The reason that Billups is a good leader is because he stays calm. That's what the team needs. When players like J.R. or K-Mart or Melo get too worked up, they start making bad plays. But not Billups. He stays calm and always knows what he should be doing. He is the perfect leader for the Nuggets and I think his time here has not brought him down at all but has lifted him up.

It's basketball, ten guys with size 14 shoes and long legs, any rec game, this wouldn't even be an issue. But since it's Kobe, and he fell down, the fan base needs something to hoot and holler about. When Kobe was pinching and grabbing Melos jersey, didn't hear no cries of cheating. Dahntay was trying to stay standing after being smoked. It was a trip, but if deliberate and dirty, Jones could have done a much more effective one.

Part of his compensation to remain balanced was to keep a wide base, and yes he did keep his leg extended, but it was more to keep upright as opposed to trying to hurt Kobe. How lame, that's the only play the Nuggets haters can focus on. Wright barely bumped him, and it was stupid of the Mavs fans to complain. With the game on the line, the refs won't call a ticky-tacky foul. Wright even threw his hands back indicating "I didn't foul!" when the ball left Melo's hands, but when it went through, suddenly Wright says he fouled him.
Nuggets fans don't whine. Lakers fans do. And if the fans who call in to The Fan are any indication, they're all dumb too.

The trip was intentional which is why it was upgraded to a flagrant 1 by the NBA. Being a Laker fan, I know how they play. We have all watched the Lakers allow penetration in the middle but yet, no foot has ever come out to stop it. So for those who say it was a natural reaction, you're full of shit! It was dirty period.

i think that the league totally overreacts just to protect their "little baby" kobe bryant. The reason that Billups is a good leader is because he stays calm. That's what the team needs. When players like J.R. or K-Mart or Melo get too worked up, they start making bad plays. But not Billups. He stays calm and always knows what he should be doing. He is the perfect leader for the Nuggets and I think his time here has not brought him down at all but has lifted him up.
