  • they dont make cars like that nowadays. I had a vg Charger back in 79. would love to go back to those days

  • 64ehprem, would love to see and hear an aspirated holden making 400 hp. Ran an LJ sports sedan a few years back that had a Highly developed 202 in it. Duggan 12 port head , bmw conrods, cosworth pistons 48mm Dellortoes and some radical camshaft and exhaust tuning to get approx 340 flywheel HP. Fucked if I know where I could get another 60 HP from !!.Koala 486, you have a sweet sounding six , definately in the 325 to 350 flwheel HP region , sounds sweet !!.

  • Josh eh64 sounds sweet, music to my ears. Best HP out of a holden six I can recall is 361 HP at the flywheel [ dyno proven ] out of a 208ci built by Ray Brough in Tassie. It had a highly modified Phil Irving head, roller cam,John Brookfield exhaust and triple 55mm webers . Have seen a couple of turbo sixes in Tassie that had 500 + hp. One with twin rajay turbos and haltech injection [ Danny Slater ,commodore sports sedan ] and a to4 Garret , Irving head combo [ Leon Burdon sports sedan ]

  • well done josh, keep going mate.

dont give up on the early girl.

  • yeah thats n/a and feels better than the turbo setup just cooler having a n/a setup and running a decent time will let you know how it goes next outing might try and get a video

  • Got any more news on the rig?

  • It had a complete engine rebuilt in early Jan 08 and the turbo was taken off but not sold just didnt go back after i rebuilt the engine as far as the wallet would allow i rolled it back on the same dyno and made 204HP@6500rpm took the car to the drags two weeks ago and ran a 13.9@98mph but need to work on the rear suspension and want to head back out. Aiming for mid 13s

By the way saw the video of your car the walk around you should be proud of that beast!

  • Yer its alright from a distance, you'll get what I mean when once you get up close with it. Cracks in the paint on the boot, rust spots etc.. Wish I had a stinkin hot motor to back up the looks of it and be able to pay for the fuel it'd drink. I've got a VZ SS ute now so my rebuild has kinda stopped.

Is that 204HP and 13.9 pass without the turbo?

  • way to go 64!! if thats the support a local early model street machiner needs then who needs enemies?

ive seen your car and its nothing to write home about.

    sounds like jealousy to me!!

    correct me if im wrong.

  • nah i havent had it on a dyno but i have taken itdown the quater i ran 14.0 at 100mph in my lj at 15psi that was with 2.7 single spinner banjo with not mutch traction.since then ive changed to 3.08 ratio and locked the diff and put a 650 hp holley carb on it so hopeing it should run a mid 13. also only running a small cam and 2 n half exhaust so theres some improvment to be made there. what cam have u got and what exhaust?

  • exhaust is 3" stainless steel including dump pipe

cam is mild but looking at changing it to a solid and to suit the turbo 2.7 and single wheeler would of killed you i would say mid 13 is well within reach 100mph is a indicator that it will do it with a good launch

    Good luck keep me posted!!

  • what power did u make and have u had it down the quater?im runnin a strata kit myself.

  • It made 210hp on 10 psi but sure you can get more i ran out of time was a hot day 32oC but hey no excuse thats what it made!! haven't had a chance to run it down the quater as it's been off the road for sometime getting 4 disc brakes and vl diff. All the best with your setup, have you had yours on dyno or quater?

  • very nice!

i had one of these kits on my 202. was great

but now im chasing 10s so am going custom with an intercooler

great to see some more turbo 202s out ;)

  • chasing 10's out of a 202????

  • It's quite possible to achieve 300Hp (even more) out of a NA 202, was in Street Machine some months ago... Imagine the possibilities with forced induction... I heard one bloke had a 400HP NA 6 cylinder in an XU-1 or something, but he cracked the block in half...

  • Our 202 FJ has 220 rwhp and it does a 12.40 @ 107mph quarter mile, just about everything that u can do to a N/A 202 has been done except running it on Methanol and one of those alloy Duggan Heads. i really cant see 400hp out of one.

  • Look back a few issues in Street Machine - was in the same issue as "Getting 300HP out of your Red Motor" or somethin along those lines. I dunno if it ran on methanol, but it DEFINATELY made 400HP.

  • How did you go about fitting a turbo, was it difficult? Have you done much to the engine? What kind of boost were you running? What's it like to run on fuel?

Sorry bout all the questions lol.

  • It is a strata turbo kit for a holden red that bolts staight on so no drama its just tight around the dump pipe to the firewall, the kits are getting a bit hard to find. The engine is nothing to wild runs dualite ACL pistons and HP crank nothing exciting but is alot of fun, boost is set at 10psi and haven't had any problems with it, as for fuel i hardly use the car but if you can hold yourself it doesn't use that much more then when it was running tripple su's
