  • This is a great video of a great model layout. I was surprised at the good standard of detail on it when I saw it at the NRM. There must be some railway modellers working at the museum!

  • @AtleeDeltic Thanks for commenting AtleeDeltic!

  • Thanks again, enjoyed this wonderful movie, must have been a good day out !

  • @chrisrussell1 Thanks.

  • I saw this, and an A4 running on it I think :D

  • @HughTheB12 Thanks.

  • Sure beats that stupid light show!!

  • Haven't seen the light show yet myself (whether or not it will be on when I go again next month, has yet to be seen).

    Thanks!

  • Yikes! I haven't seen this thing in 12 years! I'll upload the video my dad filmed that day sometime soon.

Is it 0 gauge? I always thought it was 00.

  • It is indeed 0 gauge; though it could easily look like 00 from a distance! LOL

    Cheers.

  • @Welwyn22 0 gauge, but the buildings are 00 gauge to save space on te layout.

  • @antsimkins It really works, doesn't it? 00 track to N scale buildings probably wouldn't work though... at least not at much as this does.

  • what is the train at 0:56 it looks like an A3 but does anyone no the name of the loco

  • It's an LNER V2 2-6-2 locomotive. Fortunately there is one preserved, which is 4771 Green Arrow. Thanks for the comment!

  • @19skateboarder96 Yes, it's aV2. The number looks like 60872, which would make it "King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry".

  • that looks good i hope it is their when i go later this year

  • It's a permanent thing, so you should easily be able to see it in all it's glory. Thanks for the comment hahazet!

  • thanks where is the model

  • In the great hall, underneath the 'Search Engine' library.

  • k thanks

  • I so love the sountrack, a great lesson in parenting. The models are great.

    Very nice

  • Thanks stuartthegrant!

  • One of the most relaxing things is just watching electric model trains go round a model train track. I have fond memories of my set, I was a Thomas freak at the time, the trains I had were Gordon, James and Duck, and my appreciation for model trains has never died. I'd like to go to the York Museum some day.

  • Thanks RichySKing. Funnily enough, Thomas and friends was one reason I got into trains in the first place, and I too had a Thomas electric train set from Hornby. And I certainly agree that model trains can be very relaxing and enjoyable. Glad to see we share the same hobby! Thanks again for commenting.

  • How old are you now? I'm 20. I guess you were young when Thomas was narrated by Ringo?

I don't have a set now (Sadly.) But I do want one, for sentimental reasons I might even get a Thomas train. But I think it'll be a few years before I will start collecting again.

  • I'm 24 years old, being born in 1984; the year in which the first series of Thomas The Tank Engine was broadcast. I still have a train set, albeit an N gauge one (N gauge is smaller than 00).

  • I must add as well, that I do indeed remember Ringo Starr as the narrator.

  • music?

  • None I'm afraid. Thanks for commenting anyway.

  • I used to watch tirelessly at the various trains coming and going through the tunnels. It was good when I lived in Yorkshire.

  • I still get a good kick out of watching the various trains working on the layout. Cheers Yownanymous!

  • Its it film outside York Train Station? It is only place I can think off.

  • It's inside the Great Hall at the National Railway Museum, just around the corner from York Station. Thanks Radarderek!

  • How long has it been their? I was at York National Railway Museum in August 2007.

  • It's been there since the museum started I would assume.

  • if you were there in 2007, you wouldn't have seen it because they were making something called a search engine, and that meant barring off quite a bit of the main hall, the railway layout included

  • Quite right therockingmelon, the creation of 'Search Engine' (the NRM's Library) did cause the model railway to be closed for a while. Cheers!

  • now thats great

  • It is indeed. Always a pleasure to watch, while taking a break from looking at the real things in the NRM's Great Hall.

  • c ya

  • its a great layout, makes me want to move from n gauge to o! maybe one day!!

  • Indeed it is. Cheers pattonrail!

  • This layout is Fab, i always enjoy seeing it.

Also glad to see this redevelopment involved some differnt stock on to be put on the layout. Nice to see more LNER stuff. The sound system is rather clever too.

  • Yes, I noticed the new sound system had been fitted since the redevelopment. I wish though, that they'd make the narrow gauge area more active. Cheers hiesler!

  • I not sure weather the sound system is new. It was there last time i went. I agree totally with your narrow gauge comment, and it wouldnt be hard as O 16.5 trains can be very relyable

  • Oh. I thought the sound system was new. Oh well, thanks for clearing that up. And I see what you mean about the 016.5 mm trains; kitbash a few 00 gauge models and you're laughing.

  • Thats what i do now :P. Take a look at my videos.

  • Will do. Have subscribed. Cheers!

  • Thanks to you too.

  • awesome

  • Thanks!

  • your at york a lot but u live in lea green i go 4 a day trip but u seem 2 go 4 a holiday lol

  • I did go to York for a few days this summer, but this was a trip out yesterday, by a steam charter from Liverpool. Thanks mststv!

  • welcome
