  • @SuperMario6419 A mock-up of the engine was used for the crash scene.

  • SON OF A BITCH!!!!! THEY MADE IT!!!!!!

  • If Doyle McCormack was in this movie, he'd kill those tough guys and stuff thier dead bodys in 4449's firebox!

  • awsome movie

  • that was gay

  • Here is how id save 4449 i would jump into the cab pull out at 12-gauge shotgun and shoot those guys i would put the regulator in notch 0 and pull a brake handle to save the engine & i would dump the fire so those guys could get arrested while trying to start her up again.

  • Today is the 25th anniversary of Tough Guys being released to theaters in the United States.

  • also, did they make sure the angle cock was closed? it would have gone into emergency lol

  • shame it wasn't the big boy they stole....

  • I love the train

  • I hate to tell all u 80's movies, but stuff just doesn't explode like that...

  • What's the music during the chase?

  • 4449 sounds like a dinosaur 3:51...lol

  • After seeing this I must say the 4449 can go through anything! :-)

  • Wth why must they use sp4449 to film this show? Can't they use some other ugly trains?

  • @1shaneyeo - Would you believe #844 (numbered 8444 at the time) was considered to play the part at one point? :P I found this out from a "Railfan and Railroad" article about the film shoot...

  • 3:29, "looks like we got a welcoming commitee, lets get ready to greet them, Hang on"

  • dude that cant be the real 4449 engine its just a model (i think)

  • @Shrimperdude I beleieve the crash might of been a model. The running seens looked to be real

  • Lets park all of our cars on the tracks, then stand in front of an oncoming locomotive! that sounds like a good idea! Also, i wonder how they filmed the shots of the 4449 derailing smashing through shit, and half buried?

  • @salemcripple well go to 4449s website and they have an entire photo gallery about this movie

  • @salemcripple well go to 4449s website and they have an entire photo gallery about this movie

  • Try Asian women **busizz4me.info**

  • Is The 4449 still running

cause i think it is really really bad if they arent that loco is my fav

  • @homersimpson007bjorn yep, running fine just watched a video on it before this one

  • @homersimpson007bjorn Yes, it's still running today!

  • Is The 4449 still running

  • Before I get old I want to ride on good ol' 4449

  • Everybody The 4449 still runs today this video is made up

  • LOL 'kidnapped'

  • they ran the real thing for everything except for the crash scene, i think

  • i wonder if this could ever really happen

  • i wonder if this could ever really happen

  • Its not the Real SP 4449 Its a Model edited into the video i think

  • @UP5140SD70M No, they really did someof that stunt..there are pictures of the WHOLE engine rammed into the dirt..i don't know if it really hit all the stuff though but im sure it was rammed into the dirt.

  • @mcr0928 ok,

  • @mcr0928 I was reading on Wikipedia that they actually built a live scale replica of the 4449 for the stunt and had it pushed by a switcher engine. If you notice, the real 4449 as it approaches the end of the line is puffing out real gray oil smoke, wheras the decoy 4449 as it derails is puffing out clean white steam, because it is water vapor.

  • @cool45010 Really wow - i wonder how much building a scale replica would have cost? I JUST NOW noticed the "smoke difference".

  • They didn't run the real thing right

  • The locomotive steals the show - for the rest, some pretty lame acting there.

  • She was kidnapped, gangraped, and left in a basement to rot.

  • why was the train called the Gold cost flier in the movie?

  • NO!!! NOT THE 4449!!!!!!!

  • the guys are stupid idiots and bootheads

  • Tough guys, good movie, Kirk Douglas and Bert Lancaster in thier last movie together, thier joint movies spanned over 40 years. If that was not a real train they used for the last scene it was the best special effect I have ever seen. Poor train. Trying to stop a 100 ton locomotive with bullets!!! Might have well used spitballs for all the good that would do.

  • @dv713 it weighs a shit load more than 100 tons....

  • @crshtst1 Proud Rosarian Just like ME!

  • Did Spartacus Just Moon the Sheriff Rambo tangoed with??? aka Kirk Douglass et Brian Denehey, I don't live in movies, I just love them

  • That's obviously a duplicate 4449...

  • @Hennfam719 That's the real thing simulated by either mockups or models. @TheVictoryChurch197 How do you know? The locomotive was used in this movie before it started excursion service.

  • That Is Not The Real SP 4449.

  • what movie was this from?

  • how did they do the crash? models?

  • @cheesemunster12 - Yes, that was a scale model used in the crash scene...

  • @cheesemunster12 Did a model.

  • That better have been a scale model crashing and not the real thing because that would have cost a $#%& load of money to repair

  • What???!?!?!?!?! I thought Nothing could stop the Awesomeness of Southern Pacific Daylight 4449!

  • Whats the name of this movie????????

  • @pianomanmaestro

    the movie is called

    "Tough Guys"

  • if I were in the movie I'd hit those guys cold-out and put on the brakes

  • She's the star of this video. Seeing her run into all that dirt, though makes me cringe. Pretty convincing.

  • 4449 can i have your autograph (runs over paper)

    thanks

  • @UtahJazz1Fan just put some oil on the whells and do some wheelslips

  • @UtahJazz1Fan no

  • wait, the BNSF ES 4449 or the SP 4449? lol i dont know which ur talking about

  • @MrCSXboy98 SP 4449

  • One of the best movies ever made.

  • Is it?

  • 4449 is a celebrity

  • omg!! i didn't know that the sp 4449 was a movie star!!! 5/5* and favorited!

  • What did they use for the gun and wreck scenes? Models?

  • T_T why would they freaking do that to a Awesome Steam train waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • N/S i just got a ride on it last month

  • Just good to know that no one is that stupid to shoot at and wreck a piece of history. thank you for the reassurance.

  • Shooting Bullets at the boiler of a steam Locomotive, yeah, the Boiler may not explode even if we make holes in the boiler....still a great movie, and a realistic crash scene

  • The filmakers weren't actualy stupid enough to wreck a million plus dollar piece of irreplaceable historical railroad equipment, were they?

  • No...they built a full-size replica and buried it in the sand.

  • @Railroadingfarmer001 no they weren't that's the only one left in working existence

  • mock up of the locomotive

  • Comment removed

  • This wasn't the actually SP 4449 was it?

  • no it is a mock up

  • I walked right up to that engine today, got some good video of it too.

  • SON OF BITCH, THEY MADE IT!!!!

  • Awesome.

  • There goes #4449 into the dirt.

  • I remember when it passed my high school going south for the filming of Tough guys

  • en audio latino por favor

  • now thats what i call action two guys and a train glad S.P #4449 is ok

  • I shot video footage of the SP Daylight 4449 steam engine at 11 different locations across the state of Michigan in July of 2009 when it traveled the country from Portland, Oregon to Michigan for railfest in Owosso, Michigan.

  • I am telling not bragging, DUH!!!

My friends got shots of the thing more than me.

  • I have some great old photos of this train when it was SP 4449 American Freedom Train. My dad was the engineer through Georgia, and my family found some old photos, but for some reason I can't post a link. If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong, I will try again.

  • Time for a trip to HMV. I have to get this DVD.

  • Hmmm.. Hate to burst your bubble but as you've already found out, it's not available here in North America. Only in PAL format in australia. Kinda dumb ain't it?

They just don't make movies like this no more...

Besides, I don'T think any actor today could hold a candle to actors like them.

  • WTF won't it post my reply at the proper place?

  • the posting has worked fine.

And as for getting the DVD....Damn!

  • LMAO i loved how when the train crashed through the buffers and it left a huge trench in the ground and kept on going, its like it was saying "damn the tracks, i'm gonna make my own!" LOL

  • She just left Durand this afternoon and is due in the Chicago area at 8PM tonight (CT). Note that her cars will be arriving at Union Station, but the engine is too large to go downtown Chicago!

Watch for her in the coming days through Wisconsin and along the Amtrak Empire Builder route as she moves back home after the Train Festival in Owosso, Michigan.

She is due to arrive back home in October.

  • don't you dare call 4449 a "Goddamned Train". She is a steamer. Anything non steam or Alco diesels, however, wreck as you wish.

  • Can't wait to see her in Michigan in a few days! Beautiful piece of steam power.

  • lucky! I was gonna go but we're going to Boston. Have fun.

  • Are the tracks still in place on the Eagle Mt? It looks like they are on google maps, but ...

I remember chasing one of the last Kaiser trains out of ferrum back in early '86, with 2 red Kaiser GE units pulling about 30 ore cars. I think they were just getting the last of the iron pellets out of Eagle Mt. That was before they filmed this movie.

Wasnt LA thinking of making the open pit at Eagle Mt a giant waste dump at some point?

  • You are correct, the entire railroad is still there, well the track is still there anyway. I heard something a while back about the current owner possibly deciding to completely rehabilitate the track and reopen the railroad as a tourist line.

  • Man, it's amazing what passed for a soundtrack even in a fairly big-budget film back in the 1980s. Hay guyz I got my Casio keyboard right here, I'll score your movie.

  • how do they uncouple the train with out the emergency brakes coming on

I can't believe they crashed a heritage engine

  • They fooled you...can't you see this is a model!!!

This engine was never hamed in the making of this movie.

It still is a round running excursions and pleasing many a railfan.

  • And it's about half an hour's drive from my house, too. My dad and I actually found the damn thing many years ago in its roundhouse by accident. We were just trying to get a good spot to watch trains in the yard, and there's this bloody great streamliner poking out. It was amazing. I was just a little kid at the time, so I didn't appreciate how special it all was. We even got to talk to Doyle.

  • oh i see it you have to watch it again and look very closely

  • also look at the smoke it is a thick black then goes to a thin white smoke just like a toy train makes

  • and it's too small.

  • Extremely accurate whistle and color, but she's too short XD

  • what's that song at the end?

  • Tuff Enuff by The Fabulous Thunderbirds

  • thanks

  • That was cool. Of course theyd never use the actual steamer.

  • Lets not wreak because we can't go to train festival 2009.

  • Was that the end of the movie?

  • Yeah

  • Comment removed

  • please?

  • "Tough Guys" was a really cool movie. I remember when it came out!!

  • "Holy shit, they're not stopping!"

    no kidding...

  • t4449 cant take crap like that

  • DAYLIGHT FOR THE WIN! THat was so fucking hilarious!!! The daylight doesn't take no bullshit from buffers OR cops!!!! XDXD!! FAVED! :D

  • i saw this movie last night, and on the TV you can see that the crash was done with a scale model some bits were done with the locomotive like with the water tower explosion but 4449 ploughing the ground is a scale model

  • i love that part at the end were he kicks that guy in the nuts

  • in talking with an engineer I work with he was on the SP when this movie was filmed in 1986 and they used the Eagle Mountain Railroad (Ferrrum) to film parts of this movie.

  • what movie was this and poor 4449 i hope they used a fake 4449 on the stunt

  • Yeah they did use a scale model for the derailment scenes.

  • thank goodness

  • they used a 1in. scale model for the crash and a mock-up for the post-crash scenes.. 4449 was entirely unharmed...

  • 4449>>>>>>Mexico border.

  • Forgot Dana Carvey was in this! Great footage & glad to see this loco still running. Wish I could see it in person.

  • 1:44 Epic Fail!

  • Does the 4449's tender really have a bar that let's you uncouple it from up there? And everything would have stopped in real life once they uncoupled because they shot the air in the train.

  • the cars would've stopped but the engine would keep going

  • NO. if the air shoots on a train, the whole train dumps and the engineer has to put the automatic train brake handle in the emergency position.

  • oh I was thinking about something else concerning that. and yes 4449 does have that bar at the top.

  • I belivev that technoligy wasn't installed on steam locomotives..

  • WTF!? Holy shit, dude you can't crash ol' 4449, or any train for that matter!!!

  • You can use those ugly modern Diesles.

  • haha

  • sure as hell. long live steam

  • Comment removed

  • That scene of it getting wrecked made my heart jump anyway. haha.

  • SP 4449- The Only 4-8-4 to Invade Mexico.

  • Probably the only American Steam Locomtive AT ALL to invade mexico

  • eh, KCS did that...

  • Did he really pull down his pants?

  • HAHA! The guy got pushed off the train into a river!

  • Comment removed

  • This is such a cool movie, and they did a great job on making the wooden mdel for the cras scene.

  • Comment removed

  • they didn't realy shoot at it. there used blanks and they put tiny things all over the 4449 that they could detinate to make it look like it was being shot.

  • Even so, the entire scene had me on the edge just 'cause I love the loco.

  • no way they used the 4449 on that wreck

  • i guess one of the rules is don't be an idiot in front of criminals or you'd better start wearing a cup.
