@mohawksniper79 Personally I feel that it has a harder recoil than other 308s. At 100 yards with a 9 power scope I was getting 2 inch groups but I'm not a very good riflemen so it could be a lot better in the hands of a good shooter. and if you're looking for a cheap reliable 308. I would go with this H&R it only cost me $280 brand new.
@jeremybeaner I'm really not a very good long gun shooter so that explains the grouping. The rifle itself is very well built and I would imagine in the right hands it could a very accurate firearm. However when I use it, I have no such luck
@TheAxeGrinder100 As far as the stock goes. I'm pretty sure you can order one from H&R and I do know that ATI makes an aftermarket handguard for this gun, also, they make an M4 style butt stock
@MrZayne8 It's a HBL Harris Bipod 9" to 13". On the bottom of the handguard there is a bolt that holds on the hand guard. remove that and place the bipod on. then replace the stock bolt with a stainless steel bolt and washer to hold both the bipod and hand guard on. I would make a video but unfortunatley I sold my H&R a couple months ago
@a2redneck I've talked to many gun experts and gun salesman and from what I understand. Yes it can. however I have never shot 7.62 from this gun. mainly because 308. is easier to find and if your shopping at walmart its cheaper to
@a2redneck 7.62 nato is a little bit milder than 308 win. if u look at the reloading data and many online sources it stats 7.62 nato is ok. the case is thicker on the 7.62 nato over the 308 win and it holds less powder. less powder less pressure
@a2redneck no problem. i started reloading alot of 308. i have 3 rifles and my buddys all have one and we started this big debate on military brass and i started doing research on this exact topic haha. its always good tho to be sure
@wo0dzm3n Thats exactly why i asked, too make sure. Just because .22lr has less perssure than .22 mag doesnt mean i can shot .22 lr through a .22 mag gun. Good analogy? lol
@a2redneck lol more like u can shoot 223 in 5.56 but not 5.56 in 223. when ur dealing with a M1a or another 308 military rifle u should only shoot the Nato round due to the pressure diffrance in 308 and 7.62 nato. with 223 it has less pressure than the 5.56 and the 5.56 has more volume. it is ab 1 gr more in powder so it is a little higher pressure.
I hear certain models of H&R rifles come with ejectors, and others have extractors. If mine just so happened to come with and extractor, can I remove it and make it an ejector? Thanks.
@Peidmonte89 I'm not 100%. i do have a 12 gauge NEF single shot that has an ejector on it. so i know its possible but i dont think the survivor model comes with one
How did you attach the bipod? I have the 223 version on order and noticed that the swivel stud attachment is on the tip of the forearm, not where you have yours attached. Just curious how you did it. Really like your setup on that 308.
@JandJfish I took the lug on the bottom of the hand guard off and attached it from there. but i did however have to replace the lug with a bolt and washer to make it attached properly the bolt and washer cost me about $1
How duz the H,R 308 shoot? What size groups and at how many yards? I'm thinking bout geting one.

3" Groups? thats not very good for a .308, do you think that there is something you could have done to this rifle to make it a better shot?

I like the bipod you've got. What model is it and how did you mount it up? I just picked up an H&R .308 Survivor and am looking into bipod options.

what kind of accuracy are you getting with this rifle?
kevink400 1 year ago
@kevink400 I'm not a great shot and i'm working with a cheap scope but I'm getting 3 inch groups at 100 yards. so its not half bad for a $230 gun
