yes, the user name gaethiel. However, you may be saddened to hear that PizzaPete died last year. They got a new birdie that they named Pizza, who tragically flew away last week. Such bad news. Good news though, they were able to adopt a rescue parrotlet today! They are still looking for Pizza but the new bird is named Skeeter.

It might be the change in his surroundings too. When Bean goes to Pizza's house, he gets a lot more vocal and tries to make new sounds. At home he is less prone to talking even though we talk to him constantly. Good luck!
Pizza Pete belonged to my friend and she was home with him all the time talking to him and also recording what he did say and playing it back when she went out. Bean, my bird, only squawks and imitates a chicken. After PizzaPete died, she got another bird from the same breeder and he talks too. She plays recordings of PizzaPete for him and he says some of the same things. I play recordings for Bean but he still does not talk.
I have two parrotletts together. My female, Mally, is 5 and the male, "LBM" Little Big Man is about 3. He's a plucker and is now starting to pluck her but I don't want to separate them since they love each other. Neither talk and this is the FIRST time I've ever heard one talk! Very impressive!
What would our captive birds do without our modern technology... Some work on the computer, some talk on the phone, next they'll be videoconferencing and the like!

My 15 year old sons name is Pete and he just asked me what was for dinner, I replied "pizza Pete" and then fell about laughing when I remembered your video.
Keep talking to it. Say all sorts of stuff but be consistent with certain timing and circumstances. Bean does not really talk either but he makes more of an effort after visiting with other 'talking' parrotlets. I also play him a recording of birds talking when I go out. Find some really good examples of clear talking and then use a program like audio hijack to get a sample for an ipod or cd burning. It's worth a try. :)

Yes!! I have found that you have to wait for a while to let it load. We have also had some trouble getting the whole thing to play but I am not sure if that is just because it is still caching or some such thing.
Thanks for the compliments! Bean just goes nuts when he hears Pizza over the phone. He also makes his chicken sound when he hears Gae talking. I'll have to post that one later. Perhaps it's because she makes the best chicken soup!

Well they are both sooo adorable! Bean has the cutest little voice. I decided to not clip Ollie because we have 2 cats and 2 dogs and I figured it was his only protection. Thank God for that because 1 cat got loose and Ollie flew over to "kiss kitty" (he just loooves the animals!)and got injured - had to have stitches. But if he hadn't been able to fly, he wouldn't be here today. He's an extremely "precise" flyer and has never hit anything, thank God! :)
That was a close call for Ollie. Bean sometimes bashes into chair legs and walls. I am afraid that if I let him grow feathers out he would go full steam into something and that would be it. I feel bad because I see what a character PP is and flying just gives him so much confidence and independence. Wish Beanie could have that too. My house is just not bird proof.
Ollie was clipped when I got him and quite clumsy when he tried to fly. As his feathers grew out, I too was worried he would hurt himself as he was still a little clumsy, but as soon as they were fully out, he was zipping around like he'd been doing it all his life! He's never bumped into anything, or missed his cage door when he comes zooming in and also has never tried to fly at the windows. Sometimes I wish I'd kept him clipped just a little longer so he would've gotten used to being held.
This is so wonderful, I can hardly stop smiling its so sweet. Good job I don't have one of these cute little birds I would get even less done than I do already.

Bean only does the one liner in yellow when he is climbing out of his cage. PizzaPete is doing all the talking with green subtitles. Bean is trying to talk more but he prefers to play with string. ;)
Bean is ADORABLE!!! What a cute video. I love that he reacted to PizzaPete's phonecall. Bean and Pizzapete are such good buds. :) Louie has been so intrigued with this video that we've watched it several times and will continue to do so!!!!

@SuperCrazyWolf Both birds in the video are Pacific Parrotlets. PizzaPete came from hardy stock weighing around 35 grams while Bean only weighs 26g.
