Mb workable but in highly lit situations only. like Tamron 28-75. crappy lens but worth of its price. Even having Canon camera I say, that imho Nikon's nikkors are the best ones.

The Nikkor lens is sharper and better made. it just depends on what you want to use it for. if you have a top of the range full frame D3x/D3 then yes go for the Nikkor lens but if your just an enthusiast then a sigma will do, best thing to do is pop in to your local camera shop and ask to try them out.
