Without doubt my favorite rifle of all time. Definately should be used more than it is. Extremely accurate, lovely 7.62x51NATO, and many more my friends. I love MOD 0 version so much better than original. Also, the rifle very very very sexy yes? @ali4330 That has to do with the ammunition rather than the suppressor. Silencer is a very, very misleading term. What you're hearing is actually the bullet breaking the sound barrier. Notice that when started firing "subsonic ammunition", that it got very quiet.
@ali4330 silencer/supressor is the same thing, the reason the suppressor did't made the first shots quiet is because they have a muscle velocity higher than the speed of sound (1,126 ft/s) the function of the suppressor with supersonic rounds is to minimize the muscle blast and muscle flash, but when using subsonic rounds the suppressor minimizes the sound of the muscle blast and since the bullet is traveling below the speed of sound it does not create sound*.

@100planeguy If you mean fragmentation (fragmation is not a word), no they do not. For the bullet to fragment, a hollow point round must be used. These are never used in the police force, nor the armed forces. They explode within the body and however effective, are seen as inhumane and cruel. The police and majority of the armed forces use full metal jacket rounds from my knowledge.
@GameFreakTV1 Actually stateside we do use hollow point loads for the M9, though outside of CONUS it is against the Geneva Convention so we aren't permitted to use them. (By we I mean USAF Security Forces, I'm not sure about the other branches)

tracer rounds however use a thin layer of either Magnesium or high grade incendiary thermite to give a nice clean trace of the bullet. but of course full metal jacket rounds can trace just as well in the dark.

Thermate-TH3 is less common as it requires mixing, mostly with Ba NO-3, sulphur and some smaller additive. The mixing of the Barium Nitrate is effective since it enhances the flame and cools the round so the chamber doesn't overheat too quickly, but therefore makes the rounds more expensive than standard magnesium.
@TheSkarsbo when the round reaches it's own terminal velocity (meaning it's reached it's own speed limit and can't go any faster. same physics applies to a falling object), the copper jacket will sheer itself away from the lead slug. meaning all you see is the yellowish orange flash of the jacket striking at something else in the distance.

They reduce the speed of the gas exiting the chamber to subsonic speeds and only allow the round to break the sound barrier and therefore causes the still somewhat loud boom. Shit, that silencer almost completely suppresses the sound of the shot itself and the muzzle flash. The only reason you hear the supersonic ammunition is because of the crack that the round makes by breaking the speed of sound!

@YoungOldSchoolRapper sound supressors do not "silence" a weapon completely. They reduce the speed of the gas exiting the chamber to subsonic speeds and only allow the round to break the sound barrier and therefore causes the still somewhat loud boom. Dont be fooled by call of duty or hollywood, compared to an unsupressed rifle, that sound is substantially lower.
