Regardless of what your view is, there is a certain etiquette that should be displayed on election night. Kroger and Joyce crossed the line. If you watch the ABC or Channel 7's coverage, you didn't see Nick Minchin and Steve Smith or others engage in this sort of juvenile point scoring. A little bit of friendly banter and predictions is fine, but what goes on here is a disgrace. Fortunately for Channel 9, Laurie Oakes had the good sense to condemn Kroger and Joyce's improper behaviour.

@roguemale57 there's a distinct difference. The Lib/Nationals have been in a coalition for decades. Depending on electorate, you either can vote for a Lib or a Nat - they don't usually compete. The obvious exception is in O'Connor, where a Nat ran (and beat) Wlison Tuckey - but this Nat wasn't alligned to the main Nationals - he was essentially an independent.

The greens are aligned far closer to Labor than LNP, thus thegreens *agreed* to direct prerefernces towards Labor (ie they place Lab higher on the how-to-vote cards than LNP). But most import., amajority who voted for the Greens in a Lab protest vote would have put Lab above Liberal in preferences- hence the reason Lab-LNP are neck and neck, rather than LNP wining comftbly

Regardless of what your view is, there is a certain etiquette that should be displayed on election night. Kroger and Joyce crossed the line. If you watch the ABC or Channel 7's coverage, you didn't see Nick Minchin and Steve Smith or others engage in this sort of juvenile point scoring. A little bit of friendly banter and predictions is fine, but what goes on here is a disgrace. Fortunately for Channel 9, Laurie Oakes had the good sense to condemn Kroger and Joyce's improper behaviour.

He basically was claiming success through his and his parties management of the economy, and that his re-election was testament of it. I noticed that Nick Minchin didn't stoop to Michael Kroger's level on the ABC when Kerry O'Brien was interviewing Mr Swan. He at least understands what it is to be civil!
Channel 9 obviously doesn't have enough confidence in their ability to sustain an audience while analyzing an exercise in democracy so they have to resort to employing donkeys like Kroger for their coverage in order to compete with the real value that you see on the networks like the ABC with people like Antony Green etc.

@roguemale57 there's a distinct difference. The Lib/Nationals have been in a coalition for decades. Depending on electorate, you either can vote for a Lib or a Nat - they don't usually compete. The obvious exception is in O'Connor, where a Nat ran (and beat) Wlison Tuckey - but this Nat wasn't alligned to the main Nationals - he was essentially an independent.

The greens are aligned far closer to Labor than LNP, thus thegreens *agreed* to direct prerefernces towards Labor (ie they place Lab higher on the how-to-vote cards than LNP). But most import., amajority who voted for the Greens in a Lab protest vote would have put Lab above Liberal in preferences- hence the reason Lab-LNP are neck and neck, rather than LNP wining comftbly

Ugh Nine's coverage looks awful, just commentators filled with bias and without an intelligent comment. I suppose he would have preferred the government to sit on its hands until the money ran out while unemployment went the way of the rest of the developed world to >10%. This would have resulted in 5 percent of the country going from earning tax rev to taking welfare, wonder how our debt would be going then, silly stimulus deniers. TLDR

Swan really is an idiot - how does a 10% swing, 8 seat loss sound like a Queensland that appreciated what this government has done? He, with the rest of Labor, needs to get his head out of his ass and realise that their economic recklessness is what caused this result.
Labor are only still in with a chance because of 1. Greens preferences, and 2. Gillard's home-state advantage in Vic and SA. But you don't deserve to get almost a million less primary votes and still have the right to govern..

This man is right up there with Ben Bernanke for most financially-inept leaders I've ever seen. It seems he has no knowledge of the economic system let alone how the GFC effected the Australian economy. The Rudd sponsored stimulus plan was a horribly short-sighted plan that hoped to 'increase consumer spending'; meanwhile it seems that they didn't look at the long-term repercussions of injecting billions of dollars into the economy were looked over. I Sincerely hope he leaves the post soon.
