  • punch cards?

  • tanasinn

  • a computer animation in the 60's?????

  • FIRST DEMONSTRATION OF CRACK VISION EVER SHOWN!

  • In Soviet Russia, cartoon animates you!

  • I liked the part with the cat :3

  • Each frame produced by the machine was printed down on a paper sheet and then filmed until the animation sequence was completed. Unlike Pixar with its renderfarms, which came up by mid-80s, guys who filmed this reel in 68 didn't have anything than a printer and a cam, despite of this they had made this unique work.

  • directx 1 ^^

  • it kinda looks like the image is about to explode...

  • i guess the commies beat us to that one... damn

  • The motion is great!

  • its actually paper frames.

  • When I see stuff like this I am amazed at human creativity. Can you imagine what this person could have created with todays modern technology.

  • @lookatjim iphone fart app?

  • Russians began this.... and Pixar have it continued.

  • lol pivot xD hehehe

  • I couldn't figure out why it looked like paper until I realised it was printed on a teletype frame by frame. Neat.

  • highly cute

  • Awesome i dont think never found an video of old computer on accion.

It is a pity that all these countries (Germany, Russia, EU, England) are in disagreement and seeking political supremacy,

    instead of seeking human supremacy

  • Germany actually tried that, didn't really work out too well though...

  • Flipbook ASCII art. Clever.

  • wow i'm impressed a bit.Nice.very nice( gosh i'm such a nerd!)

  • looks like ASCII art

  • how come some parts a bit crumpled, giving a paper effect?

  • Because each animation frame was actually printed on the paper :)

  • each animation frame was printed on the paper ? but how to make it so smooth in action?

  • very clever

  • Completed in 1951 and took 17 years to render.

  • from where do you know this? I am just very interested to learn more on the history of computer animations

  • You really dont get jokes do you.

  • All that time we were worried about them attacking us with nukes when could've just used this by hacking into our airwaves and kill us all by heart attack! Scared the fuck out of me!

  • I never knew about this!

  • great like for 1968!

  • english subs!

  • Comrade Kitty!

  • lmao good one

  • ta` chido !!

  • this is cool

  • dnt like cat

  • @savo2k GoogleTrad: "The trick is that about any lapse animation of the question. Movement of the legs is described by a mathematical function. This cat has caused much controversy then - told her that just drew, but after a look of the equation, shut up."

  • the first close up to inverse kinematics.

  • the main idea of this animation was to make first ever motion engine described by differencial equations. Results was printed and pasted together line by line. Then animated as usual.

  • Matrix - 1968

  • It's not actually on a screen or a video feed, it's on printed paper. That's why the background moves when there is movement, when the cat stops, it stops moving.

  • scary cat!

  • So, is this the first-ever computer animation? It's a very neat look back to the early days of computers. I wonder if anyone truly imagined how far they would come.

  • Look at the cat on 00:23 scary lol! xD

  • lier lier pants on fire.

  • ok so I spelt it wrong

  • thanks for upload

  • Hmmm...it looks rather like conventional animation of computer printouts. I'm not saying that it *is* that, mind you, just that it is how the film appears to me.

  • Yes, that's just what it is. But do keep in mind that it was made in 1968.

  • I agree , there is a lot of movement in the background , is it the screen ? film?? any way its a good archive : )

  • i lied...it is real,sorry doods

  • If it's real, it's cool. If einstien103 is right, than it sucks. I dunno.

  • I like it ;) I proud to be russian ;))

  • the beginning was scary

  • I've seen this "piece" of so called animation before at WIGWAM_ANI.COM .It's totally fake,I'm afraid. It was produced in Denmark in 2003,then leeched onto the internet as a april Fools Prank. The first ever CGI created was actually by Heroute Bichie of The Belgium company RAN'TOU in 1967.It was a character based on The popular Belgian folk legend "Criss Toes peak" .It was a Giant Squirrel that stole Bad Kids hair! Strange, but true! If you go to the site you can watch it there

  • yeah, but i was passed the link by russians from mosscow uni, they are celebrating the 40th aniverrsary of this piece this year and that is being celebeirated in schools aross russia.

  • yeah,i always knew it was real,i just like spreading rumours that the stuff on u tube is fake...

you know "Animations" "footage of doods" "girls with extra limbs" what can i say,i was born with two heads and an ability to lie good!! fun

  • Nice. Lieing is something that took me years to get the hang of. Now i can lie easilly :P

  • Interesting. thanks for that.

    Jenkah

  • i dont get it???

  • It's the very first CGI cartoon!

  • Holy Toledo, this should be is a museum or something!

  • It's so cute! You ougt to warn people about the cat "jumping" near the start, though. :)

  • Those Russians are so cutting edge. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'll have to add the site you got the video from the my free and legal animation site.
