“On Feb. 24, 1944, a unit of the German Secret Field Police passes by Huta Pieniacka; the populace, believing they were facing a Ukrainian unit, opened fire. As a result, 6 to 8 Germans were killed. On February 27, a punitive squad of the Secret Field Police entered Huta Pieniacka, completely destroying the village; approximately 500 residents were killed.” (AAN. — Ministerstwo Spraw Wewn., Wydzia Sprawozdanie sytuacyjne Nr. 15/1944. — S. 24.)
@Bosirant The "Report of Delegate to the District Welfare Council of Galicia for the month of February and March 1944 " on March 19, 1944 reads: "(...) the village was destroyed by the SS unit Galizien, the branch is in the area boasted a well-arranged the Poles in Huta Pieniacka. "
Polish Government clearly stated that Germans were responsible for the massacre, and that evidence is reliable --especially compared to Stalinist Russian evidence. Russian Bolsheviks also lied about the Katyn massacre.
The best evidence is that Germans carried out the massacre. Even Polish witnesses remember Germans.
SS Galicia and the UPA are the perpetrators of the massacres of Poles in Huta Pieniacka. testimony of witnesses, chronicle the SS Galicia, reports testify.
@Bosirant Situation report from the Eastern Territories No. 5, March 1944 ", in section 2 entitled "Division of the SS 'Galicia' murdered Poles, reads: Ukrainian troops exterminate the Polish population and murder, on 27 February [should be 28 February] penal expedition arrived in the Ukrainian branch of the SS-Galicia Schutzendivision. This division behaved brutally. fell victim of the slaughter of about 500 people and managed to save up only 30 "
Apparently the German POLICE SS Schutzpolizei were responsible for ordering and executing the actual Huta Pieniacka massacre. Even the Polish survivors mention that German "of a Silesian dialect" was spoken by the perpetrators. This is also the testimony of Jewish survivors.
Apparently, the Red Partisans and Armia Krajowa, (which were also massacring Ukrainian villages) provoked this massacre by attacking a unit of the German Secret Field Police a few days earlier.
@Bosirant the first soldiers killed SS Galicia were killed near the village of Ukrainians and Roman Bobak Oleksa Andrijczuk what is written in the chronicle of the division.
The massacre took place on February 28, 1944--and NOT on February 23.
Any military actions fighting Armia Krajowa or Bolshevik "Red partisans" who operated out of Huta Pieniacka, before that had nothing to do with the massacre.
The Waffen SS "Galizien" 14th Division was not an SS Police organization --but a "Waffen" armoured military front line combat organization, that would never be wasted killing civilians.
Polish propagandists deliberately confuse German SS Police with WAFFEN SS.
@Bosirant few days before the massacre of Poles trying to enter the village were killed two Ukrainian SS Galicia was recorded in the chronicle. Poles, massacre was revenge
The disinformative statement that the 4th and 5th regiments of the WAFFEN SS "Galizien" 14th Division took part in the massacre was wrong, as the Division had at that time been normalized to 3 regiments; there were no 4th or 5th regiments. The division also was at that time still in the process of formation, which was completed two months later in May 1944 near the Polish town of Dębica.
@Bosirant Chronicle of the SS Galicia as the first soldiers killed Division recognizes Oleksa Bobak and Roman Andrijczuka with 4 SS police regiment Galicia, they died at the Huta Pieniacka February 23, 1944.
Poland and Ukraine have reconciled---but there will always be wounds for some, especially when they are victims of divisive unscrupulous propaganda and disinformation.

The religious commemorative funeral ceremony was touching. The advice for reconciliation, "No freedom for the Pole, with out freedom for the Ukrainian...and vice versa," is very wise.
@Bosirant f not glorified criminals from SS Galicia and the UPA, apology for the crimes, then there would be mutual grievances. Germany apologized, did not glorify criminals and no one blames the Germans Ukraine let him take the example of the Germans
@Bosirant you come to Huta Pieniacka want peace and concentration. SWOBODA no honor, visiting people who glorify the killers, whether it will be the road to reconciliation?
According to Jewish eyewitness accounts, toward the end of 1944 “this village was surrounded by Germans who poured gas over the village houses and barns and burned down the village and its residents.” There is a passage to this effect in The Black Book: The Ruthless Murder of Jews by German-Fascist Invaders Throughout the Temporarily-Occupied Regions of the Soviet Union and in the Death Camps of Poland during the War 1941–1945, edited by Ilia Ehrenburg and Vasili Grossman, Kyiv, 1991, p. 146).
The witnesses were children or adolescents from a small peasant village. They would not have understood who the perpetrators were.
The only way to help understand this tragedy is to have an international conference, including German military and forensic scholars.
The stupid and preposterous allegations by some Poles that the Ukrainian Insurgent Army participated with the German SS Police is ludicrous and absurd, as they were well known to be very hostile to one another.
@Bosirant Poles who lived through the church tower, in the basement of the school and have enough shelters for many years.
In Poland, there have been many conferences and investigating crimes has established that four police regiment of the SS Galicia and the UPA.
SS Galicia and the UPA collaborated in the murder of Poles also Pidkamin and other towns. I read the files and the chronicle of the SS Galicia as opposed to you.
In Ukraine, in WWII, millions died. Ukrainians suffered enormously.
Tragedies like Huta Pieniacka were very, very commonplace.
Later, Communist Polish and Russian Bolshevik propagandists often lied and fabricated false narratives and phony evidence surrounding such tragedies for self-serving political purposes --to create divisions.
Poles today need to overcome implanted and false "memories" created be decades of vicious Stalinist-era "official truth" propaganda and disinformation.
@Bosirant You deny even though witnesses Mozez see and listen, I gave evidence, even chronicle the SS Galicia. It is true UPA and SS Galicia cruelly murdered Poles.
Polish propagandists --just like Russian propagandists-- have tried since WWII to discredit the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the WAFFEN SS (which was a combat division, NOT an SS Police and had NO SS police role). These organizations never cooperated in any actions.
Huta Pieniacka is in Ukraine. Anybody could speak Ukrainian, including Poles, Jews, Russians, Volksdeutsch.... Speaking Ukrainian in rural Ukraine implicated no one--except to the ignorant.
@Bosirant Huta Pieniacka February 28 in 1944, was under German occupation. Today it is the Ukraine, the site of the village no one lives, the land is cultivated.
Why do the Poles murdered? could not live there to this day, or leave?
why the hatred for the Poles?
Of my family killed dozens of people-women and children, the youngest child did not survive even a day, was murdered by the hero of the Ukrainian SS Galicia. It looks like you think the fight for freedom?
Since 1945m Communist Polish propagandists have shaped Polish "memories" based on the official Stalinist Kremlin line to attack Ukrainian opposition movements.
The so-called "SS Galicia" designation is vague and means nothing, as there was several organizations that used the territorial designation "Galizien".
Jewish witnesses state that "Germans poured gas over the village houses and barns and burned down the village and its residents.”
The presidents of Poland and Ukraine have paid homage to the Huta Pieniacka victims, which is another move toward leaving this tragedy in the past. Hopefully, the next move will be paying homage to Ukrainians who died in the Chelm region in March 1944. The Polish underground carried out several missions aimed against Ukrainian villages, killing more than 1,500 Ukrainians in 14 populated areas within four days.
