Tibet has an earlier version. Nap Sangye Yeshe is able to plunge a phurba into solid rock as a demonstration of his level of yogic training, a siddha. My only source for this is a painting in the book " The Secret Temple Of the Dalai Lama". If anyone knows of more sources please alert me.
I like this type of movies, this is the histroy of EUROPE, the histroy of Brittany (Bretage in France) , England, Artus married Guinivere daughter of old roman patrician family.
So be careful no to say this is England's history, that would be very very wrong. In fact Artus lived in Britanny France not Britain England.
I LOVE this movie, as well as the hilarious Monty Python rendition of the classic Arthurian legend...sometimes my friends and I can't help but quote the Pythons while watching the great John Boorman film, haha
Wonderful job! I would like to have seen more of the women in it, the passion/love element to balance the pure battle elements. Still, a very nice effort. Thank you.
This film is timeless. One of my all time faves. I went through 2 VHS copies and now have the dvd.
I hear talk of a remake but it won't be the same. It won't have John Boorman's touch, or the awesome music, creepy green lights, or this fantastic cast. Nicol Williamson is just amazing as Merlin.
Listen -- strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you! I mean, if I went around sayin' I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me they'd put me away!
ya ur right but then again because sum theif got put on a cross thay ran around saying a son of god ect and then ebcame a religion its funny how people see things, just like robin hood yh he might of been a noble but he prob became a little theft and over time the story changes n he was some great hero.i like to call it chinese wisphers
Superb trailer - nice one! : ) Should have done a spellcheck for "Anniversary" though! One of my favourite films of all time. Beautiful photography, superb acting, Helen Mirren when she was very sexy & the best armour of any film -ever!!! Nigel Terry looked so innocent to begin with & then the scene where Lancelot is blocking his path he is a world weary man. Thank you for doing justice to this much sadly overlooked film. This film deserves to be acknowledged for the masterpiece it is.
Great job. One small point. The last scene should not have been Lancelot shouting for Arthur at the last battle but it should have been Uter Pendragon driving Excalibur into the stone.
Nice work -much better than the oringial trailer- but still totally mirepresenting the movie.. From this trailer we would expect just one more fantastic medieval war movie.. This movie is so much more. It's an archetype! A masterwork, which hides inside your subconscious, a bit more meaningful every time you see it... The haunting use of Wagner's music, the metaphysic quest of the grail to give birth again to what has come and past, what is broken, the meaning of "one land, one king"...

I was obsessed with this movie in my youth, in the glorious 1980's.........when the world seemed new.
This trailer is misleading. The music in the film is by the 19th Century composer Richard Wagner. ( and used quite effectively too !!! )
Great film for its time.
A bit dated now......... it has NO CG !!!!! ( imagine )
