Then with the other 30% they tweak with the environment irreversibly, even thought they do not understand its many complex cycles they insist on "fixing it". They "save" animals that should have naturally died then reintroduce them into the environment. They create a pointless surplus of higher end creatures that throws off the entire food chain.
It may be a slightly biased video, but the data does support that ALL humans are causing problems in a lot of populations. If these animals were naturally dying, and I mean through ways that were not influenced by our activities, then yes I agree with you. But we are dumping toxins into the ocean that are affecting the natural ecosystem. Our boats, which are not natural threats, are injuring and killing hundreds of different species of animals a year.
Logging and deforestation for grazing animals destroys and eradicates species every day. So how is this the Environmentalist's fault? Seems to me, it is the human race's fault. You can't place blame on 1 group of individuals.

These creatures were not that rare in the past. The idea of mermaids came from these animals because sailors were always seeing them (i.e., the name sirenia, from siren). There were large numbers of these creatures till humans began hunting them. The Stellar Sea Cow went extinct 27 years after being discovered by humans due to over hunting them, not via natural events. Their only real predator is us. They live in shallow, warm waters where most predators can't get to them.
Part II: Therefore, what natural selection factors, besides maybe environmental, could be causing these animals to die off? All research points to us being the cause of their demise, not natural means.
This is an example of another useless creature that people are trying to protect. Get over it people, there won't be any living " dugons " in 100 years. I repeat, they are useles to the global ecosystem.

Once I caught a huge marlin, but when it was on the back of the boat with those giant beautiful blue eyes and I learned they're not even good to eat I really felt bad. (The next one "got away", after an amazing fight and boy were they pissed; this despite I had hired the boat for the day in Hawaii.)

This is total propaganda bullshit. I've lived in Okinawa for 25 years and never heard shit about dugongs until the Henoko heliport was proposed... The largest area of dugong-edible seagrass is in the huge Awase bay area that's now being filled in. How come we don't hear anything about that? The only place they find dead dugongs is in fishermens nets. How come we don't hear anything about that? Because these people don't care about the dugong; it's an anti-base/anti-American propaganda tool.

I am a die hard greenpeace hater, however, I have to agree with this issue. Dugongs in Okinawa are really endangered and must be protected by Japan not by greenpeace. If you want to make a donation, don't give it to GP but do it to Okinawa-ken instead. This is very important thing! Save the dugongs, No money for GP!

It is up to man to protect the earth and all the animals. Dugong is related to the manatee. Stellar Sea Cow was too, but it was hunted into extinction in the 18th century. Extinctions are irreversible and impact the ecosystem and the planet.

Environmentalists they get millions of dollars of taxpayer's money, and pocket a good 70% of it. Then with the other 30% they tweak with the environment irreversibly, even thought they do not understand its many complex cycles they insist on "fixing it". They "save" animals that should have naturally died then reintroduce them into the environment. They create a pointless surplus of higher end creatures that throws off the entire food chain.

It may be a slightly biased video, but the data does support that ALL humans are causing problems in a lot of populations. If these animals were naturally dying, and I mean through ways that were not influenced by our activities, then yes I agree with you. But we are dumping toxins into the ocean that are affecting the natural ecosystem. Our boats, which are not natural threats, are injuring and killing hundreds of different species of animals a year.

These creatures were not that rare in the past. The idea of mermaids came from these animals because sailors were always seeing them (i.e., the name sirenia, from siren). There were large numbers of these creatures till humans began hunting them. The Stellar Sea Cow went extinct 27 years after being discovered by humans due to over hunting them, not via natural events. Their only real predator is us. They live in shallow, warm waters where most predators can't get to them.

Perhaps the dugong might not lead to toppling the entire food chain, but we are foregoing its right to life and ownership of this planet. It deserves just as much right to be here as us. And with the current overpopulation, we are stealing resources from other creatures.
saving dugongs and other species is a matter of preserving our current state until the next disaster strikes to replace us with something else...

What an amazing animal! Sort of like a sea cow of sorts. All of these creatures larger than we need to be protected from our many ways of endangering if not directly attacking. Once I caught a huge marlin, but when it was on the back of the boat with those giant beautiful blue eyes and I learned they're not even good to eat I really felt bad. (The next one "got away", after an amazing fight and boy were they pissed; this despite I had hired the boat for the day in Hawaii.)
