WM6.5 runs like ass on the HD1, so this isn't a fair or accurate comparison. I reflashed my HD back to WM6.1 from 6.5.1 because the little 528MHz processor is way overworked trying to keep up with the 1GHz Snapdragon in the HD2. My custom 6.1 ROM on my HD runs just as fast as a stock 6.5 ROM on the HD2.

@jybonez with regards to what, if your using youtube chainge the setting from automatic to high quality btw be carefull it dont cost you a fortune and your network can handle high speed data. as for videos on the phone mine runs 720p content fine and christal clear

@peterfennelly either liar, or your vision is failing you. Windows mobile cannot handle HD video, qualcomm has had a heck of a time with that one. the current version of windows CE for 6.5 cannot decode HD.

@vexcursion funny how mine decodes h264 content in 720p in media player and youtube app search youtube for "HTC HD2 Playing a 720p Video" you will see it playing elephants dream (open movie) that i have also done myself

i thought HD and HD2 are almost the same . i thought it's only the size of the screen because both of them have the same resolution 800*640

@hemo1001 there not if you look as the spec of the hd2, the screen on the hd runs at 640 x 480 he hd2 runs at 800 x 488 plus the hd2 hasnt got the snapdragon processor running at 1024mhz nor will it benifit from win mobile 7 once it comes out.

the hd was a bigger version of the touch diamond, i shud know i have all 3 :)

@b2ykai87 to answer you question yes 6.5 is official on all windowsmobile devices even those upgraded to it had plenty of space for it after removal of original OS. windows mobile devices are made in mind of future updates and conservative for space on the future updates. hope i summed all that up nicely for you ;)

you have to keep in mind the size of the hd2 screen and resolution takes alot for the processor to render. Colors on a larger screen will appear washed out because of pixels per inch. The hd mini has smaller screen and resolution but images appear more crisp on the mini. Pixels are closer together on smaller screens. Anybody agrees? correct me if im wrong now.

@ufoseverywhere you are wrong, the screens are the same res, the processor does not know the hd2 has a bigger screen. but then again the bigger screen will not look as crisp because of the pixel density. that one is correct.

@vexcursion you are totally incorrect all you talking about this know nothing. i have been around computers since i was 3 i am now about to be 41. the processer knows every little spec about it every screen has a special driver for installation into the phone contents (processer harddrive etc.) so you should be more educated before putting youself out there to be corrected as i have done here and to many others on this topic

@irishceaser1pker you obviously have been around computers, but not the english language. the processor KNOWS NOTHING, it is a COMPONENT. These phones are like computers, but not in every way. The processor does not even handle the video on the device anyway, its an independent chip AMD z340 or something, i cannot recall off the top of my head. The phone knows not the size of the screen, rez and color yes. YOU should be more educated, i have been using these for 10 years. wiki it yourself fool.

actually, the larger the screen, the better potential resolution it can have, but I do believe the hd mini has better resolution considering most cell phone comapnys wont take the resolution to their advantage.

@ufoseverywhere once again i corrected another person on this but the screen on hd doesnt take more to be rendered for one the processer has been slightly upgraded to handle it the res should come in the same in comparison for it is so that the "driver" for this specific screen requires a higher res which this slightly upgrade processer provides it with. i hope i resolved this for you. learn more before you get corrected. im 41 been around cps since i was 3. take it from someone who knows >.>

Its not a fair comparison, you have the htc hd in fast download (low quality) and the HD2 in high quality in you tube. you should put both in high quality. But still i know the HD2 is better than the HD. Its like compairing a porshe cayman and a 911

@reezlaw no actually 6.5 wasnt on the HD becuase it was still being worked on. the HD was optimized to be able to handle the upgrade before hand. I myself must point out the HD 2 is faster becuase it has more RAM (random access memory) just as cps have ram a phone does to. i dont know about the main HD of these 2 phones but i know there is a .5 mb difference in the ram(maybe more ill have to refer to my user manual)but that makes a huge diff. in performance. hope i corrected and informd you >.>

Wait... he said that both were running on wm6.5 right? the HD performs MUCH better with its native 6.1 rom, that's why I pointed out that this wasn't a fair comparison.

BTW the real big difference between the two is their CPUs. MSM7201 VS Snapdragon, there's no match.
