  • I`m German. I Like your videos :-)

  • Hey I don't have a chroma key under keying in my macs adobe premiere cs4, how can I get that option?

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • hi, trying to remove green screen - there is a shadow behind the person - wrong lights - now the edges are very fuzzy - any way to fix this?

  • @jaydeehermanus Generally just adjusting the tolerance can get rid of a lot. If that isn't working you can blur the edge of the chroma key mask. I can't remember the name of that function unfortunately. Good luck, hope I helped.

  • "... then you just click on" *smack* "Ow.."

  • invisibility cloak!! (memories of hp1 comes to mind) <3

  • the basics of understanding Chroma key explaned by some one whos smart :D

  • nice.!! haha....its a baby..woww...by d way...derz a lil fault in dis..ammmm check out his left elbow from 0:10 to 0:12 its kinda weird..u kno like wiped out..see it urself..!

  • Nice video. It looks very professional which is hard to get in youtube.

  • very good job and tutorial

  • you can chroma key using other colours and instead of real people Green Gifs with drawings?

  • @mariobrasil9 Yeah play around with it

  • this was awesome

  • thanks man!!

  • One of the best tutorials ever, creative, interesting, and educational- loved it- definite 5 stars.

  • thanks alot i had no clue what that matte shit was for. and now i can get rid of extra shit on the edges. AWESOME

  • This fucking youtubedesign...

  • nice bro!

  • great. thank you so much. lesson learned!!!! apir!

  • bravo bravo

  • Premiere aint for compositing its for cutting

  • Hi!

Haven't worked with Premiere for a while; I'm thinking of installing it again and start doing some artwork, so I have a question if you have the time:

Is it possible to replace the original background, just like you're doing in this video, but instead of a picture, do it with a video?

  • Awesome video!! what kind of camera are you using?

  • honestly I don't remember

  • when i make vid with this software not green screen just like me playing call of duty modern warefar 2 when i record and stuff its fine with good quality but when i edit it with this software the qulaity sucks can you help with this problem

  • I'm not entirely sure, but it may have to do with the size of the display. Or it could have to do with the file type you export as.

  • ok can u help me fix the file thing???

  • I would not know what to do, sorry.

  • k well thx anyway

  • Nice effect! One question: Is the software you're using Adobe Premiere Elements 8? I've been told elements 8 has chroma key (called Video merge). If this is true, then I'm willing to spend the $79 bucks (after the $20 mail in rebate). Please, if you can answer me ASAP I'll greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

  • @diatheke777 This was not adobe premiere elements. I think this may have been 7. It was a couple of years ago. If you are a student/teacher/educator and have a mac you can get the Final Cut Studio Express HD for 100. That is what I am using now. I do not know much about Premiere Elements 8. Hope that helps.

  • does it work the same if the background is animated?

  • Absolutely

  • Great video, very entertaining and informative.

  • HI, nice video. Good job, but I want to ask you I did not understand how you get that whole picture there, what I mean is you don't have it fully screened, and I see other stuff on the sides of you. I don't understand how you do that. I have sony vegas pro 8, not Adobe Premiere, but can that be done in sony vegas. If so please let me know or if you know someone that has a tutorial on that. Thank you.

  • I have never used vegas pro 8, but if it has chroma key available it will be able to do this to some degree. I am not sure what "other stuff on the sides of you" means. Good luck and I hope it works out.

  • That is done using a stationary camera and then masking around the chromakey backdrop.

  • You only need the green behind the actor. He stays in the green. Use a mask to cut out the rest of the shot.

  • Oh ok, Thank you so much. Do you know where I could get that background you have, it's so cool looking. Anyway thank you for your help.

  • cool video!

  • Does chroma key also work on images/pictures?

  • Yes

  • Yes

  • is it possible to chroma key with HDV Format? I read first that it wasn't possible and then to avoid that. Is it better with HDV or AVCHD? Thanks

  • Do you have to use a green/blue screen because I don't have one.

  • Nope, you can use a green table cloth. I am currently at college and do not have access to a "green screen", but I just use cheap green table cloths taped to the wall

  • What I mean is, does it have to be green can it be pink or yellow?

  • The color doesn't matter, but it's best if it is the color that will not be on your subject.

  • can u add a video as a background using this program?

  • Yes, just put the video track in where I put the picture.

  • yeah... that's the point of this vid

  • I tried this today for the first time and I don't have a ton of space. I end up with the slight green glow and when I try to drop or blend, it blends too much. Any thoughts?

  • Using more light can help. Or just fiddling around more with different mattes and stuff.

  • Awesome video, i wish i found this 2 months ago. Would have saved me hours and hours of trouble!

  • Wow, I'm going to have to take another look at Premiere now. :p

  • Very clear description of how to use a program. Where to click, where to find what to click, what to do after you click. Manual writers and help file writers need your skill. Thanks!

  • I have Premiere Pro CS3, and I can't find "Chroma Key" effect.

My only choice is to do it in After Effects, but then I get the image i was just keying, but also the black around me:S

    Help?

  • 0:08 "I am...well I dont actually know where I am"

  • 0:15 it's a baby

  • I am bowled over by this one. New to Premiee, I am still not able to get a hang of a thing or two. I could not understand how I could see the effects of apllying Chrroma key in motion i.e. first the green color disappearing slowly, then yellow. When I try to open a video, it comes up in the pane, but I ca''t see the preview of the video in the window. I just see a thumbnail picture of it. Can someone help me out of this.I mean, could anyone bother to write a step by step note for it?

  • Uh, I have Adobe Premiere 2.0.

  • Fantastic... Explained in a way even I can understand (laughs)... Top Tutorial Skills.

    g.

  • Thanks man big help ps cool backround

  • Are you talking about adobe premiere 6.0 or 6.5?

  • I do not remember, sorry.

  • does adobe Premiere have something called garbage matt..you know the thing that can cut some parts of the video by making lines(just like the lasso tool in photoshop)

  • You could always spend less is you buy Pinnacle studio Ultimate, it only costs around £60 here in the UK. I bought it and got a free green screen sheet included.

  • is there any free greenscreen software out there?

  • I know there is, but I can't remember what it is called. With all the free greenscreen softwares I have seen though, there is a watermark across your screen in the final rendered video.

  • whats a watermark? I just need some free or cheap green screen software, for my stopmotion movies,

  • Oh, sorry about that. A watermark is usually the logo or brand name across the video. It is usually opaque, but sort of annoying.

  • is it really noticeable?

  • Unfortunately, it usually is. It's generally intended to get you to buy a full version of the software.

  • are there any cheap ones like $20 to $50?

  • I don't know, sorry.

  • ok thanks for your help

  • what software is this?

  • nevermind

  • Sony vegas is good software and isn't very expensive). If you really want free software wax 2.0 works too.

  • *coughs* Pirate Bay *coughs*

  • q=what?

  • The lighting is actually pretty tricky. You want the green to be all the same, so you want the lighting to cast few shadows on the wall. I had quite a bit of back lighting. The big thing is being careful about shadows.

  • garbage matt, not guard path. Sorry about the audio, I did the best with what I had to work with.

  • your a champion mate =)

    thanks a bunch !

can i ask, did you use mich lighting??

where should i be placing my lights?

  • On an interesting side note on the wonders of YouTube. You're probably posting comments around noon, your time. It's just after midnight here in the States.

  • haha, im from sydney australia.. your video is very helpful. this is my first time using a green screen so im just trying to get everything right.. im making a stop animation video of two robots and trying to edit in a different recorded background for their fight. . . i don't think ill need tooo much lighting cause the width, length and height of the shot is all less than a metre.... i need to go out and buy few materials though like a green sheet =S

  • What would you recommend Premier or After Effects? For Green Screen?

  • The After Effects keyers are more superior, with far more control, in my opinion.

    Good luck

  • is their something called garbage Matt or something that can crop some video footage that i want from another video..you know..the one that we do in compositlab

  • Looks awesome but you should have recorded the sound in a better environment.

  • this really helps thanks!..just one question though, is this all used on just adobe premier or on after affects?

  • adobe premier

  • kk thanks!

  • there is a way to do it on after effects as well though

  • Only needs a shadow

  • metroid

  • This tutorial is awesome!! But can I ask regarding about the voice recording. I'm pretty sure there are background noise while you were recording, but what program did you use to take the noise off?

  • I actually didn't do anything for the audio. I was doing this sort of quickly, so I used a unidirectional microphone. Directional microphones are great as they do not pick up too much background noise.

  • can I ask you a question?

I installed Premiere Pro cs4 and once I start it there is a screen that says "adobe has detected that the application adobe premiere pro cs4 has unexpectedly quit". Do you know what I can do to fix it?

  • not sure, try customer support?

  • good enough xD, lets give it a shot

  • its the umbreo

  • hi! im a new one in this thing too, so i wanna know if is there any chroma key program free (adobe or whatever)?

  • You can search for a free Windows Movie Maker plug-in.

  • invest in a lav

  • i'm brand new to green screen so this is probably a really stupid question but how do i put in back grounds when i do the chroma key thing all it does is go black

  • the back ground should go in VIDEO 1

The clips with the green screen should go in VIDEO 2

  • the thing for the floor removal. polygon. did you say dark matt?

  • It is not really time consuming. Once you get used to it, it might only take a few minutes. Plus time for rendering.

  • How time consumng it this/was this?

    Curious.

Considering buying adobe premier pro 8

  • I could not hear you well, Use wireless mike next time.

  • Great Tutorial. I've spent so much time trying to figure it out and you made it drop dead EASY. Thank You!!

  • what tool do you use to cancell out the floor?

  • garbage matte i think

  • I think that's a picture from a movie called pure evil. I reconise the alien by the front cover. By the way great vid!

  • muy muy buena información

  • That "thing" was a fetus, lol.

  • wow, this is by far, the best tutorial I have ever seen. omg, plz make more of these!

  • bravo ;) tres bien reussi =)

  • fxhome's

visionlab studio is the way to do this good!

  • esta muy bueno el tutorial lastima que no se ingles y que no pueda usar muy bien el after effects pero hay boy poko por poko el qe persevera alcansa jejeje

    hablamos Bye

  • Is it possible to remove a consistent background image, as opposed to a single colour?

By which I mean: Take a shot of a blank set, then put the actors in. Then in post production remove the image of the blank set so nothing left except actors.

  • Comment removed

  • lol u sure are having fun with that i kno i will i can make clones of myself. It takes some skill but its easy if u figure out

  • Which Adobe Premier should I get for starters with that program, but still has the chroma key and cool affects?

  • premiere elements 4 should be about 100 bucks

  • My chroma experiment

    watch?v=5hp8QHFY6Eo&feature=channel_page

  • how to cut de character out of de background if de default background is not a solid colour?

  • Using masks, you would have to go frame by frame and make sure the mask fits nicely aound the object. It is a lot more work when you don't have a green screen.

  • i think it would be more simple if you could do this on the computer >:(

  • not very good keying as you can still see green around try bluring a little.

  • hahahaha funny

  • how do i a post a music video in the background well im talking. send me a message if u know

  • if you are in the video 2 track with a green screen behind you and the music video is in video track 1 just cancel out the green and you should be all set. You'll have to tweak with the audio levels depending on what you are doing.

  • very helpful. awesome

  • I want to put a live talking person on my website can you tell me how to do it?

    Thanks DJ Mikey Mike

  • a huh a huh a huh

  • is there any replacement for a green screen such as a blank white wall or something?

  • green posterboard, a blue bedsheet, or a bright colored wall.

  • thanks

  • no prob

  • bad audio

  • can someone help! i have a professional green screen, lighting and camera setup but when i use adobe to kroma key it comes up all cubic round the edges not at all realistic! how can i solve this without buying anything?

  • you gotta render it by hitting ENTER then it will look better

  • do you need some sort of special camera for greenscreen?

  • Any digital camera works. As long as you can download the camera footage to a program which can do chroma keying, you're fine with any camera.

  • Does adobe premiere elements 7 have chroma key?

  • That's awesome! I want to get a green screen

  • I'm pretty sure that freaky thing to your left is a fetus lmao ... wierd thing is I didn't see it at first either...

  • wait can someone tells me where the eyedropper is lacated?

  • thanks alot!

  • now i know how harry dissapearssss :D nice tutorial

  • Nice way of showing how the effects gradually evolves. One BIG but though. The Sound! Why is it that everyone is so totally addicted to video but forgets the sound? The sound is lousy. And maybe some views from the actual working environment would lift this more?

Cool idea but with some editing and better sound it would be great!

  • This looks like the studio/computer lab at Antelope Valley College.

  • great finally!

  • You should do a tutorial for the diferrence Matte key on pro1.5.i cant make it work right......

    Nice work btw

  • thank you for uploading this video

  • Wow. A tutorial on youtube that is actually INCREDIBLY informative and helpful. Thank you!

  • O_O...THIS IS THAT I NEED...hvat for that!!!.......omg that program is not cheap =/

  • DO WHATEVER YOU WANT BECEAUSE A PIRATE IS FREE... YOU ARE A PIRATE ( guess what i did i pirated it )

  • is adobe priemere better than sony vegas 8?

  • yup, then avids better than that, then final cut is the best

  • One question:

When you've got only a partial green screen in the shot, how can you create an environment as if the green screen were everywhere? Like on 1.25, we see him in a studio, and yet EVERYTHING is replaced by the science fiction environment.

  • Garbage mattes can be used to cancel out areas that do not have a green screen. However, the subject cannot be in front of these areas as they will be canceled out by the garbage matte.

  • so you got to get chroma key where can i get it would it work on a laptop.

  • you need to have adobe premiere to do this

  • good stuff man .

  • using a matte for more detail

  • still got some green line at down your shoulder.....bringdown the keylight ....i don't know that name huh....but in keylight family

  • the background was done in green screen also. It was just a picture, and they were acting in front of a greenscreen. They just put a green cloth over their body to make it invisible.

  • for your info, this was the way they did the harry potter scene.

  • thats the first thing i thought of but there could have been a better program they used than adobe premiere... or not

  • Haha, reminds me of Harry Potter. This looks like it would be really fun to do if I got a good camera one day :]

  • Thanks. Please do more Adobe premiere videos.

  • great tutorial!

  • This is a fantastic tutorial. Where did you find the background picture? I think it's great.

  • I can't remember where I got the pic, but glad you like it.

  • I'm shocked its worked so well for you. I found (using premiere pro 7) that you really need to evenly light the Green Screen or else it doesnt key out well.

However if you over-light the screen I also find that the green will bounce back on the subject causing more problems...

  • wow finally i understand how to make what i have in mind

  • Thank you. Short, sweet, and useful.
