  • damn nearly 20yrs ago..& theyre still my #1 band!!!! ((~i(heart)scott weiland!!~))

  • Scott is the the best singer in the world ever, even though drugs have changed his voice a bit over the years, he's still very gifted at performing covers and singing his own songs fairly well even this day and age. I'm very impressed with Scott.

  • So unpolished...so good.

  • stp are stone cold winners ****** !!!

  • brace yourselves.....STONE....TEMPLE PILOTS......

AHHAAHHA microphone not working, can't hear a thing. :D

  • I don't give a mfs what anyone in here thinks, I'll take STP over that dude that a bullet in his skull anyday.

  • STP really doesn't fit in with grunge, I mean sorta, but they're really just a straight up hard rock band...and a fucking great one at that.

  • Sound guy was just as high as everyone else.

  • Whoa, Scott totally miffed his lyrics up on both verses. I thought after all the years of heavy drug use, it was just how he is now, but apparently hes been miffing lyrics since the beginning. Haha. Still love me some STP!

  • If Nirvana = The Beatles, STP = Led Zeppelin

  • @superdude13666 i dunno man i dont think nirvana had nearly as many hits as the beatles. these new age nirvana fanboys are getting on my nerves. they get hyped up so much its disgusting. they were awesome, but relax a little you eager little fucks

  • I FUCKIN LUV THAT PART "BURN BURN BURN!!!!!!! BURN YOUR WICKED GARDEN NOW!!!!!!" I HAVE MY BURNT AS WE SPEAK, wat would we do with out music

  • Lil Layne lol. Get it... get it,hehe *sigh :D

  • this one is 4 u cuz. never like this again,k. love u, D.

  • scotts got the sly jive shuffle goin

  • Did they kiss at the end of the song?

  • opinions vary dude

  • STP...the heaviest band of the 90s

  • @kmars21 that would be Alice in Chains, followed closely by Soundgarden, not STP. Don't get me wrong, STP is great, but definitely NOT "the heaviest band of the 90s".

  • @gimmetehroids Pantera?

  • @kmars21

it's definitely not the heaviest band of the 90s. only the first album was heavy. after that, the music became softer and more touching

  • guitar @ 2:03 = epic

  • side A 1 meatplow 2 vasoline 3lounge fly 4 interstate love song 5 still remains 6pretty penny side B 1silver gun superman 2 big empty 3 unglued 4 army ants 5 kitchenware and candy bars. the songs on purple i bought purple in cassette back when i also bought a new cassette player cassette player was fucked up took back player 4got cassette still in it remembered a few days later doh yea i know

  • sounds so good for 240p!

  • The message here is so simple:

    DON'T DO DRUGS!

  • I want 'thick" Scott Weiland over "thin" SW. :)

  • Probably he's a Fan, Such a good band

  • Watch a Robert Deleo tribute at my channel!

  • It's just so perfect.

  • can anyone please tell me the name of the stp song its track #5 on purple i cant find it nowhere on here i need to know the name please an thanks

  • @schwill81 Still Remains?

  • STP Rocks!!!

  • It doesn't any better than this! SW, was the shit and still is the shit! Rock and Fucking STP ROLL Baby!

  • i like the way he moves. its sexy as fuck. so is the voice...the writing...the music...perfect.

  • if you're genuinely WORRIED about the Weiland dance...you are kind of missing the point of Stone Temple Pilots.

It's about MUSIC. You fucking CHILDREN.

  • at 2:04 all girls in the crowd Came.

  • bad jam

  • Yeah....SWU Brazil 14 november....

  • i'm proud to listen to this stuff. f'ck the fashion, lol.

  • @byers214: that's a fact.

  • One of the best "Front Men" in the game.....

  • ;DDD

  • Buuurrrnnn burrrrnn burrrrrrrrnnnnnnn!

  • i wonder if he danced like that at his high school prom

  • i like stp but his dancing makes him look RETARDED ! i dont care what anyone sayz im a fan of theirs but facts are facts..

  • 43 people need to crawl back under a rock

  • excelente stone temple pilots for ever!!!

  • woah havent seen him with a beard in a long, long time

  • @easy2120 Yep...Yep... And then he had to wipe the cum off the knobs and soundboard afterwards, lol!

  • Rock and roll prevails ............

  • this is proof that heroin makes music better.

  • @dchockeygoali07 there are a lot more examples of heroin musicians before ..lou reed,hendrix,SRV,joe perry,the stones...etc...oh..and cobain...etc....etc...etc...

  • @dchockeygoali07 Well the riff was written by the Deleos, which as far as I know never did the drug thing, and Weiland has said he wrote Core completely sober.

  • 2:35

he knows how to use his mind

learn how to make money with him ^^

  • I can't believe this was almost 20 years ago

  • My favorite live performance by STP!

  • Almost as intense as Mark Gormley.

  • He dances like Charlie Brown twisting nipples.

  • masters of the drop 2:03 and 3:32. great energy. one of the best live performances on letterman

  • ...and the Weiland Dance was just starting.

  • @junior311 And oh what a dance! Weird but so fucking cool!

  • Cant wait to see them at Borgata!!!!

  • Ah, 1993. When Scott Weiland danced like a methed out cokehead, but wasn't one...yet.

  • @GAdawgsfan93 thank god he survived and is now clean.

  • scott weiland was so fucking sexy, his dance moves in this fucking performance are the best.

  • He was the best vocalist in grunge period before drugs turn him into a man with a weak voice

  • Scott Weiland is one SEXY MOTHA F*cker!!

  • This band Kicked ass like no one else.

  • 93!!!!!! goddam im getin old

  • now...THAT'S WHAT I CALL DANCING!!!

  • scott makes me think about Layne Staley here :) , great performance !

  • Ya got to give it up for his moves! STP a great band and always will be.

  • STP = zepplin of the 90's

  • @lastnameleonard

110% agree and the drummer could sit in for Mr. Bonham anytime!

  • Say what you will... freakazoid frontman, grunge opportunists, whatever... these guys kick serious ass.

  • Yo nolson could'nt agree more ...I had'nt gone back this far ... Scott looks so fucking solid !!!! I always thought he was just skinny ......Any way not gonna throw rocks here...the man can sing.....

  • scott here looks better without the drugs.

  • Scott is a fucking piece of art!:DD

  • Monster tone

  • Press play, then press 9 multiple times.

Also works with 5 and 6.

    Enjoy :D.

BTW 2:09 move is epic :D.

  • My God does Scott look completely different or what!? He looks like an entirely different person! And he actually seems pretty cool here compared to now....he looks like a cock suckin junkie pedofile these days.....

  • I think STP certainly had grunge elements, the deep voice (at the start) and the dirty riffs. But STP went on to do a whole lot more. I think STP and The Smashing Pumpkins should simply be called alternative. Both bands had way more variety and scope than Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc.

  • @mrlee192 I don't think that PJ or Nirvana or Soundgarden have a similar sound called grunge. they're all alternative rock and that's all. The only difference is the place they formed. Seattle. and STP are from San Diego, California. BTW i love this song and this album but I like more Soundgarden Nirvana and PJ than STP.

  • @mrlee192 Very well put. I agree with pretty much everything you said.... however, I think Nirvana can also be called "alternative". Those were some different sounding albums from album to album and they had a shorter time to show it than the longer careers of PJ , Soundgarden, and STP for that matter (who are one of my all time favorite bands).

  • <3 his dancing at 2:29.

  • What band... with a viking drumming, Don Corleone playing the bass, a hairball playing the guitar and a frigging awesome Scott Weiland... can't be awesome? STP is the sh!t ...

  • Fuck me. THIS IS ROCK & ROLL.

  • fucking rad.

  • i totally prefer this scott to the one that was with velvet revolver ( way to fag)

  • 4:03, man on man kiss?

  • After all these years, Scott still dances exactly like that. :)

  • @heathharper81 AND WE STILL LIKE IT !!!!!

  • haha spastic scott dancing

  • rock ever

  • letterman needs to get plugs or something, he's so much more sane with hair.

  • Does anyone know if that was a kiss he gave the bassist at the end, was it a homosexual thing, i didnt know weiland was gay

  • @sewerrod No, he's not gay. He's been married twice.

  • @sewerrod he does it 4 entertainment value

  • burn that blunt

  • grunge is so different from any other kind of music it has a little of every thing in it and some of the best bands where grunge like Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana

  • @alex243x the lead singer of red hot chillies used to frequently tongues his bass plass for photos...saw a few..fucking grosse i know...doesnt mean its cool just cuz ur famous!! fags!

  • Weiland's dance put the sound man in a trance for a minute, then he woke up.

  • apparently core and libertad were the only albums Scott made without any drugs

  • @fildeps i can gaurenttee you core was made while he was on drugs. He started using herion in early 1993. He was using when they wrote the ablum. Some of the songs if you actually listen to the lyrics and interpret them in the right way there about herion dumbass.

  • @kamikazi5489 i dont clame to know anything about his habbits but most of core was written by 1990 including this song. also the album was released in 1992... which means you completely invalidated your point by saying he started in 93. should call people dumbasses when your own stories kinda sketchy

  • @kamikazi5489 He wrote this in 1990 "dumbass"

  • @kamikazi5489 Forget for a moment that everything you just said has no basis in fact...only your "interpretation"... Scott doesn't discuss the "real" meaning behind his songs. He's often said he wants people to take from it whatever they want and once brought up how an artist who told all about what a song 'meant' he was let down, because it couldn't be what he thought of it anymore. it's kinda like finding out who Batman is...sure, you know his identity, but he's who he is cuz the mask

  • @underst4nd that and he was prob wasted beyond belief when he wrote half their hits lol. and when he's sober has nooo idea wtf he's talkin bout. but i still love it!! and i still love scott!!

  • Wicked Garden waste a will won when winning was wicked...

  • This song might have hints of grunge, but in no way is STP a grunge band!! Holy shit they might be the most diverse band ever, after Core they went alternative, pop-rock, alternative metalish, psychedelic, and now it seems more classic rock. But every album had mixtures of everything. If you even want to see some really cool shit, check out Scott's solo albums. Some weird stuff, but some of it is beyond amazing.

  • @stewartmc7 The whole album is grungy, but after that there were no traces of grunge in STP whatsoever.

  • @stewartmc7 Purple had some grunge in it

  • They made their first trip to oz this month. 18 f#ckin years in waiting!!!

  • amazing. beyond, amazing.

  • This isnt grunge its alternate.

the De'leo Brothers are the masters of Alternate rock.

  • @Voltuss5 alterna-tive welcome to 20 years ago

  • @Voltuss5 this would definitely be considered grunge my friend.

  • probably the best live performance of the decade.

letterman + heroin = winning combination.

  • Scott weiland reminds me of lane staly im glad at least one of them is still alive. RIP LANE

  • @lopezjay7 Layne Staley. If you have got respect for him, you should respect his names.

  • long live scott weiland and the entire band.

  • What is that dance????!?!?!?!

  • @TheBobbyalone That dance is pure awesomeness!

  • oooooo Scott..holy hot stuff!!!

  • About the shirts.....they probably are from the 60's. The 90s were a time when you were cutting edge if you could find something retro. Goodwill and the Salvation army became "vintage clothing markets" and tacky drab colors were the coolest. Oh yeah, and so were flannel shirts, shorts, and boots. Yes in that combination.

  • simple the best!!!!!!

  • :42....I think he dropped his bag of dope on the floor

  • :42....I think he dropped bag of dope on the floor

  • Scott + Heroin = "GOOD TUNES"

  • I love STP but....The DeLeo brothers must have found their shirts in their fathers closet in a paper bag marked "-60's".

  • lol dont forget to turn his mic on

  • Heroin Shuffle.

  • they need to get back on drugs and start writing some good music again.

  • Weiland fucking rocks!

  • Letterman should be proud he introduced this band the TV audience... good thing STP chose his show to be "IT"

  • POWER!!!!

  • STP exemplifies why the 90's was the best era for music since the 60's

  • The Heroin Shuffle. Classic Timeless Shit.

  • STP fucking rule

  • gotta love the Scott Weiland silly dance

  • so... is he layne staley's brother or somethin??? heheh

  • these guys are like one of the main reasons why music was better in the early 90's

  • Sound man fired @ 0:48

  • Scott can make his way through my wicked garden any time..

  • @MsBrit78 lmao

  • 41 people missed the like button.... for future reference it's the thumbs up lmao

  • Scott is looking much healthier back then

  • @leilighet205 yeah its before he got really bad into herion. you can look and tell hes on herion during this performance. but it didnt start taking effect on his body till a couple years later. now almost 2 decades later look at him. just skin and bones and beyong strung out. however he is one of the best musicians and frontman in the world. he is absolutely brilliant. he just let herion destroy him.

  • god! they were so solid!

  • 4 Speed Rock n Roll Band ROCKS!!!! STP.......

  • Scott looks like a Monkey dancing with tarzan !! gggggg' awesome music

  • Awesome... Letterman's First TV Debut With stp!...Scott's Dance Is N()ICE, Fuck Yea!!!

  • @MrRTNYE the dance is due to the herion. he dances like that cuz he is really high off herion and its making his whole body feel beyond amazing. ive never done herion but ive done other hard drugs, no im not bragging or condoning the behavior, just saying drugs do make you feel and your whole body feel beyond amazing like your floatin. well depending on what you do. vicodin makes me feel beyond amazing, but i usually take 3 10mg at once and then smoke alot of dro. feels like im floating on air.

  • @kamikazi5489 you do realize this gig was long before scott had met with Heroin

he didnt start using that drug until about 1994 when he had started, changing.. and when he had gotten caught somewhere around His Magnificent bastards gig

this is early in there career, long before he had met the butthole sufers & before he was on anything other then Cigarettes..

he has always danced like that.. since prob the last 80's when they were mighty joe young.

your not accurate on your story there friend

  • @prod1gyxfxa if what you were saying was actually true then you would have a really good point. but you sir are completely wrong. He started using herion in 1993 when STP toured with the Butthole Surfers and got addicted, claiming Butthole Surfers singer Gibby Haynes introduced him to heroin, which Gibby denies. Came straight from Scott Weilands own mouth during a interview. Go look it up dumbass. Do some fucking research before you try to act like you know what your talking about.

  • @prod1gyxfxa People like you piss me off. Think they know everything, when they actually dont know shit about what their talking about. Thats why I usually just laugh at yall and continue about my day. But today I felt like I should put your retarded ass in check and prove to you your a complete dumbass. Have a good day you fucking idiot.

  • @kamikazi5489 Blah.. blah.. blah... blah.. blah.

  • Comment removed

  • @kamikazi5489 Maybe he's just sick, like I am, of reading comments like "He's so high I can tell 'cause I'm a drug expert" on every live performance of every band in the history of music. You can't tell. You weren't there. You don't know. We ALL know he did heroin, but you can't point at this video and say, "LOOK he's dancing funny! That's clear evidence that he's high on heroin." People can dance funny without heroin. I'm not saying you're wrong, he might be high, but you can't know for sure.

  • @iendacard You're right. And to give this a little more support, I will paraphrase Scott's exwife Mary Weiland's book: She says that the night after this performance, STP performed another gig (I can't remember the venue) and that night Scott failed to meet Mary saying that he was sick. It turns out that that night was the first time he had tried heroine. That is, the night after this Letterman performance.

Obviously he could have been doing all sorts of other drugs here. Just saying..

  • @iendacard I think they might be saying that because the way his mouth is moving when he sings look at Kurt and Layne on certain performances they move they're mouth a wierd way and on other shows they don't. Also it could also be because the sunglasses.

  • @MrRTNYE once again not condoning drug use or bragging, just saying that some shit just makes you feel amazing and makes you want to dance like that.

  • Comment removed

  • this had to be the begining of their career cause i dont hear people cheering the whole time

  • Remember seeing this on Letterman and cheering so loud - already had the album and was so into it.

  • soundcheck sucked for Alice in Chains too on Letterman. Scott's mic wasn't on at the start.

  • @RamonesSkater4life They drowned out Jerrys guitar and put some weird ass effects on Laynes voice. Its like that with almost all of the older Letterman performances I see.

  • @Chesenips980 It was pretty cool ill admit but they had a shitty backround band playing alongside, but they stopped when they switched to We Die Young that was badass!!!

  • Scott is such a good dancer. LOL that was totally cool.

  • I started reading Mary Weiland's memoir yesterday and she talks about this performance in Chapter Six. It's a really good book and I can't seem to put it down.

  • @VanessaKrystle what did she say about it? Ive been trying to look for the book in my neighborhood library but they never seem to have it.

  • @metallifan84 Apparently he had just broken up with his long-time girldfriend and he had wanted to meet up with Mary right after this performance. She had been waiting for him for so long and he finally was unattached -- they met that night in his hotel room (or hers, I can't remember) and she knew he finally belonged to her. So, while I watched this performance, all I could think about was what must have been going through his mind, knowing that he'd see Mary afterwards. Sweet story.

  • @VanessaKrystle wow thats quite a story. you really brought me a new perspective when i watch this now. thanks so much for that. I cant wait to read the whole thing.
