ok, the FED needs to be audited and more transparent. This should be the case without exception. However, considering the power struggles in Washington neither side can be trusted to do the right thing with this power.
(Reuters) - The Federal Reserve paid a record $46.1 billion to the U.S. Treasury last year as aggressive bond purchases and lending to fight the financial crisis swelled its net income by 46.8 percent.
The Fed's payment represents an increase of $14.4 billion over its 2008 contribution and was the largest since the U.S. central bank was launched in 1914. Its 2009 net income of $52.1 billion also was a record.
I think history will look back on Obama as a failed experiment. Just look at the highest deficet in the history of America within the first 100 days in office.
@6stringgunslinger: I didn't vote for Obama and don't support him at all - BUT you're being ridiculous. We are in a recession because the Bush administration invaded 2 nations (which cost trillions) and bailed out their Wall St. buddies (which also cost trillions). The Obama administration is wrong for continuing Bush policies but don't blame them for George Wall St. Bush's fuckups.
Jim DeMint is Awesome ! I'm proud that He's representing My state in the Senate. Now! If only we can get rid of Lindsey Graham! I am disgusted with this piece of Trash !
So you are saying what? That Jim DeMint is part of conspiracy? So he's trying to get to the Federal Reserve, which involves rothschilds, rockerfeller, and even Obama himself in a way, and you are saying he is on their side? You think he censored you directly? Maybe it was youtube, or maybe you were just annoying the person who runs the channel. Think before you speak.
Thank you Senator, I just sent an email to my rep, Nelson, which will probably go unread asking him to support you or risk losing this country on his watch.
More than enough blame to go around both parties re the lack of oversight of the Federal Reserve. No time like the present to bring their secrets out in the open. Putting the blame on the Obama Administration is appropriate because they wish to continue doing nothing about audits just like all past administrations.
And further the Fed's power by letting them control all financial institutes. Amazing how some of the Ron Paul youth secondly supported Obama. It shows a real lack of understanding into politics. Obama has appearance, Ron Paul has LOGIC. RP for the win. But like I said, Ron Paul wants to AUDIT the fed, Obama wants to give it MORE power. Change for all you who voted Obama alright, you will be screaming in the years to come.
Not so much us, though I suspect that hurricane *may* hit sooner rather than later, but our children and our grandchildren will be left with an even *lower* standing of living than what we have today! Think about your parents and grandparents, how many raised 3+ kids with only one parent working? And how many households have both parents working now and are struggling to get by? DeMint, you kickass sir! My Senators are a sheep (casey) and a traitor (specter).
Why blame this administration and call for the audit now? Maybe because of this administrations intentions to give the Fed powers WELL beyond its scope. Its funny, the left spent years crying about Bush and his policies being unconstitutional, and yet 0bama has done more harm to the constitution in the last 6 months than in the last 50 years.
Did Mr. DeMint introduce this bill in the 110th? 109th? 108th? 107th? 106th? etc.? I fully support this bill. But stop blaming the current administration, 6 months in, for problems that are decades in the making.
