shut up everyone he is hitting the right notes and the right octave... he is just playing them on the lower strings higher up on the neck, for everyone that says they are not right you are tone deaf. its sounds different because since it is the lower strings it has a more warmer/bassy sound. rather than starting on the 7th fret of the A string.

The general rule of thumb is 4 down, 2 up. That means bend the first 2 stings up or else they'll kinda come off the fretboard. And the other 4 strings, G to low E, bend them down. Watch Doug Steele (aka Shred Durst) about vibrato.

you'll also know that the inlays are the open book style.. gisbon uses square or almost trapazoid shaped inlays.

he's got the tab right man, he's using kirks actual performance notes, the notes you find on guitar tab sites is completely wrong, it's probably cut and paste from cherry lane or something.. but he's got it right...

Dude nice, thats one of my favorite intro solos from Metallica. My favorite thing about the video was the tone. I guess its from the EMG's? I'm thinking about buying Seymour Duncan Blackouts as they are 20bucks less that EMG's and supposedly less noise. What do you recommend? Would this be an okay choice in trying to imitate Black Album and Master of Puppet Album tones?

EMG's rock downside you have to replace batteries upside - they pick up every tone you can possibly make otu of a guitar harmonics and all i would go the extra $ 20.00 but thats just me - seymnours are bad ass as well - btu all my guitars have emg's and that is what metallica uses pretty much exclusive

I like the part from Cliff's bass solo at the end. Excellent tone, but theres a lot of pick noise -- I have that problem too. I use really thick picks but when I'm practicing solos I use really thin ones, which is pretty impractical since you can't switch mid-song. What's a neat way to get rid of pick-noise without expensive equipment?

Pick noise is what made the kill 'em all solos the best; you can tell they aren't edited up to the nines like one or enter sandman. Gives it that authentic thrash feel ;)

It shouldn't be much of a problem at higher volumes though.
