Poison is not resisted by Bug-types, so Smog was only 1/2 effective.

Dustox has super resistance to Smog: 1/4 damage, poison type so it can't get poisoned, and Shield Dust ability would prevent the poison from occuring anyway. Axle is an idiot.

Bide sucks: even if you are a tank have the defenses to use it, why give the opponent 2 free turns? You could spend them setting up buffs, healing, attacking... Not locking yourself into a move that is easily countered by switching, buffing/debuffing, or just plain knocking you out.
