I think that's one of the reasons Boxing was popular in Rocky's day. He was not just a terrific boxer, but he had a very humble attitude that made people look up to and respect him. Most boxers today I feel have an ego that turns off a lot of viewers. They all want to be M. Ali and saying they are the greatest and such...boxing fans know otherwise.

Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter, but he is not a heavyweight and he fights very often. A true heavyweight champion fights 4-5 times a year and fights like 6 times a year when comming up in the ranks of not 10-15 fights.Now you got David Haye who fights once every blue moon and does not do great.

Listen, I boxed for 7 1/2 yrs & I also did mma. I have to say that any average mma fighter would beat a champion boxer because boxing is so limited to only throwing punches. Boxers have no take down defense and theres nothing a boxer can do when the mma fighter goes to take him down.

Boxing is too limited & very incomplete to say that they could go in the ring with an mma fighter. MMA fighters are usually well rounded & as soon as they know that they're going to fight a boxer, they simply take the boxer down and submit him. The boxer cant stop this due to his lack of takedown defense & boxers arent used to being on their backs. There has been many boxers who stepped into the octagon when UFC 1st started &have lost because they think they can go in there & only box.

Boxing needs someone inthe heavyweight division who is exciting like Tyson or Young George Foreman or Frazier or Muhammad Ali. Until that happens we are going to continue in the state we are in now. Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter, but he is not a heavyweight and he fights very often. A true heavyweight champion fights 4-5 times a year and fights like 6 times a year when comming up in the ranks of not 10-15 fights.Now you got David Haye who fights once every blue moon and does not do great.

Boxing is too limited & very incomplete to say that they could go in the ring with an mma fighter. MMA fighters are usually well rounded & as soon as they know that they're going to fight a boxer, they simply take the boxer down and submit him. The boxer cant stop this due to his lack of takedown defense & boxers arent used to being on their backs. There has been many boxers who stepped into the octagon when UFC 1st started &have lost because they think they can go in there & only box.

I am a full contact martial artist. I started boxing in LA at 20. Once I got kicks down, I beat the shit out of any boxer that was stupid enough to think he could fight me with only half a body. You boxers have always been very arrogant, lacking the reality and discipline of martial artists. So in boxing if your getting pummeled you have to deal with the beating, in MMA, you simply lunge in around the guys waist and go for a take down instead of dealing with the guys fire power. Basically MMA is making a sport out of "say Uncle".

UFC fighters cannot take a big punch, they have no co-ordination, their upper body defense is shit, they are very slow on their feet, and they all have awful stamina. I think Marciano was a great fighter with big heart and incredible endurance, who should never be criticized, not even after 50 years since he retired, because it was always guys like him, who pushed boxing on higher level. Louis wasn't washed up as people say he was... he was on a 8 fight consecutive knockout streak and was probably the favourite coming into the fight with Marciano. Max Schmeling put him in his place when the American media all bragged Louis was near enough to unbeatable... He beat Every opponant he ever faced,
Undefeated in 49 fights with 95% of them KOs.
No other W has ever done that.
Archie Moore, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe Walcott, all got Knocked the F*ck out by the Rock.
Rocky parlyzed people, put them in comas, had to have their welts surgically removed. And no one wanted to fight him for that reason.

When Marciano retired undefeated his critics immediately pointed to his opponents saying they were over-the-hill or this and that... but to me is a easy cop out... you look his record and tell me which other fighter has a better 49 fight record than his?! The answer none. The greatest pound-for-pounder therefore is Rocky Marciano... marginally ahead of Sugar Ray Robinson in my opinon.

@NazhitsREALLYHARD Yeah, I read that. I was just stating my opinion that Sugar Ray Robinson was the better fighter, in my opinion. Personally I don't have Marciano in my top 5 pound for pound of all time. That's taking nothing away from Marciano.1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Muhammad Ali 3. Willie Pep 4. Henry Armstrong 5. Jimmy Wilde. That is my top 5, but its just my opinion.

Rocky's fighter were rarely over 200 pounds.
Modern steriod pumped fighters with big necks would be harder to put down.
But Rocky did have a very hard punch but not the hardest.

Read the interviews of those that fought him, every punch he threw hurt.
He trained with 3000 pound bags.
He beat everyone in front of him..Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Jersey Joe Walcott, Joe Louis, Knocking out 90% of hi sopponants.
He did it at 185-190..opponants were larger, and no one wanted to fight him
