  • really? REALLY? really? No.....really?

  • This is just, just tragic. Like Perry Como singing "I'm So Excited" or Gene Simmons singing "How Lovely to be a Woman," it's and inappropriate song choice her as a person and for her voice.

  • She's no Bianca Ryan.

  • LMAO!!! This is hilarious!!!! What, were the Reba royalties too high??

  • OUt of all the songs she could have sung! REALLY???? o_O (confused)

  • OMG. Horrific. Truly.

  • You're gonna LOOOoooooOOOoooOOOOVVE.....

    meeeeeeee.

  • i thought she did good? Why does everyone think this is so terrible?

  • WHITE PEOPLE

  • *Insert ironic compliment on her performance here*

  • reminiscent of Pat Boone. She is a good singer, but this song is not for her. more power to her though, for attempting the song.

  • damn white folks just all fucked up

  • this is pathetic....

  • i think she did a good job :)

  • What part is she from????

  • um. stop.

  • she's so over dramatic. with her song style and movements. not.cool.

  • AMAZING! NAILED IT !

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW snort. OMG i can't believed you commented. HAHAH made my day :3

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW very funny...this lacked so much emotion and soul

  • my voice teacher had me listen to this to see how not to sing a broadway song!!! lml :)

  • HAHAHAHAH

  • this is like some SNL bit

  • whoa she has teeth

  • It's like she got singing lessons from Don "No Soul" Simmons (Look him up)

  • I thought Miss America Pageant contestants weren't supposed to be flat.

  • the biggest problem is that she has NO IDEA what she is singing about - so she's re arranged the song to "showcase" her way of singing... but it's just completely destroyed the song...

  • theres no way i cannnnnnnnnnn- nah!

    wow

  • it's not because she's white. it's because she can't sing...

  • I know this song and I found myself thinking at some point, "What is this supposed to be about again?" Lol!

  • OMG! That has to be the very very very worst interpretation of this song... EVER!!!!!! I sure hope she lost!

  • If critics had never heard Jennifer Holliday's verison they would not be as critical.

  • @Blinglover Watch 1:23, 2:14, and the entire ending sequence, THEN tell me that.

  • @Blinglover Aaaaaaand, it's not Jennifer Holliday's song. It's not a pop song. It's a piece written specifically for the role of Effie White, and she is a big ol' soulful black woman. You can't just commandeer it as a blonde-haired white chick and expect to have no judgment. It's like a bunch of white people doing The Wiz.

  • @DirtyRottenScoundrel I think you're comment is fair. But just thought you might wanna use a different example than the Wiz considering you know... it's a "black" version of the wizard of Oz... so it's kinda funny saying that it's like white people doing the Wiz when really the Wiz is "black" people doing The Wizard of Oz...

  • Lordy........she has no CLUE what the song is about. No no no no way.

And that last note - "meeeee-eee-eee"- in her soprano is just loverly.

  • LOL NO

  • damn. she's goood.

  • @DirtyRottenScoundrel, lol at the "vanillafication. lololol I'm visually impaired, and she even sounds like 40, po thang. lol

  • Dear White Girls of the World,

Please, for the love of all that is good, stop trying to sing songs written specifically for black characters. There are very few of you who can actually do the songs justice. (If you can, I'm jealous!) Trust me, there are plenty of songs out there for white characters that are just as good.

    With love,

    Your fellow white girl.

  • Wow...that's uhh...horrible!

  • This is so sad, and not because she's bad. She's a good singer--in tune, expressive. But it's the wrong song for the poor thing! She should have been singing something from THE LITTLE MERMAID. Oh, it's funny as all get out though. I hope she's having a good life and has a good sense of humor about some of these comments. That is, if she cares!

  • ewww.. I was so bored watching this and she totally ruined the song for me I see her singing something out of My Fair Lady.....

  • I don't believe that some songs are "white people songs" and some are "black people songs"...After listening to this, maybe I change my opinion....LOL I am pale as chicken, but this song was WAY too White for me...LOL

  • After being with this video for a year, I've moved past her vanillification of the song...now I'm realizing that she's 24?!?!?!? Does she not look 40 to anybody else?

  • @DirtyRottenScoundrel That makes sense, actually. Since this was about 17 years ago, that would make her about 42 now. And styles tend to stick to their "prime," if that makes sense.

  • yuck!!!

  • I see a duet with Bill Murray in her future...

  • She didn't win ya'll... She didn't win.

  • This is so white that listening to it has made me blind.

  • OH HEEEEEEEELLLL NO!!

  • No one is going to love you darling! Im so very sorry about it! That last " ME" has really out done me! Please sing " I feel pretty" or some shit like that!

  • LOL lily white.

  • Wow. that was....white.

  • LMAO...Girl are you kidding me?? Poor thing....

  • OK.

1.) it is sacrilege for a skinny white girl who can't belt to sing this. WHAT was her team thinking? There are so many Olivia Newton John songs out there that she could butcher and noone would even know!

2.) I LOVE the choreographed "look-look" after "not walkin' out"--YES!

3.) I LOVE the wimpy headvoice at the very last "meeee"--YES!

4.) I LOVE the "happy/excited" and you, and you, and you--YES!

I havn't laughed this hard/been this enamored with a video in forever. I can't stop watching!

  • Good God that sucked. It was like a bad Star Search performance with the long held out note. Her last note on the word "me" made me laugh out loud. I'm praying she keeps her singing to herself and stops inflicting it on others.

  • Wat.

  • THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THAT NIGHT CAME FORM THE WINNER SOUTH CAROLINA!!! WHICH WAS THE BEST..

  • People saying this is the "white version"? That is so racist. White people can have soul too, this has no soul. Stop being racist.

  • she can sing man...she flap up d song doe...she should have sung something from Alice in Wonderland or Grease though!!!!

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • this is why white people shouldn't sing this song (and this is coming from a white girl :P)

  • Thanks to whoever posted this. I was having a bad day, and was in need of a good laugh. Now I can see why the South lost the Civil War...

  • @muscled57 I don't remember the Civil War having a talent competition.

  • I don't know if I should feel sorry for her or laugh at her.........................that was just horrible! That's exactly how Blair from the "Facts of Life" would sing it.

  • For her talent she should have picked up quarters from the stage with her pussy.

  • beautiful in it's complete absurdity. AMAZING.

  • The female Pat Boone.

  • Absolutely delightful...for all the wrong reasons.

  • There are sooo many other songs that would hve suited voice but that song. but yet she choice this song.

  • EPIC FAIL! I mean EPIC! ROFLMBAO!

  • how dreadful. [/dwight]

  • She made it her own! LOL!

  • I'm sorry but - its a beauty contest isn't it, I get it - shemale, must be!?

  • Poor Ms. Arkansas, All these years later, and we're still laughing. Ms. Arkansas, The time has come for you to lipsynch for your life. Good luck and don't fuck it up!

  • @WESTFREE2 I am currently LMAO @ your comment! And don't forget "*8Itch you betta WORK!"

  • @jewelz2k5: It's such a thrill to laugh; glad you had a good one, and don't forget to thank Ms. Arkansas.

  • Holy back phrasing, Batman!

  • she's probably pissed they didn't pick her for the movie.......oops.

  • This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Love it.

  • Her take on the song makes no sense.

  • Wow...it couldn't be more terrible if she tried to make it worse. SMH...

  • whoa.

  • This is one of the most HORRIBLE performances of this song ever! I never knew this song could be "whitened" up this much! This performance would make the composers of Dreamgirls wants take back the show. I've been a friend of Jennifer Holliday's for over 20 years and she would be horrified by this!. I can't wait to call her and tell her to watch it. She will laugh her ass off.

  • oh no no no no no no no no .... way

  • What an excruciatingly horrible song choice!!! Were all the Connie Francis songs taken?!! This really pisses me off.

  • O_O Lord Jebus, what the hell is this shit?

  • She had to do it an octave below? What the fuck? Who let her do this?

  • Can you hear it? Yeah... you can hear it... that's the sound of Miss Arkansas sucking the soul out of that song.

  • psh bahahaha.

  • I felt like I just took some prozac and everything is suddenly mellow...

  • this is soooo corny and square i hate when people butcher black classical songs

  • I love how she's singing it in a total man-key...

not to mention her amazing riffs ;-)

  • The whitest version of this song ever.

  • @Saphalicia LOL! You are funny!

  • Well,to appreciate this rendition-one needs to understand the year is 1994 and IT IS MISS AMERICA ! The woman is beautiful, yet to folks of 2010 era that "look" seems "older" from your perspective. There was a time when women looked adult for 24 and acted mature..not like the current crop of alot of young women that appear to advertise SEX APPEAL mainly. The singing is just a different "style".BTW, how many of YOU made it in the TOP 10 of Miss American as she did?...Right, I thought so!!!!

  • @WillisRay are you kidding me?!?!?!?!? She is a perfect example of the stealing they talk about in the show Dreamgirls. this is absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!

  • This. Is. Amazing. Thank you, Miss Arkansas.

  • How could you take all the soul out of a musical number?

  • @thatoneguybv give her credit.. she tried guess she couldent muster up unough soul xD

  • And I'm telling you there's no way she's 24

  • @EternallyUnseen Hilarious!!!! She did look older than 24!

  • Comment removed

  • and i am telling you, i can't sing and i'm NOT goin' > > >

  • Can we all just agree to love what happens at 1:22?

  • omg. ridiculous!

  • @sugacattey its perfection

  • Turn and pose!

  • I can agree with that!!

  • @sugacattey 1:22 is FABULOUS!

  • @sugacattey 1:22 is FABULOUS!

  • @sugacattey 1:22 is FABULOUS!

  • better than the original

  • yeah this is an embarrassing to watch her sing this. she doesn't even have to be soulful to do it either. search for Charice Pempengco I'm Telling You and she beats everyone's version even the original singer by a long shot for a kid. and she's asian! lol ^___^ Just saying.. thanks for the laughs

  • wow ur cool she sucks ass and im not black

  • So you do know that Dreamgirls is a Broadway musical based on the success of The Supremes, Jackie Wilson and James Brown....all of which are African Americans, or "black monkeys", you're referring to. EPIC FAIL on your part.

I'm surprised someone of your OBVIOUS intelligence could even have created a Youtube account for yourself. What an accomplishment for someone of your behavior and class.

(Note the sarcasm in those last two sentences..oops you may need a dictionary to look up "sarcasm".)

  • very true! Just not a song for her. And the song's been arranged like 2 or 3 octaves lower than the original.

  • that's uhhh...pretty embarrassing

  • OMG!

No no no no! no no no way IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'mmm listening to this!

  • Sista ain't just white. She Klan white!

Seriously, though...her manager(s), agent(s), etc. should have recommended against her singing that particular song. Too many people recognize it as a soulful song, and that's just not her voice. Her voice is actually fairly decent (pitch, rhythm, etc.), she's just not soulful. Nothing wrong with it, just pick a different song and showcase YOURself, not who you WISH you could be.

  • wow....

  • where is the soul? lmfao oh no!

  • My dog just started howling.

  • gross. horrible singing.... she can hold a note for a long time, but with such an awful voice. I think everyone was clapping in the end because they were happy for her to shut the fuck up!

  • WOW... I don't think I've ever heard it sung like this before... I think she sold her soul to the devil to be in the pageant so that's why it's not in the song, LMFAO

  • her.... singing.....issss...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I like her hair.

  • Look at me, I memorized the lyrics to this song, let me recite them to you.

  • haha! She looks stiff.

  • LOL! @1:23, right?

  • best.moment.EVER.

  • WOW that's bad. why is this on the most viewed list? oh, because it's good comedy?

  • bill clinton prolly tought her ther cigar trick too

  • no soul

  • Regis was never young.

  • Regis is not human, nor is he Regis. He just simply is.

  • LOL! The only thing more feeble than her singing this song, is witnessing some poor soul stroking himself on a you tube comment board.

  • Oh MY GOD!!!!!!!!! What the Hell was she thinking??? Ms Arkansas! Babe! Sometimes ... Song Choice is as important as what dress you're going to wear! This is embarrassing for white people! As a White Girl ... I say that! lol. Apologies to all the 'Diva's' out there who can actually sing this song!!!! WOW! lol. DAMN GINA! lol

  • lol, who thought this was a good song choice? Simon would say, Its a very karaoke performance. and pitchy

  • Paquita la del Barrio is better.

  • I think she's trying to get some thunder back. She's been in the shadows since 94 and is using Youtube to break back in.

  • Ehh it was ok lol. not dreadful or anything

  • wake me up when it's over.

  • I didn't love her.

  • I dont understand this? the song is okay, the voice is not bad...

  • bad song, pretty good voice.

  • that sucked big time

  • A clip from some beauty pageant in 1994 and you guys are arguing about racism?! Seriously I hereby change the name of this website from YouTube to ArgueForum

  • YOU TAKE THAT BACK!! lol

  • LOL @ Maxwedge12000 - fuckin' smartarse!

  • oooh, I can't believe this. Is it real?

  • what

  • FAKE

  • yeah .... nothing

  • arguing on youtube, wow. really?!?

  • Why is this here?? She's not good or fail enough for it to be viral (not that it is)... Why this random shit all the sudden?

  • Ignorance is bliss!

  • Agreed. That's why so many people are ignorant and racist like Obama and Bush.

  • OH MY EFFING GOD! She SUCKS!

  • Soulless alien.

  • This makes my ears bleed.

  • it's not that bad vocally... it's just missing a feeling of soul or something.... she's a decent singer but this song does not suit her.

  • If she is singing, she probably is a terrible dancer.

To be fair, her voice isn't one of a singing type. Atleast she tried.

  • Nice voice but was she really 24 in 1994? Maybe it's the makeup but she looks 34.

  • no way she is 24..

  • what does this prove? That It can only be sung by a sistah? no fair to talented people. This girl might not have the appropiate voice but THIS wasn't bad.
