@yinoway yeah, actually he's 91, and I saw him tonight with Georfe Mraz and Willie Jones III. All I can say he's that I've heard 3 great musicians, and a living legend (Hank). By the way, Mraz just left me amazed! He's the best bass player I've seen live! And I had a little conversation with him at the end of the show, and he was very nice, talking about musicians that he played, and music at all... By the way, Hank was "unavailable" to give any autographs but I saw him at his resting room ahah
Joe Lovano is my favorite sax player EVER!!!!!! This is friggin AWESOME!!!! Lewis Nash and Hank Jones were also in their respective elements. This is one of my favorite YouTube vids ever.
Needless to say everybody was in rare form on this. Unbelieveable! The groove is swinging so hard. Lovano is a true master as Hank Jones shows royalty in his finesse. Lewis Nash is the most swingingest drummer on earth he's playing never ceases to amaze me. He is always listening to everyone and when it's his turn to go, watch out! Thanks to whoever put this up.
went to a gig last night after watching this and thought about dudes moving sets around on stage... and giggled to myself... there's hints of tea for two in there somewhere....
Mr. Jones is a bit like watching kids spouting poetry at 6months old... maybe 3 years : )
Is he singing what he plays? Or does he read the changes? In any case, his playing is great. And George Mraz is hitting one of these wonderful solos: very melodic and rhythmic at the same time. Nice stopps at around 7:30, many little hints at other standards. Great job while reading the changes, too!
Hey, this piano guy is 90 years old?
I can't believe it
