@InoLikesYaoi in the English dub version, which is the one you probably watched when you were little, they were just really close friends. In the Japanese original version, they do actually both like each other, and though you never actually hear them confess you get the impression that they are a couple by the end:D hope this helps:D:D

Um. Well a LOT of stuff happens in the manga that was never included in the anima, but basically Sakura confessed to Yukito, and he gently turned her down saying he already has someone he loves. Sakura then asks if that person is Touya, and Yukito answers "Yes, but I'm not sure what he feels for me." A few other references are made to them being a couple in the final few chapters. So yeah they're canon <3

And read the manga! And CLAMP's other manga too! They're all amazing.

CLAMP, this series' creators, put gay and lesbian characters into this series because they feel that homosexuality ISN'T some taboo subject that kids should be sheltered from. They wanted to explore the reality that many children DO have loved ones in their lives who are gay, and they wanted to show that when Sakura is faced with this reality, she simply continues to give those people her unconditional love.

I had my first crush in Kindergarten. It was on my best friend who is a girl. I am a girl, so just an opinion here, but I don't think a child is too young to learn about love whether it be gay or straight.
