  • The so-so audio on these Night Flight videos does NOT do justice to the incredibly sexy voice of the female narrator, not sure why it doesn't come thru. She may have had the most amazing voice of any woman in television ever. You're only kind of hearing it here, but the effect when you heard it for real as it was broadcast on Friday night back then was...wow, is she hot or what? There was just something...Seger said it--you had to respect her but...her voice had mind-slapping strut.

  • If I remeber correctly, this was right around the time when networks were first starting to air the film! I saw it around this time when I was in highschool & it instantly became one of my favorites! (Nightflight was great as a haven for such pop-culture icons!)

As far as colorization goes... News Flash; They HAD Color In 1968!!! Mr. Romero wanted it in B&W for effect! Its one thing to add color to a film made at a time when the studios didn't offer it. But, don't force it on the artists!

  • Actually, it's never stated in the film that space radiation caused the zombie plague, only that it's the theory the authorities are focusing on. Also it isn't brought up until near the end of the film, not in the opening like this intro might lead you to believe. Just thought that was worth clarifying.

  • I remember waking up to this promo. I watched the whole show and I was forever changed. George Romero and Capcom games inspired me.

  • Was this on new year 1985 or 86

  • 60sThru80s, I'm guessing you never saw the latest colorized version, and you have no idea what you are talking about!

  • Cannibals? Look no further than the 1978 Dawn

Of The Dead and the TV interview with the CDC for the answer:

The first question is, "are these creatures cannibals"? They are NOT. Cannibalism implies an interspecies activity.

These creatures cannot be considered human. They PREY on humans, they do not prey on EACH OTHER."

  • Gee Shawnster, I should have said that myself! Oh wait! I did! Two months earlier! LOL!

  • The dumb-bell commentator states that this was "shocking in it's depiction of cannibalism" Well as a character in 'Dawn of The Dead' states the ghouls were not cannibals. Cannibalism is practiced among the same species. The ghouls are not really human by definition, they prey on humans, they don't prey on each other. This and the ding dong whining about colorization really p me off!

  • Um, the colorization was terrible. You're saying you actually enjoyed it colorized with green zombies, yellow hair and cotton candy-colored hospital gowns?

  • omgleah, there were TWO colorized versions, the Hal Roach version from the 1980's and the Legend Film version from 2006 or so! The second version looks a lot better and there are no Green zombies in the 2nd version!

  • Really! Now that I've never seen before, I'll have to take a look. I do love the black and white though.

  • @eieiowens they are humans but they are FREAKS it' the real humans they go after.

  • Frankly, I was less impressed by the film, and more impressed with Night Flight. I know that sounds silly, but an 80's fan like me can't help it. :)

  • I remember when USA Night Flight aired this...I had already seen it for the first time on Halloween, 1986...but it had been (blech!) COLORIZED.

The USA Night Flight airing is the first time I had seen it in the intended George Romero B&W (the film was, and is, Public Domain, so you can do what you want with it).

I even have bits & pieces of a VHS recording of this airing, mixed w/bits of an TBS Night Trax music video broadcast...

  • I agree completely on the colorizations. Disgusting insult to the talent of the original!
