la mas grande mujer musica que haya existido gracias janis viviras por siempre. letras de orlando nunes de oliveira desde venezuela. agosto 03 de 2010
Can't understand why they can't get the movie made. She deserves to be a screen goddess too. A young Emily Watson would have been perfect. Saw her live twice. Incredible. She was one of the gods.
Toda tu belleza fisica e interpretativa. Se rompio el molde cuando naciste, no podra haber otra como tú, bella tu, bella tu voz, bella la estela que dejaste en tu paso por aqui.
I loved her so much,I have a few of these but not this one,Janis will live forever with people like you and me.I keep trying to get 8 yr old granddaughter into it but she's more interested in how "funny" we dressed,
There will come a time, Carys, there will come a time... Few years from now, when she can finally discern real music from the craps that we the younger generation are so get used to, when she can finally see through all the "funny" clothes and the bare-faces that didn't know and need any Photo-Shop manipulations and artificial make-overs, THEN she will know... I pray for that day to come... :-)
Thanks,I needed that,I can't believe mt granddaughter at 8 yrs old is being taught the soulja boy dance in PE! I mean he's cute and all,but is that really acceptable PE?
The thing that strikes me is that she's almost always either smiling or singing passionately in her pictures. What a character to have blazed through this world. RIP, babe.
I noticed the comments about makeup and why she never wore any and I was wathing the video and noticed, on the large face portrait that begins @ 2:55 and ends @ 2:59, she is wearing makeup. She looks even more beautiful than she was. I noticed it when it was playing, but then went back and she is def waering face makeup, mascara, and something on her lips. Kind of interesting to see her in makeup. She was absolutely beautiful!
actually, she had a little girl like quality about her face and attitude. I am an artist.
I could have made her look stunning with just a little makeup. Her facial bone structure was good. Only her nose was not the greatest however her voice was.
I always wondered why she didn't want to wear mascara and shadow more..and have her hair styled. She will always be beautiful and loved though.....
Then, you've not seen the photographs she did with Richard Avedon in 1968. She was given the glamour treatment and she looked stunning! But her beauty was without makeup or stylish hair. Her beauty was in the voice with which she sings the first song of this posting. A voice that rings true always and forever. You can't buy beauty like that.
Quand Janis nous quittait je n'avais que 9 ans,je ne lui connais aucun aucune remplaçante, et pourtant je l'ai recherché comme un enfant cherche sa mére!...
What a number! Written by the legendary NY songmiller Jerry Ragavoy & done up by the best...you won't hear this at night on Lite-FM! Too bad...it sure would break up the Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper ballads!
Thank you so much, laporters, for posting this GREAT video! She looks so happy here! Wish she would have found the love she wanted so much. Just love her! Peace, Janis! You deserve it, girl! Wish she were still with us!
She's absolutely beautiful in the pic at 3.05. You can see all the good qualities of her shining through her smile and her whole stance. Sigh...I wish I could have met her.
My kids love her, too, and they are nineteen and seventeen. Gotta wonder. Drugs killed her back in the day but, given prescription medicines now, could we ever had known a Joplin? Would she have been Ritalined out before her prime?
betherine82 bio says HE's 25 now - but seriously, i saw this family guy episode one time where peter & lois were trying to get people to believe that brian was their son & stewie was only a 'friend'...brian got so pissed off he wrote to his staff sargeant about the whole thing & the guy offed him
Man, if she had ever got a real band to back her she would have been even more amazing - they drug her down - look what happened to Tina after she got rid of idiot ike - Janis would have been doing the same +
evidently you are - listen to the mess, listen to Janis - it's evident as you listen to her live performances compared to the studio recordings. I played music a lot of years (40)and as a singer & musician I can tell you Janis was head & shoulders in talent over the whole big bro band. I'm sure that's why she loved the drugs..to escape "reality"
it only means that i have 40 years experience in music - i know what actually sounds good in pitch and timing. most people don't - but most people don't have good pitch or timing - but most people don't have to because they don't play music for a living. just like most people don't have to do whatever it is you do for a living
I am a booking agent voor blues rock bands in Europe.Have been for 20 odd years,I myself have had a classical music education at the Conservertorium in Amsterdam. Sorry to dissapoint you.
Don't you mean the concert - torium - or the shit cert torium - but seriousl, i saw this family guy episode one time where peter & lois were taking music lessons & the teacher was a concert master with the Quahog sym-phoney & stewie was so jealous he hired itcy & scratchy from the simpsons, to rub 'em out
Big Brother and the Holding Company was her first of three rock bands. The producer on Cheap Thrills said he could have made that album sound better if Columbia hadn't pressed him for time. The second band had too many horns. Take a listen to her with her last and favorite band on some Dick Cavett videos and on the Pearl album.
oh yeah baby she sure did. I would have that bottle of southern comfort right next to my hip dragging myself from bar to bar in a slinky 1930s black satin dress. off my head over Janis....
I think this captures the essence of Janis. Always great to hear Janis. It would be fantastic to hear the rest of Hesitation Blues. Thats got to be a rare one. Please post it if you have it. Thanks so much for this wonderful video.
she IS a stunning person..always was and always will be. even if her classmates didnt think so. they didnt know anything. janis did the right thing. she got out of port arthur and made something of her self!
We celebrate life of Janis. She wasn't, she is great and she will always be. Maybe she died because of druggs... maybe she could be a grandma right now. One thing is sure, if she was a grandma right now, she wouldn't have been known as what she is right now. JANIS JOPLIN!
It's a sad fact that Janis led a destructive lifestyle for awhile but that does not, in any way, take away from her talent and her spirit as a person. If we can't find compassion in our hearts for those who are lost, addicted and sad, then we, too, are among those who are lost and sad. God bless you, my friend. I pray that if there is ever a time in your life when you make a mistake or become among one of those mentioned above, someone shows you the compassion you deserve.
I always think of the Grateful Dead's beautiful tribute song to Janis when listening to her..it says: "All I know is something like a bird within her sang. All I know is she sang a little while and then flew off. Tell me all that you know and I'll show you snow and rain." A beautiful spirit gone way too soon. Love you Janis! You took another little piece of my heart with you.
It's called Bird Song, lyrics written by Robert Hunter. I'm sure you know that alawson...but for everyone else, a youtube search for "Grateful Dead Birdsong" would be a good idea
Janis Joplin put every ounce of energy into every performance she ever done. Then, just to make sure there was nothing left, she would give that kick at the end. There will never be another Janis Joplin!

Nice live version of "...Heart". Janis is still better than anyone singing tributes to her today like Joss Stone, Etheridge, et al.

Kudos to the director who produced this wonderful tribute to Janis-she left us too early-thank you so much for this :)

Janis, the voice from heaven

Janis Joplin put every ounce of energy into every performance she ever done. Then, just to make sure there was nothing left, she would give that kick at the end. There will never be another Janis Joplin!
