I'm from Hingham and I went through the special ed system until spring of 1998 when I was transfered to a school in Newton for kids with learning disabilities. I have a Bachelors degree from Bridgewater State. I wish the special ed system in Hingham was just as good as Scituate's
Hello to all! In order to improve learning and reading Braille I need some informations from you people. I am considering an idea of making a device that will help blind people. So my question is very simple, do blind people have to move finger accross the "letter" (dots) in order to read it or they can read it simply by laying finger directly over letter? Thanks in advance!!!
I am SO glad this was posted! I have a visual impairment and am in college to teach the blind and VI. my professor has given me a twist on my presentation and I needed to show something that showed what braille is, how it is made/read, and just how this all works. I grew up around it but its very difficult to explain to someone who has never seen it before. this video is PERFECT! everything else I found was an advertisment. THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING!
I am blind but was born sighted (I am totally blind as a result of an accident). I have found learning braille very difficult. My mother was a sign language teacher and my first language was sign language and I always preferred it but now..can't see it. I sometimes get very frustrated by it but I like the way the schools are willing to work with blind students. I also like the fact that they are teaching typical students about disabilities.
I'm also blind. It's great that these kids are learning braille at a young age. I know so many people who had very low vision whose parents didn't let them learn braille until much later when they were struggling to keep up and things would have been so much easier if they knew braille earlier.
