The official motto of our beloved city is "Philadelphia Maneto" which means: "May Brotherly Love Endure". This is our town, our home, and we love her.
I moved away from the Philly area when I was 13, and watching this makes me so happy. I also remember the days of the "Symphony Philadelphia" video, and being able to find them online is a treat.
@replay24 the gift shop at the Franklin Institute used to sell this on VHS. It seems like a best-light transfer off of a print. The print itself was pretty beat up the last time I projected it. Chunks of emulsion were flaking off left and right... which appear the size of Antarctica on screen. I have the VHS copy, which I gather this is. I've seen it a handful of times at Philly garage sales.
This video brings tears to my eyes! As kids it was so amazing to see a movie at the Tuttleman Omniverse, this was always the best part! The domed screen wrapping around you made the audience go wild. This is one of my favorite childhood memories, THANK YOU FOR POSTING! And for those who have never been to Philly, go to the Franklin Institute and see an IMAX movie there, it's like nothing you've ever seen before. So incredibly sad this doesn't still play... Keep feelin' the brotherly love!
My son was watching YouTube videos yesterday when suddenly I remembered seeing this short from the Franklin Institute when I was in my teens. So I asked him to type it in and my goodness gracious here it is, in living color... except now it's reduced to two dimensions! I sat there rapt as I watched this movie, knowing the last time I saw it I was about 18 years old, and I thought, WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?? Thanks for posting this here!! God bless you!!
OMG!!! I have been looking 4 this for years! I remember seeing this 4 the first time at The Franklin Institute's all new Tuttleman Omniverse Theater when I was a kid. AMAZING! It took my breath away when u first lifted off from the street! For those of u outside of Philly, The theater houses a 3-story dome screen with gigantic surround sound behind the screen(which they showed you before the show), it was like you were really flying! Some people actually got motion sickness from watching this!
I am soooooooooo happy to see this. Like me, this is one of my fondest childhood memories. I was sad to see it go from the Franklin Institute but so glad it lives on. You can take the girl out of Philly but you'll never take the Philly love out of the girl.
Oh this is so cool, I've been looking for this for ages. The first time I saw the original one at the Franklin Institute IMAX it was so moving...the original is better than the new one.
I've been looking for this video on you tube for at least 2 years. I'll never forget watching this for the first time at the Tuttleman Omniverse Theater at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia with my mom and dad when I was 9 years old. It was the second Imax theater of its kind in the world (after Boston) and I'll never forget that feeling in my stomach when I entered for the first time. One of my fondest memories...I had never felt so proud of my city! Bring it back!
please please please put up the other old imax intro. symphony philadelphia i think its called??

Does anyone know the name of the a capella song at the end?

Do you have the original one where the guy is playing sax at the beginning waiting for a taxi? That one is better than this one but I can't find it.

There are actually two old videos. This one and "Symphony Philadelphia" which is the one you are looking for.
