  • I didn't think I'd be into Lynch's music. I'm a big fan of his movies; Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, etc. But I never thought his music would be pleasant to my ears. Actually now that I'm listening to it, this is pretty much the sound I've been looking for.

  • Creepy!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Shit vocals man. I know what he's trying to create though.

    Akira Yamaoka has perfected it.

You guys should listen to Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.

Lynch is a great director but this is just mediocre.

  • @Re1Mu2R3 i cant understand your point, seriuosly...

  • @leminhosxico

Yeah. Sorry it's a messed up post.

I was just thinking, based on the theme of Lynch's movies that he might have wanted to make music that fits the surrealistic, mysterious, scary theme of his works and Akira Yamaoka has perfected the music he might have been trying to create..

    Highly opinionated I admit.

  • @leminhosxico

    Here's an example of Yamaoka's music: /watch?v=QeldZLmj1_E

I think it'd be great if David Lynch joined the Silent Hill team..

  • @Re1Mu2R3

Yeah, i´ve been thinking that ever since inland empire. That movie felt like silent hill in a lot of ways, especially the song where he sings about how strange love is. The music style is very remniscent of the general soundtrack in Silent hill 3

  • @Re1Mu2R3

Agree about the vocals totally.....it doesn't work and I'm a huge Lynch fan. His musical output several years back was a whole lot better than this imo...so I see this as a backwards step. His pieces Pink Room & Blue Frank blow this out of the water, as does Ghost of Love.....but this I find quite boring and ultimately lacking.

  • @Re1Mu2R3

Aye...this track may be mediocre, but there are many (me included) who would say that Lynch has very few peers when it comes to sound design and sound engineering....his and Splet's work in the field has sonically advanced cinema massively imo.

This isn't about whether Dave can hack it musically....cos we know he can and that is proven already, many times over. It's about whether THIS (and his other new stuff) is 'up there' and I don't think it is.

  • david lynch is atmosphere personified

  • Damn, sounds like some of the songs from Silent Hill 3. I´m getting this album!

  • Great director, great artist, very unimpressive musician.

  • @eyeliveonanisland I agree, I think he's got great ideas, but he's so naive about music (in my opinion) that whenever he does have a music idea he treats it like a revelation. His Blue Bob album is great I think, but could've been so much better if he had left out some of his more pretentious ambitions for it.

  • Sounds like Daniel Johnston meets Dose One on vocals.

  • The weeknd send me here

  • DAMN FINE!

  • I feel stoned .. xD

  • fucking shet!!!

  • wtf

  • CRAZY CLOWN TIME.

  • I would love to have a cup of coffe with David Lynch.

  • oh yes - sooo damn nice !!!!

  • sounds like one of those songs 2pac made after he died

  • punk meeting psychedelic meeting electronica meeting lynch

  • The owls are not what they seem

  • i know this was stolen from Gods Mp3..

  • great

  • "Genius" is just the first name!

  • this song is haunting me!

  • Holy Cow! awesomeness made flesh!

buying now david, keep going man keep going!

  • the bird...

  • this is so deep and disturbing ... LOVE IT !!!

  • pfff...greaaaat!! :0

  • Good stuff as always from the coolest 64 year old on the planet.

  • He's been listening to 'The Residents' too much.

  • Lynch discovered Portishead. >:]

  • @novamoda just how many records of lynch have you listened before you discovered portishead?

  • @notanartlover None of them (let's not count lyrics for Twin Peaks Badalamenti's music). I know Portishead since "Dummy" in 1994—95, and music composer Lynch since mid 2000. What's next?

  • If long stretched Rubber Bands could vocalize, this is what it

    would sound like.

  • If long stretched Rubber Bands could vocalize, this is what it

    would sound like

  • I love Lynch's music, but I have to say I think Good Day Today is honestly total garbage, I swear I've heard all those sounds, that melody, and structure so many times before in electronic music. Coming from such a visionary I think it's a major step back.

  • SOOOO glad David Lynch is finding more and more ways to express himself. Like this song, or just like David Lynch in general? Check out Trust The Piper by Howard Hues. It's right up your alley :)

  • EVERYONE RUN! LYNCH IS COMING!

  • so epic! how does he do such vocals?

  • @nukaiser computers can do everything you know.

  • Cette chanson est juste extra. Extra.

  • Great! It has a little Neil Young sound too - at least to me. Maybe "Trans" era?

His voice is synthed to great affect. Love it.

  • Thanks for the song and the contest! I entered, but didn't make the cut, still it was fun - and I've got the video I made on my YouTube channel for this song (I also made a video for "Good Day Today"), so you can view if you like. Season's greetings!

  • You make me crazy, Mr.Lynch...

  • i see a smoke filled burlesque club and a lady at the bar contemplating life

  • @SeamusTV i see patricia arquette dancing on a glass table.

  • fucking. AMAZING

  • Unsurprisingly enough, it sounds a lot like Mr. Bungle.

  • I like this more than Good Day Today. Has a real Lynch mood. It is similar in feel to some of the songs used in his films and Twin Peaks.

  • Great slow moody track!

  • woahhh this is great

  • Who the fuck told Lynch to stop! I demand a god damn album.

  • @Visualundeath you'll get it!

  • lynchéen... <3 trip hop...? ^^

  • This is a lot better than his other song 'Good Day Today', which is pretty mediocre. I like this though, very nice atmosphere, cool guitars.

  • Laura Palmer´s heart strikes again ;)

  • Ordered the vinyl :D Can't wait!

  • @hopelesschick1

David Lynch is always comforting. He let's us know that weird and offbeat is just our creativity bubbling to the surface.

  • Is there no end to this man's talents? Awesomely weird and wonderful.

  • @bfutbve1

Hey, I agree .... just want to hear it over and over again .... find it strangely comforting in my mad, sad little world .....

  • @bfutbve1

Hey, I agree ... could just listen to him over and over again. Find it strangly comforting in my bad, sad, mad world ......

  • I can't be the first person to point out how similar these vocals sound to The Residents.

  • @solarisdeschain Wow, good call

  • thanks a lot

  • Don't have to tell me, baby So you go on down the road now You gonna leave my sight But i remember you, baby Each and every night Don't have to tell me You got to go Every night Mmmm feel so low Every night See you go Train take you now, girl The bird She stopped to sing Since i went And did that thing I Know I Know You got to go
  • I Know I Know I Know The bird She stopped to sing Since i went And did that thing I Know I Know Train take you now, girl I know You got to go Seen it coming baby Just as plain as day Seen it coming at me No way you can stay I Know I Know I Know I-I-I Know
  • PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME. Lyrics are driving me insane. I got most of them, but some crazy words are still missing. Here's what I already figured out : I know, I know, The ****? she stopped to sing Since I went, and did that thing I know, I know, ****? I know, you gotta go Sing and come on baby, Just us (?) playing the game Sing and come on at me, No way you can’t (or can ?) stay
  • I know, I know, I know, I I I know. You don’t have to kill it baby (?)(not quiet sure about that one. Sounds actually different when I remove my headphones of my ears. Then I Hear “don’t have to tell me baby”) See you ****? under the road now You’re gonna leave my side But I’ll remember you baby Each and every midnights You don’t have to kill me You’ve got to go I ****? • there's a diner at the end of the universe and this is the only song they have on the jukebox.

  • yÉ!!! hE kNOWS...............!

  • david lynch hero of the apparent homework rebellion.

do what you enjoy in life and become good at it.

thats my opinion and what i get from david.

  • this is great

  • a bit portisheadish

  • @fluid666

Man i was so gonna say that! Even his voice sounds like Beths' a bit lol. It sounds like a b-side from portishead's s/t album, maybe?

I keep expecting Lynch to say "I just wanna be a woooooman" lol. I Love it though. I LOVE it.

  • someone said "David, Why" I say Why Not!?! Aint nothing wrong with this at all.

  • Much better than the flipside - would say this is the A-side.

  • The voice reminds me of Lil' Wayne.

  • very Residents-ish

  • Who knew that David Lynch produced music?

  • @Lunaface420 ...apart from everyone in the world

  • some of this sounds like it's sampled from the twin peaks series 2 soundtrack - anyone else agree?

  • @dmich12 specifically the guitar sounds, also I'm sure I hear the sound of the silhouette behind the curtain in the red room

  • I like it.

  • SCARY

  • This is my kind of music - nuff said

  • what a song!!!! classic lynch

  • huuuu now i will stop to search for music on movies of david linch..there are here in the album thanks linch...:)

  • Sounds like music for his movies but as i like them, i like that song.

  • @2:26 Makes me want to drive off a bridge.. while watching shards of glass spin in front of me..

  • @stabbingmeagain

    ain't it a jolly feeling

  • @NeverMindTheSnow

    Really is..

  • @biwilty

    these be lynchian riddims

  • Better than Good Day Today - it is more original I suppose - I can see where he's coming from with Good Day Today, but who cares really - I think he's just doing this for himself, and it's cool that people his age wouldn't think of going in this direction - Ghost of Love rocks, btw

  • this reminds me of lost highway - and its great!!!!

  • When Lynch doesn't make mind-fucking films, he makes mind-fucking songs!

  • David Linch is da nu tecno Lead Zepplin for reals

  • For those who don't like Mr. Lynch or this song or insist upon comparing it other music pointlessly, a simple solution:

    Fuck. Off.

It's easy and you're probably used to being asked to do it anyway.

  • Stop comparing this to Portishead. Portishead are actually good.

  • ooh the male Beth Gibbons. I know, I know.

  • It a mix of Portishead and Eek-a-mouse (the voice)...but I just can't stop hearing it! And I love Good Day Today!

  • Comment removed

  • Portshead wants its music back

  • Love the mood, atmosphere, production\mix. And that little skip in the drums. Dig.

Of course, I'd love to hear what Lynch would put together if he went for something with more harmonic and structural development..

  • what was "that thing" he did???!!! LOL

  • lolwut

  • The woman's voice in this song reminds me of the homeless black woman in Inland Empire with the lighter. Maybe it's the same woman?

  • David Lynch you are an ICON

  • @WaxHeadroom He knows.
