With the case of anti-depressants, most of the time, when there IS a "bad side affect", it's something major and is too late to be worrying if they should be taken off of them or not. Did you know that they are looking at kids as young as FIVE for a few minutes and then saying that they have some "disorder" such as ADD and then putting them on anti-depressants. If your 5-year old is hyper, then cut down on the sugar or caffeine. Don't put them on drugs that are known to cause suicide.

Honestly, the suicide is often the reason they're ON the medicine. Key word "anti-DEPRESSANTS". Sometimes it just isn't strong enough.

But seriously, are people fucking stupid? If your kid is acting weird after you put him on something, TAKE HIM OFF. Talk to your doctor and tell him about it, for fucks sakes!

I often hear my father (who is a phyciatrist) say over the phone 'hmm, okay, lower the dosage'.

That's just my point. If they are called "Anti-Depressants", then why do the side effects include "an INCREASED risk of suicide", agitation, & insomnia?

Behavior doesn't usually change until its too late. In most cases, the FIRST sign is suicide or mass murder.

And it's not just anti-depressants that I'm against. What about the other psychiatric "therapies" such as electroshock(and for depression too?), lobotomies, and just holding someone down for several minutes(many cases result in death)?

True, but mostly those are part of a wrongful reaction with something already working.

Let's face it, Anti-Depressants have saved MORE people than they have killed. I don't have the statistics, but I'm guessing that about less than .1% of people who take these kinds of drugs feel any worse.

Wait wait wait... You're complaining about Electroshock and Lobotomies?!?! lolz.

First, people who are recommended electroshock are already messed up enough that anything the shock creates dwarfs the problem they have been diagnosed with. Second, saying electroshock is like what you see in those antiphyciotry videos is saying that our army still fights with swords and muskets.

Electroshock is now more concentrated in one spot, and is less intense. Sure it causes some convulsions, but they are reduced by muscle relaxants so they're very minor and can't cause any serous injury. Second, Electroshock is a LAST RESORT. We don't throw it out every which way at everybody, and it's not like 'Op, he's angry, shock him.', it's more like 'He's talking of killing the whole buisness place? ... okay, put him on these, if it doesn't work, we'll have to shock him.'

Several years ago someone in my family was given electroshock. Why? Because her husband died & she was depressed from it. So they shocked her. After that she was never the same. She couldnt remember anything after that. And you're right. They give them relaxants, but so they don't have to see a patients reaction as they are being tortured this way. I can find hundreds of cases where patients died and never cured. Can u find ONE proven case where electroshock actually CURED someone of ANYTHING?

And for some reason... I don't believe that someone in your family got it. It's an extremely rare thing that is given, and only a STUPID doctor would give it on something that minor. And... how long ago was 'several years ago'? Lately the only side effect I can find are short term memory loss. About 10 or 20 years ago damage was more common because it was less advanced.

Oh yeah, and was she suicidal? Because if she was, then the treatment was successful. She's better off with a bit of memory loss then with a rope around her neck.

I forgot to mention lobotomies! I can sum them up in about 4 words.

It's extreamly stupid, but was also often used on violent people. Like, people who would have killed somebody if it hadn't been for that lobotomy. However, doctors now prescribe Thorazine over that.

I once was given the chance to take drugs like that but i refused...never liked them or used them and nver will.

Many believe that they are helped by these drugs but they are not sober to make that distinction. The drugs have a spellbinding effect just like alcohol. Alcohol has such a short half life that when ppl sober they realize they were impair.Others that that psychotropic drugs do not realize how impaired they are.Legal and illegal drugs do the same thing-alter the mind.

It isn't rocket science to know that drugs are bad. They always have been. Pharmaceutical manufacturers (powered by psychiatry) have brainwashed people into believing that psychotropic drugs are life savers, when the opposite is clear! Schools must STOP drugging the kids and educate them instead!

No, it helps, some have bad effects, but you just take it off, then. Before I had the medication I'm on now, I was overemotional, my anger triggered easily, I was aggressive, you name it. Then I was put on these evil pills. I can concentrate, am a loving guy, happy with my life, I'm doing wonderful.

Take it from a guy who happens to be on these "life savers" and has a father who is a psychiatrist.
