The old loss of ground effect over water huh? The tailrotor may have just stalled and lost authority but if he was an experienced pilot and tried to recover he would have been straight on (in this chopper) right pedal. He was out of control at that point, he wouldn't have got it back. He shoulda dropped collective when he was in the water. Poor guy! I hope the winchman came out o.k!
From the look of it the tail didnt fail just lost all authority when the water stalled it. It he hadnt of fought it and let it piro , probably would have come back. he panicked.
hmm, i think tailrotor failed after hitting the water. theres one simple rule when hitting the surface. turn the beast off, and leave it... trying to pull out choppers out of the water fails to 99%
