Hi, nice landing! I've posted a video response of the full flight, could you please rate my landing considering the weather (final few seconds). I read in a comment you have an IR.
Any real pilot would not consider that a good landing. A good landing is one where you can actually use the airplane again without major repairs needed. Runway lighting and approach lighting is large and not easily knocked over without tearing the hell out of your craft which is usually made of nothing more than beer can metal. Try setting up that mission manually with the crash realism turned on and see if it doesn't crash you.
You've got to use your rudder and trim to compensate for the wind; if there's a strong crosswind, you have to aim in the direction of the wind, not the runway. It's a bad landing because, based on the final approach, the plane would have had to execute extremely dangerous maneuvers to even get the wheels on the ground, let alone make a smooth landing. Keep practicing: get a little lower (two whites when you're crossing the threshold is bad) and a little slower (about 110 knots in the King Air).
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Roger that. As a realworld instrument rated pilot and owner of two high-performance aircraft I do know what 'crab' means. I must have missed your Dutch Harbor FSX demo video. :-)
That is NOT Dutch Harbor. Sorry to post something that has almost nothing to do with your vid but the landing strip in DH is at the base of a mountain which I'm sure would make this much harder.
" . . . the landing strip in DH is at the base of a mountain" Thanks for viewing and commenting. Roger that. That's Mt. Ballyhoo on Amanak Island and the reason the PT (Procedure Turn) is west of PADU. It's all there. Try it and post your video.
Thanks for viewing and commenting. I don't see any links to your FSX Mission videos but I'm sure we are all agreed The Unalaska NDB-A Approach (the one specified in FSX) is a Circle-to-Land from a righthand circuit(?). The winds dialed in for this Mission are 34KTS crosswinds. Try it! I am a realworld instrument rated pilots, BTW (see my Youtube Mooney videos posted)
Nice video. Nice snoweffects. Make sure to trim the plane properly for approach/landing though. The elevator trim settings made the plane prone to excessive climbing
