  • @robh23a1 it has vtec its controlled to kick in at higher revs so you dont hear it asmuch. it wouldnt rev that high on the low rpm profile.

  • @Get1337 gsr trannys have perfect gear lengths but they are garbage, im on my second one, and it does the same thing my last one did, the infamous honda 3rd gear grind.

  • @supermaniac5 you do know you dont have to replace the trans if the gear grinds...just the syncro's...syncrotech makes carbon ones for like 100 bucks. then it wont grind thats due to milage and fast shifts

  • @MRDC2day ya, i know i just never did on my last tranny, it started out as just 3rd, then 1st, then 5th then i got a new one, a week after i put it in it started to grind in 3rd. i just blew either a head gasket or cracked a cylinder on my ls vtec. time for a rebuild.

  • @supermaniac5 that sucks man! dont rev it so high ,it will be fine revving to 8k man there is pleanty of power there, more unless your engine is built to hell, stock gsr peaks at 7600RPM go get it dyno'ed and see where is best man just keep it safe.

  • @MRDC2day well my top end is built. i have several chips and the one i was running at the time it blew was a mugen (vtec hits at 3800rpm with a 9200 rpm redline) it ran amazing.

  • @MRDC2day no no, the real deal. the car came with 6 different chips, they differ in were the vtec hits, different redlines, some have a rev limiter. I dont really see the point in a rev limiter.. i like the way the Mugen chip i have runs because there's no rev limiter and the vtec hits really nice a 3800.

  • @supermaniac5 what do you mean by rev limiter? every ecu has a rev limiter thats what a red line is or fuel cut. but right on i still would rather have a good tuner give my car the tune thats best for it. but not every town has a good tuner... i like my vtec at 4500 but it will have to raise after i throw some skunk2's in gotta have vtec hit just right for max power and toruqe.

  • @supermaniac5 i have seen people who set the fuel cut too high and do that lol but i have yet to see a car with no fuel cut. i would not rev any stock engine past 8400rpm lol i say rev it where its meant to be revved unless you got a h22 then rev that bitch to 8 or 8200 if you dont you shift out of vtec...gay.

  • @supermaniac5 lol yeah they do man stock gsr is 8100 fuel cut,there are many 9k stock block hondas k20a is 8400 its pleanty unless your a 100% racer like road course with a built ass engine. if you rev to 12k rpm you dont need to rev match and down shift much at all lol

    Try rywire.com. Thats where I bought my sub harness to get my JDM GSR to work in my 95 eg. They also have a few really good articles, how-to's and troubleshooting ideas to help you with it.

    google is your friend its a piece of cake and rywire is trash unless you want dash fire. sorry but you cant use the same gauge wire for everything unless you want trouble.

  • @TheHaydeeliz i have an ls vtec integra, u have to get a b16 head or a b18 gsr head and after that an ecu from whichever head then run a wire from the ecu to the vtec solenoid.

  • @boostinFTW I'm not sure what he had, but if you can, you should get a B16 LSD tranny. Shorter gears than a B18 and a Honda made LSD. Can't go wrong there.

  • Seems like a pretty sweet build, but the one thing about the B-series engines that I've never been able to get over is the fact that they sound like utter crap. Probably one of the best improvements the K-series made over the B.

  • @787Bisurdaddy what?! your crazy dude...it depends on exhaust man i have a apexi N1 it sounded awesome before it got a hole lol but the k series make way better number with mild pgrades than most b sereis do built but they do have more displacment, there heads flow amazing too. gotta love the classic B though i run H/F series all day. which is impresive since i got a 1.8 liter lol

    Every B-series I've ever heard has a strong mid peak to it (I'm talking about the sound, not revs), whereas a good K-series has a strong, throaty sound with a lot of bottom end to it. I just personally do not like the sound of the B-series at all.

  • @787Bisurdaddy well a k series at smallest is a 2.0 liter. the b sereis at smallest is a 1.6 and at largest a 1.8 so yes it wont be as deep at the 2.0 its just displacment. but with a decent exhaust a b series soudns awesome! my apexi N1 sounds mazing up and down the revs. but on a rev match to around 4500-5000rpm it does have a slight tone i would rather not have but im sure thats due to the hole in my can. but get a b20/vtec and it will sound very similar to a K bomb im sure.

  • @jdmegsedan to be completely honest with you bro, pistons and a vtec head alone DO NOT make a motor safe to rev any higher than it was originally intended. LS rods, rod bolts, cranks, and bearings are shit compared to the ones in an ACTUAL vtec bseries. The stress caused from all that revving will give you rod knock or a at the very least spin a bearing. The cranks are NOT BALANCED and cause vibrations to the point of just rattling your motor til it comes apart. just be careful with it man.

  • If you want to get into this, get a real VTEC engine like a B16A, B16B, or B18C with any number after the letter, as all of these are made for high-rpm "screaming" and thus have oil-squirters underneath the pistons for longetivity and endurance. Other perfect candidates would be either an H22A or K20A Type S (from US)/Type R (from Japan). Non-VTEC motors, even non-VTEC blocks with VTEC heads, were not meant to withstand high-RPM. Spend a little more and get a real VTEC engine. Hope this helps.

  • @TheKre8er alot of non vtec blocks can easily be made to rev high and happy with the right mods which IN SOME CASES for certain people can be cheaper than a 3500 dollar complete ebay GSR swap. Think someone sells a b18b with a blown headgasket for nothing, take it all apart, grab some ACL bearings and have the crank balanced, ARP rod bolts and your're good for some reliable rev happy motoring. Hell, metal headgasket and a ebay manifold and eclipes turbo set up and have way more fun than the GSR

  • why would you want to get a "real" vtec engine with a number after the block? you mean like b18c1? if you didn't know those are usdm motors. they are slower than jdm b18c motors. Motors without a number after the letters. If your ls block is built with aftermarket parts then its likely that it will not blow up if its built right..head work and valvetrain is super important for this combination to work. btw its not k20a type s. Its k20a2. jdm would be k20a

    i have a integra ls vtec mine is p72 head + b18a block. and i also had a 2nd gen B16A in it... and i also had a 93 LS engine in it. and there are arguments for all these combinations.

    Speed depends on the driver, most people miss shift points on honda's because of the high redline ESP with b16a's b18a's are easiest to drive.

  • Hi, since nobody will read the old comments, I'm going to annotate it, but this isn't my car. It's a friends, and it's dead. Has been for a couple years now. As to the speedo, when I pulled the camera away, he was just cresting 100. As far as the 1/4 is concerned, my gutted hatch with a stock GSR and SiR LSD ran a 15 flat at 4800 feet elevation and this car was much faster than mine is. I bet he ran in the high 13's to the low 14's. He now has a 540 whp hatch that runs in the 10's... bltches! :)

  • dude i had a 91 LS integra last summer, i swapped a 97 B18 in it, hooked to a B16 cable tranny...then i bought a B16a1 off my buddy a few months later for $600 hooked the cable b16 tranny to it...in the end the B18b was faster by 3 tenths in the 1/4 than the B16. both swaps had I/H/E and 8lb flywheel.

  • I really dont get how you even compare an ls to a b16. A stock ls has 140hp, while a b16a has 170hp. How are they pretty much the same??? And the 15.2 was without launching the car. I took off as if I was taking off from a red light. B16s are no slouches. I have beaten GSR Integras from a roll. I've murdered da ls integras from a stop and roll. And as far as being a sorry ass driver. You cant be to good if you cant even handle a maybe high 14 sec. gsr hatch. That you wrecked.

  • Just to clear things up a bit, I have no idea how fast this car ran the 1/4 mile. The 15.0 that started this little argument was done in my JDM GSR hatch. I've got an intake, stock header and an apexi ws2 exhaust. There was no getting that car any faster without slicks, I ran at least 10 times that night and fifteen flat was as fast as it gets. =] Anyway, carry on.

I had someone laugh at me when we were talking about our cars and I told him the time I ran and he just laughed(I ran a 16.3 at 6000ft elevation no lsd/slicks/stock 13's 175..).. i said what time do you run?? he said I don't know because I have never run my car on the track but I will run 13's he said... ..

  • Yea, I know how that shit goes, I used to leave in Denver and raced At Bandi, its over a mile high, You loose like 18 percent of horsepower up there, but it is fun coming back down to sea level, you run almost 2 seconds faster!

  • @92talontsiawd19 B16s have about as much torque as a single cam vtec. The LS has less HP but more torque. LS motors have more torque than the B16B! I'll take an LS with bolts ons and a B16 tranny anyday!
