  • What a beautiful movie I truly love the blind girl she swell actress n very attractive :))

  • I don't get it. They wanted to escape from civilisation and built a happy, peaceful community so they created this sad village where everybody is terrified of some dummy creatures... yeah, pure happiness. And dude is sending his BLIND daughter to get some stuff... Great music though.

  • The guy reading the newspaper is The writer and director of the movie.

  • Last perfect words!!

  • Okay, they're-they're in the woods...the camera keeps on moving...Uh, I think they're, they're looking for some witch or something, I-I don't know, I wasn't listening... nothing's happening, nothing's happening, something about a map, nothing's happening, it's over, a lot of people in the audience look pissed.

  • Urgent medicine arrives and they just stand there? Nothing much has changed nowadays, has it? People are just as stupid. Including the so called eduacated one`s. LOL

  • @tangood2 lol they do that for dramatic effect. I hate it when they do that, it's so dumb.

  • @tangood2 Not true! Now you can die while you watch a plasma flat screen from your adjustable bed!!! While your nurse is updating her Facebook status!!!

  • You know I understand why they did it and all, but it just isn't right. Children must have choices not the choices of parents but their own ones, no matter how bad the world gets, you change accordingly and face the reality. Can't hide and runaway. That ranger who help Ivy shows there's still goodness in this world. Am I the only one who feels this way?

  • @shan90drama I agree, they had good intentions but you can't hide and cover up the evils of the world. You must fight against it and show others goodness.

  • Thank you so much for uploading!

  • @ BillG37 I agree. This movie was such a let down and I was so upset I wasted almost 2 1/2 hours dying of boredom. Hate this film.

  • @RonaldoMexicano There are several scifi type movies out there that I think are terrible and don't under stand what all the hype is about starting with the blair witch project.

  • @toogawnjawn I agree... Blair Witch started it all with bad sci-fi/horror/supernatural genre films. I can't believe they had the nerve to make a direct to dvd sequel for that garbage. My top 5 worst sci-fi films would include Blair Witch, The Village, Battefield Earth, Battle Los Angeles, and Sucker Punch.

  • @toogawnjawn The only 2 M.Night Shymalan films I enjoyed were The Sixth Sense and Signs. I will forever hate the Village and that pretty much turned me off from seeing his upcoming films but I did see Devil which was a half-ass movie. It had some decent scenes but I'd have to detest the ending because the "devil" would give 2 shits to make that man admit his faults and plea for forgiveness for running over that cop's family. "She" could care less and would've thought their death was humourous

  • Did anyone else notice that M. Night Shymalan played the gurd reading the paper. You can see it's him in the reflection in the glass and hear his voice.

  • He sent Ivy into the real world because she is blind. Her sister wouldn't understand the real world and might have been to freaked out about it to do anything. He didn't want anyone seeing the real world. He created that village because the elders all had a close person who died because of money related things. He created the village that had no system of money :D

  • @plumplum67 So they just made up stories of the creatures.. ?

  • I don´t understand this movie...time travel?

  • @greatleaderleopold All of the people who just stood up lost a family member to modern crimes/city crimes. drugs, guns. They decided to move to the reservation where other people are not aloud to go because of the animal safety. So that they could live in their own tiny world safe from problems ,they use the monsters to scare people into staying in the town. And the girl walked from where they settled back into the real world where everything is modern. like the Amish do. U should watch it again.

  • it would have been better iff wee saw wot the medication did for lucious and wot happned with aivy and luicus at the end like if thay made a fimlay and the film then ended thumbs up if you agree plse

  • "Man, sure is convenient for the narrative that we all posed for that morose photo directly in front of the counseling center where we originally met, we took the photo, and we had it developed at Walgreen's just in time to tuck it away in this here box so that I could meditate on it now for the audience's sake. Everybody caught up? Cool."

  • wow! im back lucious! good ending

  • HOLY SHISH KEBAB this IS an ending!

  • HOLY SHISH KEBAB this IS an ending!

  • If I had known the next to last part was removed I wouldn't have even wasted my time watching this! I love this movie, and I love the part of Ivy and the creature in the woods at the end. What a letdown :(

  • i found shyamalan.

  • This is the scene where Shymalan nails it on this film, when Ivy talks to Kevin, it is beautiful, and encapsulates the whole film, 'you have kindness in your voice' is the line that stood out from this film for me, made my eyes well up.

  • The movie was a HUGE let-down, plain & simple. I can't believe I wasted my time watching it.

  • Kevin(the police officer)is freakin hot!!

    Well,to me

  • This movie was great, except for one weak point: sending a blind girl into the woods to an unknown futuristic world. Why didn't he go himself instead of sending his daughter. Or talk one of the other elders into going. She could have ended up getting arrested and blowing the lid off the whole hide away.

  • @Darkknhss Because she was more "capable than most in this village. And she is led by love. The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe."

  • After watching this whole movie, Ivy is now one of my favorite heroines.

  • @MiniFoof ill love there if he's there lol ivy gonna have to share

  • I still don't understand why so many people hated this movie. It's one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. I think the big problem was they marketed it wrong. They advertised it as a Horror film when it was so much more than that.

One of my favorites for sure <3

  • @5:00 the voice of the biggest dickhead in film of the last decade. and no its not george lucas

  • The last time I saw this movie, I was little and got scare of the "red hooded monsters" and never even finished watching it. I'm glad I did now because it's one of my favorite movies:) almost ten years later I find out the monsters were fake. And I never wanted to watch it because I was too scared! So glad I finally did!

  • ps red means blood as in life and death its what you choos it to be and there is moore to it as well that i have lernd

  • i would of laf if his colore was red the bad colore hehe

  • The fight between GOOD and evil, is always there, just because you dont see it doesnt mean its not there, your color is your spirit, i have to give more thought on what the red color meant

  • weird movie...i thought it was gonna be scary... are there really people like that? That makes a living in the middle of woods? I wonder what happened to Kevin (security dude) since his boss saw him grab first aid kits

  • What a twist. Loads of people didn't like this movie. I thought it was absoloutely smart, interesting, and emotional. I think its more of a movie for teens (like me) because it made me think and we dont guess the ending from the start (which is what loads of adults complained of). I loved it.

  • I cried.

  • So..the "bad color" supposed to represent blood, and if it is...what about when the girls get their periods or have babies? And with no modern medicine to help out with childbirth, did some women die have babies?

  • m.night is identical rowan atkinson

  • @southstar44 Did not pay enough attention to the movie to understand the comment

  • When I 1st saw this movie those monsters scared the crap outta me. So id say this was a pretty good film : ]

  • the guy reading the newspaper is Night Shymalan genius

  • @madisoned yeah kinda like that... not to pay... more to make the ppl of the village safer... Get What Im Saying???

  • u guys dont get the movie in good detail like i do... thats only because i watched in class one of the best movies i have every watched:):):) thumbs up if u agree!

  • Oh that was a horrible movie. I would have liked it if everyone found out about the village, or Ivy came back to tell everyone the elders lie..

    MAKES ME SO MADDD

  • @causedhope you fool tht movie was awesome and great. so stfu you mo fu

  • @causedhope

That makes zero sense, The reason they left society was that they were tired of all the BS. Just what good would it do for anyone to do what you say?

  • @CSATexan I would rather know, and want to live out there, rather then trapped in a village, fearing something that isn't even real.

  • @causedhope

What is it that you would rather know???

She is living in a place surrounded by people who love her. What more could one ask for in life?

  • the village isn't so bad Joaquin Phoenix lives there

  • Ivy is lucky that Kevin didn't haul her off to the nearest mental institution.

  • Urgh.. the elders are erseholes

  • the ending was weird, i thought it was set in 18s or 17s.

  • @0kwhoisnext The elders tell everyone in the village that it's the 18s. At the beginning if you remember the tombstone it said the person lived from 1890 to 1897. But they were really somewhere in the 21st century.

  • Weird movie....

  • if the thing was not real, wer did the 1st one come from coz noah was hiding with them in the house.im confused now.help

  • @miko6149

Before ivy goes into the woods to the towns, Mr. walker shows her the shed, where the elders hide their creatures, to only use them to keep everyone from going to the towns, he did this to show Ivy they weren't real. But when Noah finds out about a hidden door in the floor he uses that creature, and tries to keep Ivy from going to the towns, more or less, kill her. but after that attempt, Noah is killed from falling in that ditch.

  • @specialk42293 ok thanx

  • POOR NOAH!!1! he just wanted 2 be loved!

  • @ThatsWhoa559 yea im sure nations and thousands of poeple jst lied ...realy dude my church even brought this movie for movie night

  • @ThatsWhoa559 thanks for ur reply

  • Wow...they let her touch him when she's all dirty and muddy and while he has an infection..? >.>

  • I don't understand this movie

  • Pretty sure Mr Shyamalan is wishing he never made Lady in the WaterBoarding and the Last Yawnbender !!

  • I really love this movie M. Night was my favorite director how could he screwed up avatar? :(

  • and after all that... still don't know his color

  • @HighSchoolGirl456 umm hes a white guy...... duhhhhhh >_<

  • @HighSchoolGirl456 I bet he was RED!!!!

  • @HighSchoolGirl456 i feel like it cut a part out cause in the theater i remember her telling him it was red.

  • they should make a sequel and in have Lucius know the truth cause he heard the elders talking when he they were besides the his bed

  • สุดยอดหนังของ M.Night เลยล่ะ

  • Anyone have any idea what the medicine could be? Antibiotics? But Kevin made it seem as if the medicine needed would be for a really serious injury.

  • If these people are from the modern age... why do they talk like people from The Renaissance Festival? It makes the whole twist seem less like an escape from a brutal modern world and more like a rich old guy who wants to escape his reality and create a fantasy type of community.

  • Comment removed

  • @JakeDances Which is what happened.

  • @JakeDances the only people that know the modern world are the old people the rest dint even know theres a world out of that forest

  • Moral of the story...evil and good lies within the heart of man...ENVIRONMENT does not have total influence over the Human spirit..it is innately evil

  • I know the truth. I just don't like it. Nor agree with it. Guess what, doesn't matter. I cannot change it and you will not. Go ahead and spout your idiotic maniacal ravings about science(so called) all the while when you are in trouble, the first words out of your mouth are "oh God". Heh. Weak, idiotic filth. I DO hate you all. God and I disagree on that, but what the hell, I am screwed anyway. NOthing to lose. Better to go down fighting than like sheep. YOU are ALL sheep> Cowards. Freaks all.

  • Point of this movie SHOULD be no matter what, things NEVER change. Your tech and your "knowledge of how the earth was created/formed doesn't change how it REALLY happened. Doubters and "scientists" will waste time, our money to prove something that cannot be proven. No matter what idiots, it WAS created. You will know for sure after you pass on. I don't like it, but facts will remain facts. Finding bones and carbon dating mean nothing. What, you think God is only 5000 years old? Heh> Ageless

  • oh that fucking does it, i said after m.n.s fucked over the avatar movie i wasnt going to watch anything of his again. but decided to watch this movie, and i sure as hell now i will never ever watch any movie he makes again

  • @thebuckrogers22 I'm sure he'll be missing the 0 dollars you spent to watch this film. Man, that'll really put a damper on his lifestyle.

  • u have to be fucking shitting me? this is what time zone they r in?

  • I actually wasn't too surprised by this ending.... since I read the book Running out of Time, which is incredibly similar except monsters... .and people from the real world know about those living centuries back, and actually come to see them through mirrors and cameras...

  • @MyPaperBleedsInk Same here!! I read that book many years ago and was struck by the similarities. Both are very good.

  • i actually think ezekiel suits him more than noah

  • This is more like a series of long, long, long exercises in an acting class. Slow and studied isn't bad when there is a payoff ("Seance on a Wet Afternoon" and "The Innocents" come to mind), but by the time "The Village" gets around to letting us in on the "big secrets," all we say is "That's it?"

  • this means kevin saw everything...right?

  • Kevin represents that there is still good in the modern world. We look at life as if it's nothing but cruelty, sadness and filled with heartaches... we try to run from it and thus creating a world of our own. little do they know that in every darkness there is always a light even if it stays far from you.. so dont jsut hide at the corner. stand up and search for that light... because getting hurt means you still live reality and that is LIFE... LOL I DUNNO WHAT I;VE JUST SAID XD

  • I thought for a moment that this could be realistic but I wonder what airplanes and helicopters for example represent for these people, monsters of the air? It would be difficult to isolate people like that in modern world. Still it's a decent mindfuck if you let yourself get into it and lock your brains in the drawer for a while.

  • @Teppo459 At 5:00 the guy at the station says government ppl were paid off to keep planes from flying over the woods. Ivy's grandfather was a billionaire so her father must have inherited a fortune and is using that to keep the village going. Of course it probably wouldn't work in reality, but it is a pretty impressive story Mr. Shyalaman has concocted here.

  • can someone explain the point of this movie?

  • @majormcjansen The way I see it, most people go into life expecting a love story but get a horror story instead... with this movie, people expected a horror story but got a love story. Also, it shows that pain and suffering is nothing new - it has been felt throughout the ages by all generations... and that in darkness there is light.

  • @majormcjansen That you can fool yourself thinking that you can live in peace if you create your own 1800s inspired place, but humans will always be humans, will still commit murder, rape and whatnot

  • @majormcjansen

People suffered in the real world, thought it was too violent and based on greed.... the Walker family bought a large forested land and payed off people to call it a wildlife preserve so no one would go in and find them. They thought the early 19th century was a more peaceful time so they reflected that era in their village. They wish their children to live the life, so must lie and scare them to keep them there....

  • @Jean2339

Was Mr Night the guard that was reading the papers, the supervisor?

  • @kareemir yessir he was

  • well, mr. shyamalan, quite well done lol

  • 7:00

Lol I always wondered why the hell is Kevin still doing there?

  • I remember an interview where M. Night was talking about this movie when it first came out. He always has an appearance in his movies. So as not to give anything away he said that it would be out of place to have an Indian guy in a late 19th century American village. LOL. He worked in in at the end though. DId you notice?

  • I commend Kevin for putting his job on the line2 help her..even tho alot of us would look at a female coming out the woods from over a fence a bit strange..and confused2, but @ DevildogMuNky.....thats the sickest fcking comment Ive ever read on youtube....your a very disturb dude..makes ppl raise an eyebrow at what u said...

  • 7:20 Is that Jessie Eisenberg?

  • @IloveMIT8923 It is indeed

  • Comment removed

  • meh the concept of the movie was good, but it was poorly executed

  • kevin should fuck that hot blind chick

  • I like this movie because it's more than just a movie. It doesn't just entertain ideas about horror or scary creatures in the woods. It's so much more than that. For those who didn't like this movie because they felt it wasn't scary enough or didn't have enough gory parts then you are retarded. I like gore and SAW and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as well, but I also respect films like these and know the difference between the two.

  • uuh?? i dont understand the ending lol

  • so basically, these "Elders" ran away from reality and made others pay for their decision.

  • @madisoned im like ya watch the movie again.

  • @madisoned oh snap reality has antibiotics

  • You cant fence out the world because wherever you go, your in it.

  • Lol did anyone see the religious trash talk... Ohh religion you have done SO MUCH harm and pony very little good... RELIGION-Humanitys worst invention

  • Do you get it??? They killed their brothers and sister and what not... They escaped to the village.... That's why Elders do not leave...

  • @Darkphoenix1965, thats because Ivy's father inherited his fathers riches. It's the same last name because he used the money for the "wildlife preserve". The people guard it thinking its for the animals but really they are protecting their village.

  • theres worse dangers of money than making men greedy and killing each other for it.. money makes you perpetual debtors to those that make the money.. better learn about that

  • Now THIS is what I call a movie! My mind has been twisted in ways it has never been before!

  • SWEET JESUS, THAT WAS GOOD.

  • everyone was saying this was such a bad movie so i never watched. I really enjoyed it better than all these dumb horror movies that show the same thing every time (titties, ass, blood, sex, more blood, and more sex)

  • Darkphoenix1965 yeah thats the twist ending the woods they live in was called walker park and all. They been living in the woods secretly and her father had that idea so thats why her last name walker.

  • Brilliant , Brilliant, Brilliant, !

  • Totally wasn't expecting that ending.

But wow, at first, I was thinking this would be an okayish movie, but as it progressed it just got better and better.

Plus, the score was completely brilliant.

  • Fucking hell, Shyamalan, stop blabbering on and let Kevin get the bloody medicine. Joaquin is dying!

  • I wish they would show what happened to Lucius.. Was he alive or was he dead? Did Ivy's hard work paid off or not ? :(

  • say what you want about M. Night, but this movie is a master piece.

  • Thank for the upload!!! I love this movie!!!

  • nice film

  • I did not see the twists coming. Awesome film.

  • The real star of this movie is the music.

  • This is the proper meaning explanation of the movie. There were 3 universe, she got across the second universe by climbing that magical wall, so she can find medicine to cure that sleeping faggit. That faggit was in the 3rd universe, the Egyptian universe, cos he was wrapped like a mummy. In the sequal, the Rock came in as a scorpion king and he went to the Village as the monster. The village was the first universe.

  • Everyone else can bite it, this movie is beautiful.

  • saw is sick

  • walker wildlife preserve? i thought this movie was about the old days

  • "We have two universes: the modern open risk society vs. the safety of the secluded universe of meaning- but the price of Meaning is finite, closed space guarded by unnameable monsters. Evil is not simply excluded in this closed utopian space, it is transformed into a mythic threat with which the community establishes a temporary truce and against which it has to maintain a permanent state of emergency."-- Slavoj Zizek in Violence. (talking about this movie)

  • If only this wasn't a rip off.

  • During this scene, when they look at that picture, listen to the stuff that's being said by the elders. Listen to Mr Walker. He tells you everything you need to hear to understand. Remember, when they are talking, think of it as what they are saying to each other at the grief center.

  • Notice when she says 'Ivy Elizabeth Walker' ..... 'Walker' is written on the guys cap. o.o

  • @Darkphoenix1965 Well Walker, Ivy's father bought the park, it's named after him.

  • @Darkphoenix1965 It's M. Night's tip of the hat to "Walker; Texas Ranger." LOL

  • @Darkphoenix1965 The truck also said "Walker Wildlife Preserve". Night was saying the Village is on her dad's land (which is why its fenced in--so outsiders wont go in).

    <3

  • @Darkphoenix1965

That's why he decided to quietly give her the medicine and allow her to return to the woods instead of detaining her to authorities cause he thinks she owns the place or something, at least I guess so.. :P

  • @Darkphoenix1965 this last scene, when i realized that it's really the modern world, i couldn't get over it. i really couldn't. i just sat there going "omg omg omg omg"

  • @Darkphoenix1965

Because her family owns the whole wildlife reserve, which is why it is named after them.

  • after watching this entire movie has made me think alot about the world i live in, and to read these comments after and to see people arguing about pointless opinions makes me sick. and it will never change

  • This movie blends many different genres into a truly amazing movie... I love the setting, the characters, the suspense, the innocence, and the unexpected plot twists as the story unfolds. But most of all, I enjoyed the romance... Ivy is so brave.

  • By the way, all of Shyamalan's movies deal heavily with religious/philosophical issues, some more successfully than others. The one that did this the best was, in my opinion, "Signs." The main issue there was God's sovereignty over his creation and man's faith. There is a reason for everything that happens, even if we do not yet understand it, or perhaps will never understand it in this life.

  • This is a great movie. It illustrates the differences between humanistic views of man and religious views of man. Simply speaking, humanists think man is basically good, whereas Christians see man (as the Scriptures reveal him) to be flawed and tending toward evil. This is what causes the elders to miss the whole point, until the end, that evil follows man wherever he goes because he is, religiously speaking, a sinner. A change of heart, not one's location, ultimately, is the answer.

  • I saw this movie in theater when I was roughly 17, I left unimpressed. I recently read a book by one of my favorite authors - it was a christian book - and it shocked me that she referred to this movie. From what I had remembered it was a lame horror movie, so, I set out to re-watch it. I now realize what a beautiful poetic story this truly was, especially between Lucius and Ivy.

  • @MommaSnell what's the name of the book?

  • Brill thanks for the upload

  • In my opinion this movie is more centered towards romance rather than the mystery of the creatures...its just some creatures happened to walk in a romantic movie....I give it 1/5....

  • ...( hit enter on accident ) To keep their kids from wondering off and seeing how life really is beyond the woods, they decided to scare them back into the village by wearing crazy costumes looking like killer monsters.

  • Marcus, it's simple. A group of people met at a grieving center where they were all trying to cope with the murders of their family members. One of them had an idea to leave the modern world behind. To do this, they built a village way out I the woods and raised their kids to live a simple life like people lived in the 1800s. To keep them

  • I need someone to explain the whole story of this movie im confused and the movie makes no sence

  • @DaTBoiiReMy

    Hahahahahahhahaha :)

  • i got everything except the end...can someone explain it?

  • @darkhope2 well, this is what i think. do you remember all the towns people telling what happened to their relatives? i assume they didn't want to live in the modern world, where their loved ones were getting killed so they made a society of their own.

  • im alittle lost can someone explain it to me?
