I love this version but I find myself going to the solo version more lately. I wish the sound quality was better though :) I've been listening to this guy since 1973. It's so great that his recordings are appreciated by a wider audience now. Believe it or not his songs were played on AOR FM stations in the early 70's. I don't suppose he'd have a shot at breaking into the rotation at any FM station today.
Very few artists and individuals altogether perhaps are utterly incapable of expressing themselves in a means that convey's complete sincerity to their audience. Yet I think it is a generally accepted notion that Nick Drake achieved this.
Indeed, a shame of his passing, but in death, he lives on in an eternal legacy.
I disagree. Though I agree it pisses all over Bryter Layter, Pink Moon is just a work of genius. It isn't as full as Five Leaves Left, but I kinda like it being just Nick Drake and his guitar. I'd say FLL and PM are on par with each other - But hey, each to their own, I guess.
I like Nick Drake because he's one of the few musicians whose music feels very honest to me...a lot of artists, good ones even, try very hard to put emotion into their songs, and a lot of them do a good job of making songs appear genuine on the surface, but it's not often that you come across someone who is able to so clearly communicate their soul using music as Nick Drake.
Wow. This is just gorgeous. I've ordered Five Leaves Left to go with my copies of Pink Moon and Bryter Layter. Can't wait to give it a listen. I'm sure I'll have to play it over and over like I do his other albums. Can't seem to get enough!
@slg11354 Perfect music for when you need an escape from the mundane world! That young man's music is absolutely one of a kind. I can't get that uncanny feeling from listening to anything else.

I think I like all of Drake's albums equally, just depends on the mood.
His first album is a nice middle way between Bryter Layter and Pink Moon.
