What's suspected highly is that high testosterone levels kill off areas of the left hemisphere at birth. This causes the brain to compensate with with a more activated right brain. The right brain, being associated with practicality and space is extremely effective for memory and mental coordination. My intuition from playing the piano tells me that these abilities are simply strong spatial understandings.
Each person with autism is absolutely uniquely - that's what makes (in part) very difficult to find what they need in order to achieve significant progress, especially when dealing with an person with autism with severe speech delay like Luis José.
Actually quite the opposite...I worked as a regular ed teacher for 14 years after teaching special needs kids for 12 years...No two days were ever anywhere close to be alike.....Every day was a new adventure! I actually worked with as many autistic kids in my regular classes as I did in my special classes......
Actually that was meant to be a tastless joke about autism...sorry. But ya, good on you, i realise it must be difficult for parents and people like you help make all the difference.
