  • TRUE COMPASSION WITH GENIUS BROTHERS AND SISTERS LEADS ME TO FIGHT THE DRUGS AND SMOKE OF SYSTEM....

    LAWRENCE VON DADA

    ANTI GAGA LEAGUE

  • the only song i ever knew of parliament was , tear the roof off, it was the only one ever on the radio, but they are FREAKING amazing, this song ,cosmic slop, bop gun , the music is amazing, love the chicks especially the one in orange off shoulder dress,

still love zeppelin ,but i have discovered funk and love it

  • I swear I have a recording of an almost identical arrangement of this from DC - did they play more than one night there that time?

  • @eatyerbeans yeah there was a Friday show an a Saturday show almost every time they played in DC the first show would sell out so they had to do a second show ..the first was always better then the second to me.. they did a show at Howard U back in 88 or 89 we hadn't heard from the Funk in a while that show sold out quick so they did a Saturday that Friday show was tight they did everything from Alice In My Fantasies to What Is Soul... i miss those days when i lived in DC

  • Sounds like Skeet on bass

  • Funk will live forever

  • I believe that is Cordell Mosson on the bass.......not William Collins....

  • Regardless, white people can use a little more funk. Thank you Garry!

  • Everything was on the one!

  • This is one of those funk cuts where they "WAS SHO NUFF SANGIN!!"

  • The bass ending to the original track is so funky. That has to be Bootsy's funkyees bass line ever.

  • @joshua626 I agree!

  • The late great Gary Shider! This was when he held court on stage directin the fonk..where's GC during this period? And what is that Gary is singing at 5:10? It sounds so good!

  • RIP Gary ....... what a master inside the diaper or out !

  • My dad was so charismatic on stage!! Truely Unsung! RIP Dad!!

  • @GShiderHarryGreen I back you 100%, and so sorry for your and the worlds loss!

  • @GShiderHarryGreen

Your father was a living treasure. Dear God that Man expressed a WHOLE LOTTA SOUL.

    I miss him dearly!

  • @GShiderHarryGreen

I'm funking to your father just about every day on my miserable commute through Bangkok. It really keeps me going here in Thailand'voidoffunk.

  • cholly bassoline was the tour manager simple ! met him in london Clapham Grand chuch

  • Peace and restful journey to the outer nebula Gary....I know funk is ready to WHAAAT!!!

    Brother Malcolm MC in Japan

  • Funk get ready to go, funk get ready to roll!

  • R.I.P. Garry (July 24, 1953 – June 16, 2010). Thanks for all the funk Starchild.

  • Glenn Lamonte Goins (1954-1978) should've gotten the credit for this song, since he wrote in "Funk N' Roll"(Dancin' In The Funkshine) from the Quazar lp.

  • drohedga is 100% correct .

  • cholly is slang for cocain, broda

  • @nutmahatseba

It may be slang for cocaine but this song is about Cholly Atkins, the legendary choreographer for Motown.

  • Thanks, I never knew that. I guess we always assumed the reference to Mr. Charlie.

  • F UN K GETTIN R E A D Y TO R O L L !!!!!

  • Whaaat? ddddaly (respectfully) I grew up in Detroit, MI. one of the blackest cities in America... and not ONCE did I ever hear that is what Cholly meant. P-Funk has a history of converting unfunky people in song. Sir Nose anyone? The world narrowed down to two types of people for Parliament in their songs - those that funked... and those that didn't.

  • Cholly is a reference to "Mr. Charlie," our slang for white people then. Listen to the rest of the lyrics and you will understand.

That slang is also the reason that the book Charlie & the Chocolate Factory was renamed Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory as a movie. Producers were afraid blacks wouldn't go to a movie named after "Charlie"

I must be getting old. Never would have told my white friends that back in the day.

  • "Cholly" is actually a reference to Cholly Bassoline a member of P FUNK

  • A member of their team (Road Manager) not the band

  • :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • i don't know why this song is called cholly. i wonder if it is a reference to a guy in motown named cholly atkins. who taught everyone from the supreme , marvin gaye, smokey, o'jays you name them. stage presents and choregraphed dance steps for them. thanks for the videol

  • You're right, this song is about Cholly Atkins - george said this in an interview once when asked

  • The "dude in the pink hat" is the one and only Garry "Starchild" Shider!

  • any players, singers, doers go.

  • does anyone know what cd this is on??

  • yeah one nation under a groove

i also gotta live version off of a P-Funk All Stars live CD

  • One Nation under a Groove.

  • one nation under a groove

  • Whatever happen to Babs Stewart after the Motor Booty Affair tour? She is one of the few ex p-funk members you can't find any info on.

  • thanks for the info baby i appreciate it he was very young when he died right?

  • Glenn was 24 when he passed. Very young 1954-1978

  • does anyone know when glenn died?

  • died July 29, 1978, bro. QUAZAR, one of the best FUNK bands, EVER.

  • Too bad you can only give 5 stars on here

  • did any body sample this yet?....theres still some funk that hip hop slipped and went to sleep on

  • Actully. I beleive that song "cholly"1 is about their manager Cholly Bassolone.

  • Cholly on utube, blows my mind!!

  • oops... I mean skeet on 5:34

  • love skeet on 4:34

  • ...the singer iz garry shider and he sang it on the album 2...

  • Anybody know who the singer is? Juni Morrison did it on the album I think but that isn't him. Maybe Ron Ford?

  • That's Garry "Diaperman" Shider. Actually it was Garry on the album too! Bootsy and Junie co-wrote the song.

"I would fly, but never to high

    cause my funk deserted me..."

  • just sooooo SWEET!!!

  • funk get ready roll!

What in the world are ya'll talkin about?!

  • P-Funk takin' care of rhythm & business, being good to your earhole. Voices, strings, percussion hittin' on all cylinders.

  • thanks this is a great song and they sound just as good as the record .Funk get ready 2 roll !!!! I wish I could go back in time and be there right now partying my ass off!1
