  • A 5 minute debate is way too short for this topic.

  • The Bigger the Government the more the corruption. The more you money gets wasted.

  • Mitchell smoked Straw. Plain and simple.

  • I noticed a peculiar lack of historical evidence on the part of that british gentleman, and I rather prodigious amount of historical and contemporary evidence from Dan Mitchell.

  • "Red ink as far as the eye can see?" You mean that budget you just crafted? There's no reason we need to have a budget in deficit, Obamessiah. You and your Democrat cohorts decided to pass an unbalanced budget. Stimulus needs to be put in quotes, too, because any stimulus benefits are liable to be negligible or downright nonexistent. We properly needed to lower taxes and lower spending, not raise taxes and raise spending, which is what the Obamessiah has done. Get ready for a 1970s redux!

  • he is reniging on his campaign he is continued outof control spending. The deomcoratic leadership is squandering money too. for example, why does pelosi abuse the government plane to fly home.

  • mark my words, they'll keep the money..and file bankruptcy.

  • If bigger government is good for economy, then much, MUCH bigger government must resolve all problems.

Let's all go work for the government.

    Once the recession is over?

They still don't get it, do they?

  • That British guy needs a reality check.

  • The US does not have as much debt than Europe and Japan because it never experimented with the disasterous deficit spending of Keynesian or the state run health care that gives health care subsidized by public debt...

  • Guys, don't you know the only way to solve the problems we have that were caused by over spending, under saving, and ridiculous amounts of debt is by spending more, saving less, and burdening the future of this country with near insurmountable debt? It's so obvious a solution, even George W. Bush knows it's true.

Demanding politicians to tax people less and spend less of their money is like trying to tell a dope fiend to stop shooting up.

  • Demanding politicians to tax people less is one step to a solution.

Cutting back government till it's almost gone is another one.

The work they did you could do yourself easily.

They spend days to think about simple problems (because government is big/slow), you could solve yourselves with a snap of your fingers.

Above Town Hall, there is no law needed.

Only common sense would do great.

  • It is so frustrating to know that despite the truth of Dan's arguments, he will likely be ignored.

  • the british guy is painfully stupid. comparing war spending (the only justified government spending) to building bridges and modernizing schools is truly moronic.

america built tanks/planes and sold THEM to Britian. ugh, moron.

  • Keynes is dead in more ways than one.

  • i wish.

he lives thanks to economic mental midgets like krugman and his ignorant following.

  • Yea true. Some overconfident ivory tower economists still embrace him (krugman as you say). However, most down to earth economists are more interested in the average person's welfare, not monetary policy which makes the rich richer and poor poorer. I'm glad more than one person out there sees reason.

  • Good to see Cato taking a stand against Keynesianism
