I never get tired of listening to it over and over. In 1968 I moved from Homestead, FL to Biloxi, MI (had my first child there, mid 1968) and then to Dallas, TX, all in the same year (hard to believe), as my then husband was a trainee for AAFES. In Dallas I had my second child (late1969). Listening to the Lettermen is like going four decades back in time. Thanks for posting. Thanks for the memories. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

@BazanCristina Thanks! I was alittle surprised at how well this song was received -it's not one of their hits but I'm glad you liked it and that it's brought happy memories back!
what a wonderful version of this song! total harmony and excellent singers, thatis what music needs... todaym ore than at this time... brings back memories of better (music) times.....
@odysseetheater Thank you so much, Eva, I think the Lettermen are the best ever singers of harmony. Would it surprise you to know there are only 3 of them??
@lettermen1 no! because i did kow that! as a singer by myself (look at my channel..) i understand the quality of voices and timing and realice a good work always. some voices sound together like a complete "orchestra". in such cases1 + 1 = not only 2, it is 100! this had the lettermen too. wonderful arrangements, full sound, fantastic interpretation.....
@lettermen1 sorry for my late reply, much to do ...... no it is not a surprise-when you are a good singer you can sound like much more. but this needs exact tecnics, excellent arrangement, and .... good singers... like they have been... wonderful to listen. what a wonderful time this was.... (am i really soooo old??)
@odysseetheater what a lovely reply . thank you so much.. perhaps you will have a look at my interpretations of great songs... the upload is not that excellent, but the sound is quite good. perhaps you will like it ? love eva
Yes, you can tell by the performance. This is that rare instance of a cover being as good as, if not better, than the original hit version. Great vocals, wonderful arrangement.
I just heard this for the first time. I don't care what anybody says, this is stunningly beautiful! Say what you want about the Lettermen, when they redid a song, it was like they took it to a heavenly level.
i was born in 1982 yet i am in love with the lettermen. their songs make me feel melancholic and warm. i remember all the good and happy times my family has had, my childhood and my grandparents who already passed away.
Spent many evenings during the summer of 1969 sitting in front of my girlfriend's house listening to this on my new 8 track recorder. Thanks for posting.
good one phil, i remember that the song was sung by herb albert with his tiawna brass, not sure if i spelled the group name right.i like the lettermen singin g it. Anne

One of Burt Bacharach's greatest chord sequences. His irresistible music is as intricate as it is passionate, as subtle as it is soulful.

Love this version! Magnavox once featured it on an 8-track tape which along with the Sting soundtrack was included with the purchase of a new stereo.
