  • LOL he sounds like hes being butt raped when he jumps xD

  • i like dreamcast better

music kick ass and slightly faster

aint all sega systems mainly made for fast paced games like sonic?

  • I used to love this game!

  • Now, I'm going to have to play this again.

  • btw if someone dont know ;) YT videos 24 fps stage - 30 broadcast (max)

so its kinda useless to watch compassion about 60 or 30 fps xD

  • Perhaps it would've been better to have played both the PS2 and Dreamcast games side by side like the maker of the 'Battle of the Ports' maker does?

  • @Terramax I don't think my video editing software does that.

  • @teh2Dgamer

Ok, fair enough. Good video from you anyhow :)

  • all Dreamcast games better :) no need to compare .textures, loading times, etc

fps? for movie fps - 24 for example:) so if game have stable framerate its not important 30 or 60

  • @HitomiStudioOne

Framerate may not matter for some people( except to fps enthusiasts who say things like 60fps produces a more fluid looking game since it produces a natural "motion blur" and when there's slow down its less noticable on 60fps than 30 fps, because when a framrate drops below 30 fps, our eyes can physically see it.) , but a framerate of 30fps on the DC is an indication that developers may have had to sacrifice because the machine was not strong enough to run at 60fps.

  • @Tinhh

Jade Empire(xbox) 30 fps , half of Nintendo Wii games 30 fps

your eyes can see nothing:) if no big jumps in fps . about not powerful enough.. just watch FF 10 and Shenmue game models. 60 fps just a fairy tale but required for ps2 games emulation (full speed) for PC games 25-30 its ok , 60 for people who don't know how to waste a lot of money or on what:) i have very good PC ...just saying :) not for games , mostly for video editing

  • @HitomiStudioOne

Well, Jade empire shenmue ff10, those are rpgs and slow moving adventure games where frame rate doesnt really matter. But for fps(first person shooters), 2d fighters, 3d fighters, and racing games where things are constantly moving and you are constantly turning, some people would say a 60fps framerate does look better and actually make a difference at times when trying to playing accurately and competitively.

    Fluid example:

  • @Tinhh

ok ok:) think what you want :) by doing video editing ,etc i know a lot about framerates and other staff . also emulating everything what can be emulated :)

.and we cant see on YT fps difference (30fps limit) Adobe specialists recommend 24 for upload

  • @HitomiStudioOne

Bo Allen, a web developer and programmer created this flash visual representation of 15 fps, 30fps, and 60fps.

    ww w(dot)boallen(dot)com/fps-compare(dot)html

    See for yourselves the difference.

  • @Tinhh

you just troll or what? if yes learn things 1st.

human eye cant catch anything above 24 fps

  • @HitomiStudioOne

Sorry if I sound trollish, I'm not trying to be. You didn't notice the difference between 30fps and 60fps animation?

I found a better website with a framerate comparison with much better functions . Here:

    frames-per-second(dot)appspot(dot)com/

Its not about the eye "catching" the image. We can't see a bullet train going hundreds of miles per hour but we can perceive or sense its incredible speed . David Cameron and peter jackson are framing in high framrerates 48 fps+.

  • "The human visual system does not see in terms of frames; it works with a continuous flow of light information.[12] A related question is, “how many frames per second are needed for an observer to not see artifacts?” --Wikipedia

  • Blur is a natural effect when you film the world in discrete time intervals. When a film is recorded at 25 frames per second, each frame has an exposure time of up to 40 m/s.All the changes in the scene over that entire 40 m/s will blend into the final frame. With No motion blur, animation will appear to jump and will not look fluid. When the frame rate of a movie is too low, your mind will no longer be convinced that the contents of the movie are continuous, and the movie will appear to jump

  • So a film or game at higher framerates will create a more realistic motion blur rather than the fake strobing effect of 24p-30p media.Since they run at such a high framerate, things will appear more life like. In real life we can't see anything traveling extremely fast just like we can't see anything moving at an extreme framerate. But we can perceive it in a blur. Peter jackson is making the Hobbit run at 48fps and cameron also seeks higher fps. higher fps is a direction to virtual reality.

  • @HitomiStudioOne

And here's a link to peter jackson's comment on the hobbit running at 48fps.

    insidemovies9(dot)ew(dot)com/2011/04/12/the-hobbit-48-frames-peter-jackson/

He states that higher framerates provide more clarity, less eyestrain, and "looks" more smooth.

    Quote:

"24 frames every second may seem ok ... but there is often quite a lot of blur in each frame, during fast movements, and if the camera is moving around quickly, the image can judder or “strobe.”"

  • You may be wrong about the eye seeing 24p. The US airforce did experiements on the human eye.

    amo(dot)net/NT/02-21-01FPS(dot)html

USAF, in testing their pilots for visual response time. In their experiment a picture of an aircraft was flashed on a screen in a dark room at 1/220th of a second. Pilots were consistently able to "see" the afterimage as well as identify the aircraft. This simple and specific situation not only proves the ability to percieve 1 image within 1/220 of a second

  • @HitomiStudioOne Not all the ports are better on the DC. The majority, sure, but look in particular at the PS2 version of NFL 2k2 which not only has more polygons, but even better textures than the DC version.

  • do not understand this game to compare .... the only thing that causes fights among gamers are better .... I love all video games ALL ..... not to compare and see which is better: /

  • I dunno, there's just something about "the ps2 version" everytime I hear it. Doesn't matter what game it is,it will always look like ass to me.

  • BAH PC OWNS!

  • @lenneth3 Of course. There's not point in comparing the PC version to the console versions. However, console versions have their own perks like split screen multi with friends.

  • @teh2Dgamer

Which can be done on the PC as well. Sure, it takes time and knowledge to perform well, but atleast me and a friend can play Quake 3 with bots on separate monitor/keyboards/mice. :P

  • @Joroshira Yeah, but that requires a specific setup. I'm guessing playing on Lan which would have cost you an arm and a leg to do when this game first hit the PC, but is easy to do now because this game is hardly a system hog anymore. I'm talking chilling with your buds in the living room on a couch and fragging each other.

  • @teh2Dgamer Actually it's possible to play split-screen on PC, just need some to run the game twice ;)

  • Dammit, now I want to play Quake 3 Arena. :P

  • On a side note, it sure is like day and night between DC and PS2. The DC kicks the PS2's ass. I know I pointed it out before, but Q3A sure shows that the DC was more than capable of holding its own against the PS2 and XBox. Such a pity Sega killed it. :(

  • @elbryan42 PS2 was more powerful than the Dreamcast but not by much.

  • @elbryan42 The DC was nowhere near as powerful as the PS2 or Xbox. Do you honestly think the DC could come close to running something like Black? It would probably catch fire after two minutes. It fared better than the PS2 with Quake because the PS2's architecture wasn't very port-friendly.

  • @elbryan42

Quake 3 ran at 30fps. Half the frame rate of ps2. Had less AI bots. Loses details in splitscreen.

Picture: ww w(dot)underground-gamer(dot)com/imagebucket/quake33(dot)jpg. Look at RPS, renders per second.

Many Dreamcast games ran at 30fps.

    ww w(dot)underground-gamer(dot)com/wiki/index(dot)php/Screenshots_of_GDIs_running_on_nullDC#Quake_3_Arena

  • I remember buying Quake III for the PS2 just on a whim of curiosity. I was pretty impressed with the split screen performance, a buddy and myself, who usually stick to PC gaming, were pretty entertained for a while playing it. Controls decently, considering how fast that game is and the limitations of an analog's precision compared to a mouse.

  • the ps2 version also has a better frame rate most of the time thought it can drop occasionally, the dc has a more stead frame rate. Also I really enjoyed the single player in the ps2 on more since it added somewhat of an rpg element, where you could upgrade your character after each battle, it was really fun.

  • And then there's Quake Live..
