To answer your question, in French, the maleness of an abstract God is just as important than in English. The fact that things like a table is feminine and things like a glass is masculine does not at all lessen the importance of gender when talking about living beings. On the contrary. For example, we don't have a pronoun for "it". In English, it would be possible to use "it" when talking about god. But in French, we HAVE TO call him He or She.

If they do, I have to think that a person brings their own knowledge with them to make the difference i.e. you have already decided that God is living.

Atheism is not a religion. A religion is faith or belief in the supernatural, typically involving a God, but not always. Theism is the belief in a god or gods, Atheism is that you don't believe in gods. Religion also includes rituals of some nature (i.e. prayer) to somehow communicate with these invisible agents. Atheists as a whole don't devote their time to debunking Christian (or any belief), though some such as Dr. Dawkins may do so. Its a matter of the individual.

It seems rather pointless to say that God actually has a gender. We only have genders to reproduce, of which I don't think God engages in. I simply use "he" in reference to God because in most languages the masculine form denotes strength and independence, which are both traits of God. Not only that, but it seems more personal to use "him" rather than "it".
I would have used this as an opportunity to make the case that some religions are fakes - these religions rose from times when men ruled & had absolute power. Women were thought to be fit for kitchen duties & raising children! 100 years now since they got the right to vote? 3,000 years ago they were nothing but slaves.

If there does exist a god, I find the very idea that this god would have a gender ludicrous. If god is a being without constraint, then how could it be possible that it is restricted to being one gender or the other? It would be both and neither. To answer your question, in French, the maleness of an abstract God is just as important than in English. The fact that things like a table is feminine and things like a glass is masculine does not at all lessen the importance of gender when talking about living beings. On the contrary. For example, we don't have a pronoun for "it". In English, it would be possible to use "it" when talking about god. But in French, we HAVE TO call him He or She.

Atheism is just as much a religion as christianity. Athiests devote their time to debunking Christian belief. You shouldn't refer to yourself as anything if you don't have a belief in specified gods. Its a contradiction that hasn't been noticed. Richard dawkings must have some belief in a higher power because if he didn't he wouldn't spend so much of his time supressing the idea of a god. let alone write a book about it. Atheism is not a religion. A religion is faith or belief in the supernatural, typically involving a God, but not always. Theism is the belief in a god or gods, Atheism is that you don't believe in gods. Religion also includes rituals of some nature (i.e. prayer) to somehow communicate with these invisible agents. Atheists as a whole don't devote their time to debunking Christian (or any belief), though some such as Dr. Dawkins may do so. Its a matter of the individual.

It seems rather pointless to say that God actually has a gender. We only have genders to reproduce, of which I don't think God engages in. I simply use "he" in reference to God because in most languages the masculine form denotes strength and independence, which are both traits of God. Not only that, but it seems more personal to use "him" rather than "it".
