  • To all those who said the 10th Doctor was a wimp about his death: Explain to me how saving the life of a friend, knowing that it will be at the expense of your own, is wimpy.

  • @hoppinghessien i do now think it was wimpy but people say that because of the I dont wanna go -tear- line.

  • I firmly believe both the original series and the relaunch are good in their own ways. Yes, everybody likes to goof on the old series because the costumes, special effects, props (etc.) were cheesy. Nevertheless, I felt the stories from the old series were top quality, just like the ones from the current series; and the special effects are incredible! Still, you don't need Grade A SFX or CGI to tell a story... they just enhance it.

  • Just finished ELISABETH SLADEN: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Absolutely charming autobiography. But it does make me all the sadder that Lis is gone. She was a wonderful, genuine person, with a natural grace and class that actors of today seem utterly clueless about.

The PLANET OF THE SPIDERS DVD text commentary notes that Lis was the only cast member to appear in all episodes of POTS and ROBOT.

Clearly, the WHO "rock" for the Pertwee/Baker transition, was Lis Sladen.

  • My 1st favourate Doctor! R.I.P Pertwee!

    What episode was this?

  • @GTAIVFan17 Planet of the Spiders

  • oh my god

    its stephen colbert

  • Liz Sladen pulling off a decorative "vegetable" :D

  • does anyone else think young elisabeth sladen looks like katy perry ?

  • all the regenerations were decent but the bbc did not put enough effort into this one

  • of course my disgust started before this farce of a relationship started to become a sick twisted reality for the show. Moffat's stories are simultaneously simple (as far as the story itself) and overly convoluted. He throws in so much rubbish I half expect to see a kitchen sink to go flying by. I wanted to like ALL THE NEW stuff. I really did. But this childish drivel is so insulting to the intelligence. give me Deadly Assassin or a Pyramids of Mars any day over this crap. rme

  • @sallyjosie Oh grow up, Moffat was right when he implied the classic series doenst hold up much anymore. Hammy acting, dodgy special effects, 50p budget. Bollocks in today's world. Doctor Who has always been a family show and always had simple stories told in a clever way. Today is no differnet. And speaking of Deadly Assain, do you recall the fanboys were SLATING that story in the 70s? As JNT once said, "the memory cheats"

  • its fun to leave again

  • haha sarah jane

  • A little erratic?? That's an understatement haha

  • "Please don't die" :,( so sad...

  • "you may find his behavior somewhat..erratic" I think it's a bit of an undestatement talking about the fourth doctor

  • Not AGAIN! lol Alistair

  • I love the Brig.

  • So the Dalai Lama IS a Time Lord! I suspected it all along...

  • Terrible regeneration compared to all the others

  • @lecagot2

Yeah, effects really determine whether something's good or not, don't they?

  • @floorplank Don't get me wrong, I'm not ragging the actors or the story line. But during that era the BBC often went on the cheap. I think they could have done a better job on the regen.

  • @lecagot2 - I think that was done purposely because they wanted to give the impression that he was truly dead. But I see what you mean, it could have been better.

  • @floorplank that's not my point

  • Just looking at Sarah and the Brig makes me tear up.

  • First time I saw this I said to myself what is Mister Mxyzptlk doing in doctor who

  • It saddens me when I realise all the actors in this scene are no longer with us. R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen, R.I.P Nicholas Courtney, R.I.P Jon Pertwee

  • @Dalekdom Only one is alive, Tom Baker!

  • Bowties are cool, but frills are wicked.

  • He left the brakes on :o

  • I can't click the link at the end! *cries*

  • F*CK, I LOVE DOCTOR WHO :)

  • She still sounds the same ;)

  • elisabeth sladen, nicholas courtney, jon pertwee you will be never forgotten.

  • 2:20 omg... musiiiiiiiiiiic!!!!!!!

  • Jon Pertwee, Liz Sladen & Nicholas Courtney, 3 of the greatest talents in Who history, all sorely missed.

  • The Master made 11 accounts to dislike this

  • everybody in this sceen are dead now :(

  • now the 3 of them travel through time and space together

  • Elisabeth passed away? It feels so soon, she only just made her final appearance on Doctor Who less than two years ago. I didn't think this would happen for years.

  • Awkward. All the people in this clip are now dead.

  • @KingLofiOne Tom Bakers alive.

  • @zaftra Well, you are certainly right, but that's a bit like splitting hairs. Okay, the only person still alive appears in the last few seconds of the clip.

  • @KingLofiOne well, erm, it's not really splitting hairs he was the next Dr who and he was in the clip, pretty major really. What about that gnome thing then?

  • @zaftra Do you mean K'anpo Rimpoche/Cho Je? That's Kevin Lindsay, he died in 1975.

  • @KingLofiOne that sir, is what i call serious nerdism!

  • @zaftra And there, sir, I reckon that you are right, but man as a creature of habit got to have a hobby.

  • That little man that appeared is annoying.

  • @JazziChick The little man is a Time Lord and the Doctor's mentor, known on Earth as Kanpo Rimpoche or, in his current incarnation, Cho Je. The Doctor referred to him as The Hermit before in "The Time Monster"

  • I realize that many New Who fans dislike Classic Who tremendously and think that Tennant was the best ever, but this scene still gets me and makes me think of the Tenth Doctor, "Hundreds of years older and utterly immature." I'll take a Doctor who can face death by trying to comfort someone else over one who cries and whines, "I don't want to go!" Three, kick Ten's butt for him, please.

  • @RavenSkyewalker too right. I only started watching Dr Who in the new series 3 but with the exception of some of Hartnell & Troughton, I've managed to catch up on the classics. This is probably the regeneration I felt saddest watching, even though I knew Tom Baker was next and supposed to be the most popular. With Tennant I got bored & was thinking hurry up and die. Id almost forgotten what had killed him by the time he finally regenerated. Tennant was my first, but Pertwee is miles better.

  • @gd070510 i'm trying to watch the old ones but i can't find all of them... it's very annoying, and I do love all three "new" doctors :)

  • @imACrAzYinsanePERSON It is very difficult but very rewarding. Its taken over a year searching out episodes and for several months of that I had 4 days off a week (not as fun as it sounds) so plenty of Who watching time (and Im still not finished yet). I too love all the Doctors and find it impossible to pick a favourite, it tends to change to whoever Im watching at the time :) Good luck and enjoy.

  • @RavenSkyewalker

I am an Oldie and Tennant is my third fav :D Tom is obv my first :D

  • @RavenSkyewalker Pretty much. 9's my personal fav and when people ask me why him and not Tennant ("OMG WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!?") it's partially because 10 was such a wimp about his death. Pertwee and Eccleson, just as examples, easily top the drawn out angst from 10 in that regard.

  • @RavenSkyewalker amen. I like some of RTD'S stuff but I absolutely cannot watch Moffats crap without wanting to hurl a chair through the tv at the sick joke Dr who has become. OUT of billions upon billions of women throughout the universe and this unattractive sociopathic puke of a character is the best he can do? A psycho who kills without remorse? She is gross and vulgar on so many levels! Give me a Sarah Jane (type) or a Romana over this current piece of utter rubbish! Can't watch anymore.

  • @sallyjosie Then you were never a real fan, as real fans can enjoy the current product as well as the old. Moffat's DW makes people think, whilst RTD's DW told people to feel and not to think, creating piss-poor role models out of chavy Rose and pompus "Time Lord Victorious" Ten

  • @ZipZagginGallifrey I personally dislike the older series. I think it lacks alot of what I have come to appreciate about Doctor Who.

My Doctor Who is obviously alot different from what you consider Doctor Who in that case, but I am sorry. It's not just because hte actors were older, the lack of special effects, or the low budget. It's the story telling. It's not the same as it is today.

They are two different DW series.

    I prefer the new one.

  • And this is where my timeline first crossed the Doctor's, from my temporal POV, anyway. ;)

  • So many episodes and so many stories that the newer generation of Doctor Who haven't seen, I just wish that many of the newer generation can see a full episode of the Doctor Who classics.

Instead of 2 part stories- BULLSHIT! how about 6 part stories!

  • @mrGlitch2000 its Quality before quantity. But i hate new who fans are like: David the best, Matt shit! they aren't fans, jsut Tennant worshippers and he is overrated and annoying

  • i havnt seen any of this doctors episode but just from this i think he was the best!

  • 2:20 is a sad image. Those 3 we had all lost, Sarah Jane the Brigadear and the 3rd Doctor

  • @AutomatedCritic You said what I was thinking... I hadn't seen this scene in several years and thought it would be interesting to watch, but instead it was just sad. RIP Jon, Nick, and Lis.

  • she looks so diffrent here then in 2010

  • If the doctor gets any younger he's going to become a little kid.

  • @xXCandy333Xx lol , eventullay into brad pitt then, it will be the curous case of benjamin button :P

  • I think the best of anything is usually the first one you saw. Kind of like James Bond. So for me that would be Pertwee because he was the Doctor in the first episodes I saw as a young boy.

  • @saxophile1 The first Doctor I saw was Tom Baker, so I suppose that works out for me, as he's the most popular, yes?

  • @joethulhuz He was beaten by Tennant and as of right now it is either Tennant or Smith.

  • The thing kind of gets ruined when a Sky advert is before it.

  • So sad except for Tom Baker the 4th Doctor, all the major actors in this scene, 3rd Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith and Brigadier have all passed away.

  • @Kanuskiz You are so right. However, I like to think that the lot of them are all together now, wherever they are. Actually, Delgado is probably with them too. All sitting around swapping old stories now that they are all together again.

  • i swear he fell over the exact same way when he regenerated into the third doctor

  • LOL to the small floaty guy

  • Sometime in the early 70's and my early teens, I saw my first Doctor Who episode on Public Television here in the States. Ms. Sladen and Tom Baker. Loved the show, adored Sarah. It is still quite surreal, her passing. You Brits were blessed with this lady, and though she probably never expected it, she blessed many in the States as well. And this is Doctor Who, legacy from generation to generation. Connecting now the young, old, and separated by great distance.

  • @djmaur Had similar experience discovering WHO on American PBS in the '70's. Tom Baker may be THE Dr to Americans, but it was Sarah Jane who took our hearts. She was utterly adorable, couldn't help but love her! Have read and heard nothing but affectionate comments about Elisabeth Sladen over the years, from fans who met her here in the U.S. and UK. Seems she was loved by all who worked with her or met her, a treasure who was kind, caring and genuine. Millions mourn her passing.

  • It is very very very sad that they are all dead but they shall all be together now R.I.P.

  • A tear Sarah Jane? One of the most famous Doctor Who quotes of all time.

  • every actor in this scene is dead. Jon Pertwee (the best doctor ever hands down), Brigadier (He was so like cool) and Sarah Jane. Ironic how the last episode of the SJA is entitled: Goodbye Sarah jane

  • Two classic friends of the Doctor. The Brig and Sarah... ugh...

    RIP Nicholas and Lis...

  • Brilliant regeneration. No fancy fire, no OTT music. Quiet and suble.

  • A tear, Sarah Jane? No, don’t cry. While there’s life, there’s

    RIP Elisabeth

  • Rest In Peace, Jon, Nicolas and Elizabeth

  • I Agree.

    3 Brilliant Actors Dead!!!

    RIP in the TARDIS!!!

  • The three people we all miss

  • RIP Nicholas and Lis , you will both be missed, this is turning out to be ablack year for Doctor who

  • all 3 people in that seane are dead :((((((

  • R.I.P. Elisabeth Sladen

  • Farewell, Elisabeth Sladen; thanks to you and Jon and Nicholas for all the wonderful Doctor Who memories. You'll be missed profoundly.

    "Don't cry; where there's life, there's..."

  • Such a great episode. Still brings a tear to my eye...

Rest in Peace Elisabeth, Nicholas, and Jon. You will all sorely be missed.

  • A tear, Sarah Jane?
