For the simple minded ...this is just a very very simplified "model" of the Atlantic current system. And no, this simple model does not demonstate or show in any way the impact or lack of impact humans have on global warming. For the simple minded: how many gallons of gas do you burn a day!?! try burning only one gallon in your house and see how much heat one gallon gives off. That's just the energy from burning it..the combustion gases given off intesify the solar radiation input-retention.
This is exactly correct . The earth ,ocean, and atmosphere is finite and interrelated .If you change the mix via natural and or unnatural means you can injure or kill the body . Rain forests are the lungs , reduce them and simultaneously add extra carbon, temperatures increase , polar caps melt ,oxygen falls in ocean ,biological ocean life dies ,rots and releases deadly fumes ,kills life on surface. Earth survives. We should be good stewards of our bodies, homes, institutions, families, and planet.
as the global temperature increases, the ice above ground(20 million cubic kilometers of it) in the Antarctic melts. The water pours into the sea causing the sea level to rise.
Can any body els just injoy a scientific video about the environment insted of critizising what top researchers actualy worked for to share with us. It's like you go on youtube to make every one feel bad. Bad or insulting videos should be put down, not scientific videos.
Additionally, the planet is merely slowly going to its stable temperature; a return to normalcy from the past ice ages. I call it global 're-stabilization' rather than warming. If it weren't warming, don't you think we would still be in an ice age?
So, maybe we should focus on what caused the ice ages? An asteroid? Perhaps an asteroid stuck an ocean, ejecting vast quantities of water into the stratosphere, freezing, covering the globe, to return a globally destructive hailstorm...? Maybe...
Climate change is the most debated current topic, namely because many 'scientists' don't know what they are talking about; they either have a hidden corporate agenda or just bad data.
So, let's look at facts: Even if the polar ice caps completely melt, only the lowest coastal areas would be affected, while the north and south poles would still remain the coldest places on the planet. Water will still circulate and life will survive. The Earth hasn't always had ice caps...
@stephenawolfe "So, let's look at facts: Even if the polar ice caps completely melt, only the lowest coastal areas would be affected,"
It is NOT a fact that that is the only effect if the icecaps melt. Nobody knows what the effects would be.
The only things we know for a fact are; 1 the climate is continually changing and always has been 2 climate change causes habitat loss and extinctions 3 we've never seen the climate change so quickly as in the industrial age (except meteorite impacts etc)
@ShadesofScorpius "That would suggest it's cycles, and solar driven."
The trend in solar irradiance has been a slight down slope since about 1950.
Irradiance does have an effect. So do ten other things, including atmosphere composition.
And many of those affect other things, which have still more effects. And the causes and effects aren't linked up in a simple linear chain or tree-like hierarchy, they're all interwoven and knotted together counter-intuitively. And we don't really know how.
This is a really informative video. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching these Catlin Arctic Survey videos over the last couple of years. When will people start looking at the science behind global warming? Let's hope it isn't when New York City has to move inland.
@25CS AGW is a lie any increase in average temperature is due to the sun and it's cycles. remember in the days of old the high priest in government said if you do not give me your first born for sacrifice than i will blot out the sun. we know today this is an eclipse, but in their time the peasants didn't know that, so thus an effective control mechanism and AGW is such a control mechanism of the high priest called scientist today.
All propaganda. Half truths ignoring the whole truth to fit an agenda.

Show me the evidence of this warming having unnatural causes, I'm prepared to listen.

you cant stop it! because my religion says so.

Don't you think it's kind of paradoxal to talk about your religious beliefs in a scientific context?
The possibility of a new ice age approaching is not really new news though.

Ok. That was very pretty and full of cool graphics. So... now what? What do we do with this information?
Like...
Just buy carbon credits from Al Gore?
I don't doubt that there are climatic changes occurring. Do I think it's anthropogenic? Not really.
I think we're POLLUTING, which is terrible, but I don't think humans can affect the temperatures on other planets, which are ALSO rising right now.
That would suggest it's cycles, and solar driven.
IMO.
