Hello friend I have a question that I do not know if you could help me know, I downloaded the pdf of the regular teaching BUGERA bias, only that there is a classification that tells of valulas a, b, c, d, e, f, g, he has nothing written on the valves of my BUGERA 6262, how do you know the classification of valves? thank you for your attention and a big hug from Brazil
bugera makes a great guitar amp but i haven't found a review of their bass amp the bvv3000 which from looking at pictures is designed to compete with the legendary ampeg svt in the same way the 1990 and 1960 are designed to compete with the jcm 900 and 1959 plixi. im considering picking one up since its half the price of an svt and it has the infinium since you were at the bugera booth at winter namm i want to know did you get a chance to hear and if so how did it sound compared to an svt
The bugera sounds more organic and much beefer and its gain is tremondous, Engl is good but I love the 6260, plus its in my opion more harmonically rich, and you helped me get my first bugera, which is the 1990 oh and i don't understand why the ENGl starts to warble in its distortion
The bugera sounds more organic and much beefer and its gain is tremondous, Engl is good but I love the 6260, plus its in my opion more harmonically rich, and you helped me get my first bugera, which is the 1990
That's not a fair shootout. The 6260 is a Peavey 5150/6505 clone which is the poor man's version of the Soldando SLO-100. Even with both amps sounding more os less the same.
@themaggot8 Actually, not because of the price. Right before the 5150 amps arrived, EVH used SLO-100's on stage, after using Variac'd Plexis running at 89w due to having to replace all tubes after each show.
ppl can say tkat bugera isnt built as well, i have one and i have a engl, oh, and a mesa and marshall. i can tell you tthe bugera is better not only for the buck but the sound really rocks. i dont justify buying exspensive stuff by saying other amps are cheap, i go with owning one first. great shoot out. the bugera does sound better on here and on stage.
The Engl has a little more note definition in the highs, but not much. That Bugera is chunky, I like the way it sounds. It doesn't sound like you get anything more out of the Engl for $1200 more. Good shootout TTK!
Bugera impressed me I'd love to own both of them myself.. still I'm far from stubborn but I'd still go with Engl.. ironic though that the Germans make one of the most evil amps.
One thing about the 6262 compared to the 6505+ is the bugera can be biased properly. Without a bias mod. 6505 amps have a cold bias pot from the factory. That's why the 6262 has a better low end.
Bugera fixed their reliability issues summer of 2009. I own a 1960 and love it. Bugeras have a great clean channel, take pedals well, great head room, bias easier than other amp brands. Good full frequency transformers. Great sounding amps.
The only problem with bugera amps are there tubes. Buy a matching set from Eurotubes and a bias probe and your good to go. No problems and one great amp.
if i had to choose between the 2 and money isnt a factor.... then i would pick the engl w/ a ts-9 to push up and tighten the highs to get that djent djent ..... HOWEVER, living in the real world, i would get the bugera hands down, but i would throw a eq pedal on it to get a better bottom and again toss on a ts-9.
I prefer the sound of the Bugera, and the fact that I could buy 3 of them and a 4x12 cab for the price of the Engl head makes it the clear winner, hands down.
you should pretend that the bugera is the engl and the engl is the bugera in the next video and the most people will say, that the "engl" is better - i bet! ;)
The Bugera is way cheaper and has reverb. I would get the Bugera do to my friend Dingle1 He has shown time after time the sounds of every High Gain Bugera amp. I cant imagine paying over a grand for that ENGL. Bugera wise I prefer the 333XL due to its versatility. Bugera all the way here!!!
I recently had a Bugera 6262 combo. It was the worst buy ever. Fuses and tubes were blown at the first rehearsal after 5 to 10 min. I'll never go with Bugera again.
@AScottToney I sold that combo and got a 5150 instead. I must say, it was an awesome deal, I couldn't comapre the two - nor sound-, nor qualitywise. I'm glad though that you found a good Bugera :)
Like some said, they both sound good here at this volume but open both up in a live band situation and I'm guessing that's where you'll find the other $1200 worth of amp!!! I'd still save for the Engle. Great shootout TTK!!! ALWAYS look forward to them...keep em coming!!!
@Tron4000 It is a quality built instrument. I like it very much. When you play this, compared to the stuff that is made for the big brand stores ... you quickly realize why all the rock stars go to him (IMO).
what kind of cabinet do you use? because it sounds awesome... better than in other videos, might be because f mic position, but wich cab it is interests me anyways
I don't think either of these amps sounds better than the other. The Bugera is a better deal, but not necessarily a better sound. With today's line of amplifiers, you can nail basically any tone you want. Now that we managed to get good tube amps with good tone for cheap, how about adding features like solo boosts?
TK, i forgot to ask in my comment b4, HAS your Bugera still got the stock tubes in it or have you changed them for a better name brand, cos it makes a BIG difference with different brands. Tho some it may be subtle and some drastic.
I noticed it on both my Vs! Both sound way better with better tubes. Not different, just BETTER!
Ok, Bugera and Engl sound VERY good considering price difference. Bug BETTER value i think!
As to tone, not a lot in it. @ 50% gain Bug was crunchier with better definition but a bit sterile. Engl was warmer but fuzzier.
Once you upped the gain to 8 or 9 the magic happened. The 6260 pretty much took over, warmed up more, and retained definition. The Engl while still good, got mushy.
High-end amp companies must be getting worried, budget companies like Bugera are putting out a really comparable product for a fraction of the cost...
@thenazipanda Yeah & now the new infinium valve management system is coming out (eventually...) will make even more of an impact. Engl is over priced anyway and u get NO acessories with it. Bugera comes with multi function footswitch controllers as standard!
They both sound good, but have they fixed the issues with Bugera amps dying shortly after their first use? I nearly bought a 333xl till I read that they were not reliable, and bought an Ashton Blue Tongue 100 instead.
@Vindicator18 Gees how FAR behind the times are you? We're NOT in 2007 any more Toto! They are fine as far as i know. The new Infiniums should be even better.
HOW is the Ashton Bluetongue? I only ever heard 1 but it sounded really nice. I was considering 1 of these b4 i got a Bugera V55HD. The Ashtons are chinese made budget amps too. How is yours doing? I'm curious.
@DMSProduktions My Ashton Blue Tongue is pretty nice. I had an Ashton Viper 100 head before that, which I had used as my main head from 2004 to April last year, but I retired it when a fuse let go on stage, in the middle of a gig, and I don't really trust the repair guy who fixed it. The Blue Tongue is pretty good, but I use a Line 6 POD X3 for distortion. I like it being blue and not black too, but it'll never be as good as my old Music Man HD130, that has been retired, for it's age.
@Vindicator18 Yeah the Viper, didnt that have a 50 & 100W model? I only ever saw 1 demo of 1 on YT and it sounded real nice. Surprisingly good. right UP there with a Bugera. Doesnt the BT have good distortion on its lead channel?? For an all valve amp I wouldnt put a POD in front of it for some modelled dist.
Any is your choice to however.
Shouldnt be hard to fix a fuse. BEST amp repairers in Melb are either Tim Evans or Lucas/Miles Audio.
@DMSProduktions The Viper did come in 50 and 100. It is the same as the BT, just looks different. I like having the valves colour and add warmth to the amp modelling, but also it helps with some of the pubs here having volume limits, so you can't really crank up the valves to get the natural amp distortion tone, and also I like having more than one distortion option.
The fuse has been fixed, but I only got the Viper back from being fixed, 3 days before it blew up! Hence, not trusting that guy!
@slimmetalpickn slim! Thx for the comment. Yes, I was in the lounge - If you notice my old videos- you'll see that that the 6260 and Fireball were both behind me .. I had to pull them out of place to do the demo ...
@lmsjr i was wondering if you could do a demo of som cheap amp heads. this is because i am just starting to play live and i cant use my peavey 15w backstage combo can i. so i was wondering if you could do a video demonstrating cheap good amp heads
He does! Bugera amps are cheap. Try a v22 combo. Great amp. I have one myself, and it would definitely be loud enough as long as you tell your drummer to chill a little bit.
if price was not an issue ENGL is the best to my ears because i like black metal death metal and grindcore. for me the Bugera has too much top end especially if your playing through an alder guitar with a maple neck.. but i really think its just a matter of taste, in the end neither one is better. However given the economy if your looking for an amp and money is a issue Bugera is the better buy.
Way too much bass on the ENGL and way 2 high of a price tag. but if you want to use 2 separate heads then this might be a good combo. The High end of the Bugera and the low end of the ENGL might make for a great combo of sounds and tones
ive tried both amps and in real life the engl actually sounds better because of the very very active eq but on the other hand it costs 3X more than the bugera!!
I'd run the Bugera gain on 5.5 and tolerate it. I'd have the Engle gain on 7 and love the heck out of it. I think the Engle has better tone and more useable gain.
The Bugera sounded better to me until the last part when the gain was turned up and it sounded too fizzy, whereas the Engl sounded better with more gain. All in all, I'd pick the Bugera since it has a much nicer price tag and it sounds better so long as you keep the gain in check!
Too hard to tell what is "best" generally or for a particular player unless cranked up in a band situation.
I would guess that the Engl opens/brightens up when the power amp section is pushed harder, and would also have more smooth and warm clarity. The Bugera "sizzle" might get annoying over time.
So interesting to see these shootouts. Thanks for doing this!
The Engl may not be as thick, but it has so much more clarity, its less fizzy, and the bugera sounded muddy even with the gain at 12. The engl was clear even with cranked gain.
i don't like metal, or metal tones, but the engl sounds great. with the amount of gain that it supplies, its still articulate and clear. you wont get lost in the mix. the bugera sounds too saturated and compressed to me
More bottom end in the Engl. But when you raised the gain to around 8 the Bugera sounded like it was fizzing out, it sounded a little thin. The Engl still sounded dark & thick. Great Shoot-Out.
haha yes! i don't know if you did this shoot-out because of my comment in yesterday's video, but anyways, THANK YOU! didn't know whether to save for an engl or buy the bugera but there's absolutely no doubt this bugera is the tone i've been looking for my entire life! :D
I was wondering how the amps break up at higher volumes? They both sound awesome. What was your master volumes set at? The Engl sounds darker, as mentioned which leads me to believe that at higher volumes the Bugera is even brighter. Not a bad thing but if these amps are geared toward "new metal" and dropped tuning, you might want to pay the xtra bux for the Engl,I guess it boils down to overall value depending on what kind of tone you're looking for. Great review!!
I like the sound of the Bugera , personally. The top end makes it ring through more clearly with more bite, whereas the Engl sounds a tad more compressed.
Well I hope that you know what you're saying. Anyway if you have the cash go and buy engl, but as a touring musician you WILL need a backup amp and let me see - 2 Bugeras would be 1000$; 2 Engls - umm 3400$...
@diabeticmonkey I've had my Bugera 6262 for 1 year, no problems with stock tubes. Check out Dingle1's channel, he has 4-5 Bugeras, only one had an issue (it was a launch one, it was repaired for free), he's had no problems otherwise, and has recorded an album with them.
Not a big fan of the way you eq'd the amp ttk. I have heard the fireball get WAY tighter. Might I suggest a noise gate and an overdrive in front of it? Also, back off the gain and use mid boost.
are you playing on neck pickup ?

@slimmetalpickn slim! Thx for the comment. Yes, I was in the lounge - If you notice my old videos- you'll see that that the 6260 and Fireball were both behind me .. I had to pull them out of place to do the demo ...
lmsjr 7 months ago
@lmsjr i was wondering if you could do a demo of som cheap amp heads. this is because i am just starting to play live and i cant use my peavey 15w backstage combo can i. so i was wondering if you could do a video demonstrating cheap good amp heads
kix7711therealone 7 months ago
He does! Bugera amps are cheap. Try a v22 combo. Great amp. I have one myself, and it would definitely be loud enough as long as you tell your drummer to chill a little bit.
ruffles272 7 months ago
@ruffles272 thanks for the tip
kix7711therealone 7 months ago
wow this one to me is a toss up i like the sound of both leaning more towards the engl thou but price is rather high

6262 is better imo though.

the bugera sounds great yes... but it sadly sounds cheap and fizzy next to the engl... only my opinion... rifles at the ready i suppose...
brimill1980 7 months ago
if price was not an issue ENGL is the best to my ears because i like black metal death metal and grindcore. for me the Bugera has too much top end especially if your playing through an alder guitar with a maple neck.. but i really think its just a matter of taste, in the end neither one is better. However given the economy if your looking for an amp and money is a issue Bugera is the better buy.

@slimmetalpickn
Listener. I actually have a Bugera and it is a great amp
I also have a couple ENGLs....they are in a completely different league.
ENGL isnt really a boutique maker, they have a large plant and make a lot of amps. They are like Germany's Mesa-Boogie.
ThieleM 7 months ago
Way too much bass on the ENGL and way 2 high of a price tag. but if you want to use 2 separate heads then this might be a good combo. The High end of the Bugera and the low end of the ENGL might make for a great combo of sounds and tones
Phishboy26 7 months ago
I'm sure in person they sound a lot better. But as far as it goes on here, I didn't care much for either one.
kesx 7 months ago
Bugera sounds kinda muddy compared to the ENGL but seriously, it's 500 bucks! Great deal.
lobster272 7 months ago
This video does NOT do the ENGL justice. Even t hough the Fireball is the introductory level ENGL head they crush the Bugera
ThieleM 7 months ago
As alway: ENGL sounds thighter and better (imo) BUT the bugera is way cheaper....
so: if you are a professional go with the Fireball, if not: Go for the bugera

ive tried both amps and in real life the engl actually sounds better because of the very very active eq but on the other hand it costs 3X more than the bugera!!
rama6maiden 7 months ago
I'd run the Bugera gain on 5.5 and tolerate it. I'd have the Engle gain on 7 and love the heck out of it. I think the Engle has better tone and more useable gain.
dbombaable 7 months ago
how is the bugera only $500 i would of got that instead of my krank krankenstain jr.
092275erik 7 months ago
The Bugera sounded better to me until the last part when the gain was turned up and it sounded too fizzy, whereas the Engl sounded better with more gain. All in all, I'd pick the Bugera since it has a much nicer price tag and it sounds better so long as you keep the gain in check!
AndySan 7 months ago
Apples and oranges at that overall volume.

Its great that its possible to get something with the tone of an ENGL for $500.
TheTactical6string 7 months ago
from here sounds real close to the same using mackie HR824 speakers hooked to a mac
stinkfoot777 7 months ago
The Engl may not be as thick, but it has so much more clarity, its less fizzy, and the bugera sounded muddy even with the gain at 12. The engl was clear even with cranked gain.
jaredmkl 7 months ago
i don't like metal, or metal tones, but the engl sounds great. with the amount of gain that it supplies, its still articulate and clear. you wont get lost in the mix. the bugera sounds too saturated and compressed to me
Bluesguy92 7 months ago
jeez the bugera actually sounds better.

$1700 amp an entry level amp!? WOW... just WOW
rampage222555 7 months ago
@rampage222555
Dude, ENGLs go up to like $5000. I think he meant that this is one of the cheapest out of all ENGL amps.
Levi790 7 months ago
@rampage222555
It is an entry level ENGL
ThieleM 7 months ago
More bottom end in the Engl. But when you raised the gain to around 8 the Bugera sounded like it was fizzing out, it sounded a little thin. The Engl still sounded dark & thick. Great Shoot-Out.

haha yes! i don't know if you did this shoot-out because of my comment in yesterday's video, but anyways, THANK YOU! didn't know whether to save for an engl or buy the bugera but there's absolutely no doubt this bugera is the tone i've been looking for my entire life! :D

if you ask me the bugera sounds better and to add to that the price is way better than the engl. me being a metal player myself id choose the bugera

The Bugera is cleaner and a little bit more articulate from what I can see.
The Engl seems to be able to handle the break-up on higher gain a little bit better.
Both have ridiculous sustain.
If I owned a house, I would be picking up a Bugera.
tak178 7 months ago
Bugera
rockpwnsu 7 months ago
Yeah the fireball is nice but the Savage and invader are the best amps in the Engl line that isn't BS expensive *cough* Engl special edition *cough*
Overture2152 7 months ago
I like the sound of the Bugera , personally. The top end makes it ring through more clearly with more bite, whereas the Engl sounds a tad more compressed.
anongrey 7 months ago
i think we should be grateful to bugera for letting us enjoy the high quality sound without braking the bank

Bugera sounds fat and powerfull.
Engl sounds dark and powerfull.
I think that engl has more articulate tone, but bugera sits better in the mix.
IMO Bugera wins, because you can have three 6262 for the price of one fireball 100.
Great vid!
FungusLabel 7 months ago 7
@FungusLabel But Engl lasts for 3 times as long.
diabeticmonkey 7 months ago
Well I hope that you know what you're saying. Anyway if you have the cash go and buy engl, but as a touring musician you WILL need a backup amp and let me see - 2 Bugeras would be 1000$; 2 Engls - umm 3400$...
FungusLabel 7 months ago
@diabeticmonkey I've had my Bugera 6262 for 1 year, no problems with stock tubes. Check out Dingle1's channel, he has 4-5 Bugeras, only one had an issue (it was a launch one, it was repaired for free), he's had no problems otherwise, and has recorded an album with them.
CoolKabbage 7 months ago
Not a big fan of the way you eq'd the amp ttk. I have heard the fireball get WAY tighter. Might I suggest a noise gate and an overdrive in front of it? Also, back off the gain and use mid boost.
diabeticmonkey 7 months ago
@diabeticmonkey Periphery??
CleverNameHere81 7 months ago
@diabeticmonkey He is showing the amps as they are I guess. Adding a overdrive or noise gate removes it being solely the amp's noise.
CoolKabbage 7 months ago
@CoolKabbage I know. I'm just suggesting for (possible) future videos.
