First you lie to get elected, then you lie about what you are doing and finally you lie about what you accomplished. Political Science 101.
Healthcare reform has been a complete sell-out and of course the Dems are declaring victory. Can the USA be fixed? It looks more like death throws of a failed nation; failed on purpose to crush it's strength so that a NWO agenda can be implemented.
Corporate leaders worried about losing money from slave labour being banned...I'm sure we're all really feeling for them. We should never have shopped at Walmart in the first place!
Have you noticed , google earth now has street view of the island of Oahu .Scout around and find the rich areas. I would also recommend you see Mexico Citys suburbs for contrast . Its rather shocking.
If people would pressure insurance companies instead of politicians they might do better, Rand Paul has some good ideas about term type insurance being used in major medical. We could make them bend as consumers but instead we go to politicians and end up criminals if we don't buy from them... nuts. You can't trust Washington or the insurance companies. If everyone stopped paying their insurance they would listen, but the gov makes sure employers pay so you can't do even that.
Considering the right wing up roar on abortion and penalties, I would say that the passing of any bill won't happen in the Senate, no matter what the majority or the tricks they try to use.
The beauty of the bill was turned into a complete freak show by being supplanted through the insurance special interests. It's always about them. Those bastards are among the most selfish interests on the entire planet.
Regarding labor, there is a great hypocrisy. The global economy. Bah ! Humbug ! In a truely global world there should be no passports, identity papers, people can move as they please. But business wants national borders, or prisons to fence in exploited slave labor. Lets push workers rights, unions, and wage parity to equalize the poweror labor and business. Business wants borders for us but not for money. Oh their money they want global.
Sounds like the big problem is corruption. I would not want any bill passed by a corrupt gov't. They can screw up single payer too. The key is to break the mold. Quit electing democrats & republicans. Ban corporate lobbying & contributions.
Health care reform must decouple finance and clinical practice. It must. The gov't has no idea how to practice medicine. But it does have the power of money. So it could pay the premiums. Or the providers directly.
My problem with single payer or any government intervention is control. We live under a banana republic that's for sale to the highest bidder. What medication we're allowed, what kind of healthcare we are allowed and who gets it is will be under control of power hungry lawyers, not the individual.
Maybe we should examine some of the past interventions and see if they have helped or hurt before doing more... buying drugs from Canada would be a good start
Come on Ella... Rachel is a corporate worker. She is reading from the shit they give her. Oh! yes, sometimes she makes sense, but you know. Keep away from that tube. Peace out!
fatbius: the link works just fine. Greenspan + Ayn Rand are one and the same...I might add. Let's just say, I will not be in compliance with this type of thinking. Too many scotches, perhaps...but resignation? No way. It feels too bad in the morning, when I'm awake again :)
This isn't just a bad bill, it's a bad bill that hasn't even been read by 99% of congress... anyone who'd make an uneducated vote is just adding to an already explosive recipe for disaster. You are exactly right, start from scratch and be all inclusive; our health and well-being should not be "corporatized!" I know, a pipe-dream, but a dream nonetheless (and I have a tendency of chasing after dreams).
I agree with you that this bill is mostly crap & a give away to the insurance companies but I'll have to say if we don't get these bills passed we won't get another shot at change for a long time. Basically if they don't get a bill passed a lot of Democrats will be out of a job in 2010 losing their majority & like a domino effect the fear will put them into a state were they don't want to spend any political capital on this issue again, thinking it will simply fail again.
funeralsong34: thanks for the comment ! My take on this is exactly the opposite: once this bill passes, future legislation in terms of REAL reform will be off the table for decades to come, and the Dems will be blamed for this horrible bill. As they should be, because they are wholly owned by the corporations just like the Repubs. Anyway, nothing goes into effect until 2013 - so ALL of it is simply talk + fodder for the election cycle as usual.
>>> The Dems have a majority in both Houses + the Presidency as well, so if they cannot even deliver on some of their basic campaign promises, they will lose, no matter what they do. What good is this majority, if it goes against all principles, which the party supposedly stands for? I'm done with Party politics as usual. The system is too corrupted at this point + only massive grassroots opposition will do anything to change it. And this, btw, could also backfire.
Well from what I understand some of the major issues will go into effect as soon as the bill is signed the biggest being no denial of coverage or pre existing condition but like you said in a previous vids (at least I think you said this) it doesn't mean they can't simply raise your premiums so high on these people.
But yeah this whole system is corrupt & bought off by special interests it sickens me, I doubt any grass roots will have any effect on it.
Dear Ella,
I just randomly ran across your videos. I am so happy that an intelligent woman like you takes time to share her views with people.
What's with the chicken in the background?

1. Single payer health care should be a state run program.
2. Insurance co's must to be completely removed from the picture.
3. Big Pharma needs to be regulated.
4. Political campaigns need to be regulated to 300K and an 8 week run.
5. no gifts before, during, or after to accepted by any politician.
6. Taxation must return to the state, abolish the IRS.
7. Stop funding Over reaching military programs including the 700 bases World wide.
8. Start a 3rd political party based on the above.

Haha! They don't want to be seen that way? Something akin to what's happening with the whole Federal Reserve audit. IT NEEDS TO BE DONE.

take heart and trust in greed to implode in on itself, there will be no NWO because it only fasilitates an already failing system ;)
