The first EVER B.M.W car that was produced - was a license built AUSTIN 7 re-named the B.M.W Dixi. So THX B.M.W, with out AUSTIN ROVER (British Leyland) B.M.W automobiles would never had got got off the ground so they say AND YOU WANGELED IT CLOSED.
@RAMBLINGMAN75 yeah i know, the only thing I've seen been built in Longbridge is the new Bournville College and some office blocks, which only cover a tiny area. I've seen no sign of any houses been built by StModwen. If nobody is going to build houses on the land they should turn it all into parkland, surely it wouldn't cost too much to plant a few trees, put some soil down and grass seeds? A couple of the old car parks on the huge longbridge site have already turned to jungle anyway.
Unfortunately its also happening with many of the former railway workshops. Derbys pretty much gone, Old Oaks due to go and theres little left of Crewe.
Its not only sad its tragic,another great british car factory felled by the recking ball.Our jobs all gone overseas To places were they make 50 p an hour.
