The ninja 650R is going to have more high-end power, where the SV has a lower end power with its v-twin. Its still a fast bike, but if your looking for high end performance id go with the ninja.
@pacocean1 The SV are picked in ever comparison of the two,. I was not a suzuki fan but bought a 2006 SV650S, upgraded the front suspension and its awesome. Before you do anything get a new spring up front and an emulator, handles like a race bike now.
@pacocean1 not true. The SV650 has equal high end power, and slightly superior low end power. The difference is very small though, basically the bikes perform equally in both regards.
I got a 2005 without the fairing. You know where to buy a OEM colored match for the SV? It looks so much better with the fairing. Nice bike man, I did exhaust, power commander, and k&N...smoothed out torque curve and sounds mean. any info would be great if you know.. thanks.
no need, saw the old one off, and your new slip on will come with directions. if not, cut it 4 inches above the weld, and slap the new one on. it took me about 45 minutes. piece of cake
Might be an American thing... there doesn't seem to be an SV650 with fairings sold by Suzuki in Canada... it's too bad because the bike looks so much better with it.
i used to live in hawaii, and they didnt sell them with the fairing either. two reasons.....first they only started putting the fairings on them in 2008. second....most dealers wont sell them with fairings, because the bike overheats too fast and the lack of a fairing prevents this
Your right there I bought the SV650S K8 fully faired in black with red seat, been riding for a week or two now and it's a real pleasure to ride.
It's a great bike to start on and Incredibly forgiving. An exhuast and tail tidy are my next plans, some drivers haven't a clue so an exhuast will make a difference and make me heard.
Other toy my ass thats a car

slip-on or full?
warder105 4 months ago
@warder105 Just a slip-on. Full system is way too expensive for a 650.

Im about 5'7" give or take...do you think i would fit on this bike comfortably?
xXxNickyJxXx 1 year ago
@xXxNickyJxXx
You can always lower the suspension a bit. Im 6' and i touch the ground on my toes, but it can always be adjusted. you shouldnt have problems
pacocean1 1 year ago
@xXxNickyJxXx - I'm 5'7", and I took about 1.5 inches off of the overly cushy seat and it's fine (much cheaper than getting the suspension lowered).

The SV650 sound about 10.000000 times better than the parallel twin on the ER6/650R

SWEET! Where did you get this exhaust? I want to get one badly!

starting in 2008 the sv comes with fairings
Lique727 2 years ago
How hard is it to put on a slip on exhaust? Do I need a dealership to do it or would it be easy for myself if I did it?
Thanks in advance and love the sound. Thanks for sharing

Thanks a ton. Tooo bad you didnt have a video putting on your new exhaust ;)
antiherofisher 2 years ago
simple... 30 minutes and a Sawzall is all you need. Slipons are pretty much plug n' play .
now if you do it right and re-map your FI system as you should .. that's a little more complex.

Did that come fully faired from the dealer?
