I saw the Big O twice at the Howard 1965-66. The audiences were as legendary as the performers. I remember the telescoping electric stage microphone that emerged from the floor.
it's coming back... michael grimm (AGT winner) sings a cover of this (on youtube). Not to compare - just keeping this music alive, soul ...by soul... by soul. Michael said in an interview, when he was a teen singing in country bars in late '90s, it was the Otis songs on the jukebox that tugged at him.
The Soul Man, Otis Redding..music never sound so good...He must have been a wonderful man, his wife never remarried.. what felt was put into his music...Otis Redding RIP..
GREAT PEOPLE WHO LEFT A LEGACY OF ANY KIND ALL DIED TO YOUNG TOO EARLY..R.I.P. ALL e.g. MARTIN LUTHER KING,MALCOLM X,MARVING GAYE,SAM COOKE,TEDDY PENDERGRASS and offcourse MR.OTIS REDDING.
I heard that Otis went into Stax as a roadie one day, and someone hadn't turned up. The band was all there, engineer all ready to roll, no singer. Otis says "well I got a song" teaches it to the band (The M.G.s) and gets it in the can first take. Think it was Steve Cropper on a TV programme. This is that song
Don't get no better than this. I went to a dance at the old Park Center in Charlotte, NC in 60's, when he was there. I was one of a few white boys that were there. Later saw him in concert at the old Charlotte coliseum a time or two. What a singer..
If only God would send us more voices like Otis' from heaven above. This voice can not nor will not ever be duplicated. Just be thankful we had him for the time he was here! One of the finest ever created!
everytime somebody ask me who's the best soul singer, of couse it's otis. I've answered the same way since I was about 15 years old. I'm now 45 and nothing has changed since then.
Otis Redding really could bring it. He makes your life so easy when u are with that special person. all preparations are made with his song. All you have to do is - Just get to work. lol
im 50 and my son is 20 and we are from macon ga the same birthplace of otis. my son knows more about otis than i do, and i knew otis personally. i was a real little girl but he used to play for us at the corner store for a nickle
Otis Redding is one of the best soul singers i have ever heard. His emotions pour through his songs. You feel exactly what hes feeling. So sad that he wasnt with us longer. Just Beautiful :) :)
42 years old, and this is the best music i,ve ever heard; if this don,t touch your heart then you aint got one. Otis was the greatest talent America has ever produced
Slow dance with Otis in the background, nothing better, now you have made a impression that should last. Songs of Love.

The first show at the Whiskey A Go-Go was recorded and released on CD years ago. Its a better live recording than his European concerts.
I highly recommend it to all Otis fans. Pt 2 of the concert was released on a CD entitled Otis Redding-Good to Me.
