@FarewellBlackSwan I never said it was. I said some people prefer particular versions of songs because it has nostalgic value. AND it's not just emo teenagers who like Placebo's version, nor tacky goths who like Within Temptation's. People do have the ability to like songs without being clumped into social groups. Music is music. Enjoy it and stop hating people for having personal preferences.

@jesuslivesinmytoilet That's a poor way of looking at it. While I enjoy Kate Bush's version, especially since it's the original, I personally like Placebo's more. I like the darkness of it, I'm a fan of the band, and it's from MY teenage years, so it's more personal for me, like Kate Bush's version is for teens of the 80s. You shouldn't assume folks are of lower intelligence just for liking a (good) remake.

I fail to see how it's ass-backwards in any way. It's as simple as this: different people have different tastes in music. Some say they like Placebo's version of this song, or various other covers, others say they like the original, Kate Bush's version. People will always have different opinions about music, it's just their personal preferences. Not everyone likes the same thing, nor do they like it the same way others do. if they did... well this world would be pretty bland.

It's just I'm so used to people around me bashing others for their taste in music whenever somebody says something like "I can't believe they think this is better than that" and everything else along those lines, it just clicks off in my head that once again, somebody's bashing someone else's tastes once again. It just seems that people just CANNOT accept that others like different kinds of music...

Still a great song. Not the better version though, and one of the rare cases where the original is not better.

And this is the dude who told me that Eddie Murphy had a singing career in the 80's even doing a song with the great Micheal Jackson, and he's never heard of her, or this song. @Kigorusan True! I listen to both, and though I like Placebo's (haunting, thought-inspiring), I prefer Kate's overall. A very passionate voice, there. I'm glad to see she's still going strong after all these years.
Oh, and I'm not that fond of the Within Temptation cover. I like Within Temptation, but that cover... no. Just... no. XD
