  • Super Mario RPG and this game have such good music. Classics til the end. Thank God I have the DS version still.

  • 4:20... Reminds of the state of mind I've enjoyed this game atleast 10 times over in.

  • I dont remember my reaction back in 1995 or 1996 when i saw this happen but i know i had to say wtf Crono is dead??How is this possible he is the main player??I felt for Marle and them when having to face his mother afterwards how can u keep a secret like that ?This game will always be one of my favorites I agree games arent like this anymore,I 've been a gamer since the late 80s and those were that days.Sucks we all have to get old...now these days are but a memory.......

  • This scene is still effective. I like it much better than the Anime version on the PS port.

  • When I saw this scene, I couldn't believe Crono had just died. Seriously, the protagonist of the game DIES. I was going crazy, I thought it was the end of the game.

This is what makes Chrono Trigger unique and such an awesome game.

  • To anyone who knows:

If you decide not to bring crono back, how does that change the rest of the game and ending?

    Thanks

  • @youra6 Nothing really changes in terms of the rest of the game, other than that you don't do that one "side quest" to get Crono back, and you possibly don't get access to other side quests (I am not certain on this aspect as once I had the chance, I went straight for killing Lavos after Crono died). Naturally you get a different ending if Crono is dead, and if you have to ask about that one, you might as well ask about all the endings you can get.

  • Magus disguised himself as a prophet in order to build the Mammon Machine ~properly~, meaning Dalton just might've made a flaw in its design. This possible flaw was probably an invulnerability to the Masamune. The only problem is, Melchior was warped to 1000AD. So someone mustve destroyed the Mammon Machine after he was warped (perhaps with Masamune). Anyhow, Schala doesnt go to the Darkness Beyond Time, because her past isnt changed (thanks to Magus supposedly not making it to 12,000BC).

  • @EretzvajuFan

isn't that Mammon Machine got destroyed for an overloading of energy ?

  • Chrono Trigger brings back so many fond memories.

  • What is the theme song wheh Schala teleports all the party from the palace???3:45-4:20???

  • It's called "Manoria Chathedral". It's on the Chrono Trigger OST track #15.

  • Ther are So many different ending, u guys have to try it =)

  • aww I always felt so bad for Schala she knew that deep down inside her mother wasnt evil but was being controlled by lavos.

  • why feel bad for schala she gets eternal life muahahahaha ... ok feel bad for her ...

  • I actually named chrone with my own name xD

and the other characters I named them with some of my friends' names xD

  • after this point in the game it is very cool if you keep marle as the leader. it is the best character to put there.

  • And while we're at it, Bambi's mom and Aeris die.

  • As does Claus.

  • Crono was pretty much vaporized into dust and from what I'm guessing that was his soul that flow out of him before he crumbled into dust.

  • that was the pendent.

  • is it possible, if you really train hard enough... to defeat lavos at that point

  • it is possible but you have to have everything from ultimate power to 99 levels and strong items if you are going to face him for the first time.

  • I never really understood this part, how exactly does Crono die?

Did he get frozen in time or something?

  • I don't know exactly but I've been told he was literally erased from existence

  • but then he's magically saved by getting switched with a dummy kinda weird. y go through so much trouble to make a dummy?

  • check, tell me about role playing games, especially how to play them.

I've always been an action / adventure / FPS type. You seem to know what you're doing with Role Playing games..

I don't know what 's a role playing game, except that it's usually bird's eye view with cartoony characters and humungous bosses.

  • Do I need that Crono Clone from Norstein Bekkler? Please answer...

  • Yes, you do.. to ressurrect him, you must have the clone to replace him in the past (when he dies).

  • I thought I'd never see chrono when I played this...

  • Que triste crono muere....:(

  • this part was sad. I LOVE THIS GAME!!! i seriously was addicted to it for two weeks straight...haha xD

  • chrono trigger is asome

  • I can't respect anyone who doesn't bring Crono back to life.

  • no kidding

  • True dat

  • you guys are aware that you can revive crono right...?

  • I have the DS version of this game. It's f@#$*%ng awesome, but if I play it at school everyone thinks it's gay, but they're so wrong. Who's with me?

  • Me, as a CT fan, i say they r dumb

  • they sound like douchebags to me

  • @memaxNOTyoumax some people just dont know what a video game is, unless it was a first person shooter (which im sure everyone has heard of)

  • @memaxNOTyoumax its so awesome

  • @memaxNOTyoumax Somebody was saying to you that one of the greatest RPGs of all-time is gay? That's blasphemy.

  • @memaxNOTyoumax That's because they spend 18 hours a day playing Call of Duty on the Xbox.

  • That was a great game. But why may I ask didn't you name any of your characters

  • Sometimes, it's just time to die.

  • best game ever right here

  • alundra > chrono trigger

  • THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIMEE HERE BABY!

  • crono´s dead censored

  • the best game of all time

  • This game was fantastic--one of the best ever.

BUT... I recall that when I played through it on the SNES... there is a way to achieve the "best ending" without having Crono get his arse handed to him.

It's been a long time, and I don't remember it all, but... I know it has to do with many things, one of the most important being WHEN you decide to confront Lavos. "When" meaning the time period, what events have or have not occurred.

But Crono does NOT have to be incinerated. :)

  • And yet it's Aeris (Or Aerith, whatever.) that gets all the tears and recogition...

  • did crono get vaporized or blow himself up? or what?

  • When I played the snes version way back it appeared that Crono blew himself up in an effort to protect his friends from Lavos (I used to think he used Luminaire or something lol dbz style) . But, the Playstation version's cinema at that point in the game shows Lavos zapping Crono to mush. Take your pick!

  • Yeah in the original SNES version, Crono disintegrated trying to protect his friends from Lavos. At least that's how I saw it.

  • i don't get it how did crono really die did he blow himself up or got vaporized did he do that obi wan force release???????

  • Destruction rains from the heavens.

  • Change the title, and mark spoilers. Seriously, if someone even looks at the video on the list through random browsing, one of the most important plot points in the game is spoiled.

  • It's been 14 years since the game came out, if people don't know by now, they probably never will. Too much time has passed to cover up spoilers.

  • THAT WAS AWESOME I WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN!

  • this is the part of the game i hate...

  • No, Zeal you Bastard!!!

  • ;_;

  • It's not that emotional to me since 1) it's a video game and 2) you get him back in like half an hour; and magus or robo is just as good as Crono anyway.

  • thanks for the fucking spoiler!!!

  • That's actually optional, you don't have to get him back.

Also, the thing that makes it emotional are the reaction of his friends.

  • how can i do it.

  • It can still be emotional even though it is a video game. Just like movies, it has a script, plot, characters, etc and players can still feel emotional ties to them especially when they don't already know the outcome of the story. Also the later resurrection of Crono gives you a strong feeling of catharsis. But thats just my opinion.

  • O.O

    He just...disintegrated...

  • hey I wonder, has anyone noticed how Schala is slowly being pulled toward Lavos when you regain control of Crono? I wonder if you just stand there & let her get pulled in, what would happen? Would Crono automatically walk up and be killed, or by playing the DS, this is a shortcut to fighting the Dream Devourer? I've played this game like 20 times, & I always find myself stepping in to sacrifice my life for Marle (she's always in my party for this scene) cause Schala moves too slow.

  • The greatest game on earth.

  • thisis only 1 of 7 endings!!

  • This is in the middle of the game

  • You obviously haven't either played or beaten this game. This is the middle of the game!

  • To all you f***ing fa*s who think that Aeris death was the most sad moment in video game history...KISS MY ASS! Crono, the most heroic character in video game history, and who wasn't emo about his destiny, died to save his friends. No questions asked. You can get him back later, but damn! Who cares about a character that no one really played with, and most of you will not admit to never playing with her, when you have a true heroic death. We love you Crono. Real RPG Fans.

  • Sadly, the thing is, CT ain't in 3D and came out before FF7, which all noobs know it's the first RPG ever...

  • Crono didn't have much of his own personality or background, so I wasn't really affected by his death. That said, I don't care for Aeris either.

  • Areis' death was like, O shit, I had good materia on her. Damn...

  • you got a point there albing, i rarely played aeris after i got the tiger... but yet for some reason it was emmotional when she died... i guess its human nature to feel that way no matter how attached you are to the character!

  • I hate that damn sound Lavos makes, he's such a douche.

I get so pissed that Magus doesn't tell Schala that he's her brother Janus! But I understand, that would probably totally fudge up the timeline of events and mess with the future.

  • want to play this game?

I know where to download it for your pc for free!

just email me on youtube if you want to know ...

  • chrono revival??

  • i have beat Lavos in this scene...its hard as shit...

  • Me too, makes for a shitty ending though but the power of Lavos here is truely IMMENSE.

  • Yes me too, shitty ending though but yah it's HARD. The power of Lavos here is IMMENSE like in 1999. His power dies down after he rains down and destroys the Earth but still fricken hard the normal way.

  • Just to clarify, is the Dream Team ending available at this particular point or does it have to be right at the start of a New Game+?

  • start of a new game only

  • All you have to do is win the clone at the carnival before this happens. Later you switch the clone for Crono. It happens basically right now.

  • It's a good thing you can get him back. I cried. A lot.

  • ive never played the SNES version until like 3 months but ive played this version and when i saw that scene in first time y was nearly crying but when i watch it again i cry so bad there

  • Lavos has a pussy face.

  • is this the bad ending?

  • no its far from the end of the game when crono die

  • can anyone recommend games like this... where you fight on the field map instead of going to the same repetative screen

  • Heh, dragon quest. It does go to a different screen for battle, but it has changes based on where you are. Even if you randomly walk around the same area, there will be subtle differences. I speak of the dragon quest that was new around the same time as snes chrono trigger. don't know about the newer ones.

  • lol. When I got to this part, the first time I played through the game, I actually fucking cried. Correction. I bawled!

  • you do.

he said on the first run.

  • I remember I fought so hard and used all my good items on this fight. I reset once I found out you pretty well have to lose.

  • wait nix that i was confused -_-;

  • dont you fight lavos before that somewere at the end of time without that red knife stuff??? when he comes crawling through a valley?

  • Ehh... Magus somewhat combats lavos and fails, before a gate is opened from his castle leading back to aylas time (i forget the eras name -_-')

  • Magus died the same way in Ending 8! I heard the Sound Effect of his soul being separated from his body just like Crono's and then he probably turned to ashes just like Crono did.

  • that is what happened in chrono trigger's original timeline, he went to fight lavos alone and died and then the humans were able to beat the monsters

  • Oh, crap!! I didn't know Crono (or whatever you named your main guy) could get his ass handed to him!!!

I never had this happen, and I only played through the game once, lol!!!

  • Then you're lying. Crono always dies at this point of the story. ALWAYS.

  • he must have somehow beaten lavos before getting to this point, and thought it was the end of the game

  • i was actually able to beat this part with crono the first time around, don't know why they got decimated so easily, but then again i did have the rainbow sword...

  • how long did it take u to get the rainbow sword and where ive been looking everywhere for it

  • You're wrong diggitybanana45. The ONLY reason you got the rainbow sword at THIS point on the first run is if you used cheats, but then again, if so, then yeah, it would be easy to beat this boss.

  • This game pwned all other games when it was made. I remember playing this game for hours on SNES. The storyline was amazing.

    R.I.P. Crono

  • i played the PSX version and loved the animation in that, but this was more original and stuff... brought back some memories indeed =)

  • where can i buy this game for less than 25 bucks? i just bought an NES and I havent played this game since i was either 5 or 6

  • you need snes buy it on ebay :)

  • Is Crono's Death avoidable?

  • If you want to go through the entire game, it isn't.

  • Ok i wasnt sure... i only know that you can finish the game with/without him, but he always must die in a game.... sad for him

  • No, but you can bring crono back to life... =]

  • yeah you can actually kick lavos's bitch ass and avoid getting beaten! i did that shit ;)

  • Is it just me or does this seem directly reminiscent of final fantasy?

  • dude, this game is from the same makers of Final Fantasy... isn't it obvious?

  • It was made by square, and made by the best minds of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. It's pretty much those games combined.

  • this game was also written by the makers of DBZ =D

  • that was cheap fight

  • Just good u got the free choice to bring chrono back. A hint for those who didnt manage to fight with im in the last battle: DONT kill Magus

  • No!!! Schala! *jumps in and rescues Schala*

  • dude you got a different ending.

i have the same last boss but in a different place.

    cool

  • Ninja thats not an ending its part of the game. Chrono dies but then you gotta get something and then you go to this mountain place with this tree and then you get this egg or something and then chrono comes back

  • Chrono D':
