@RayFeelaveR I'm a big l Lennon fan, but without McCartney, the whole thing would have collapsed much earlier. McCartney was/is a disciplined writer/musician, whereas Lennon was hap hazard, didn't give a shit at times. As much as I like Lennon, I think McCartney was the heart & soul of the Beatles. McCartney, after all, wanted to keep going. Lennon wanted to break up.

Lennon also wrote about rocking horse people eating marshmallow pies. McCartney also wrote about his generation (Blackbird). He prefered writing songs with stories he made up, instead of Lennon and Harrison, that's his choice. He's a composer, not a jukebox. There's no way Lennon is more "the spirit of the Beatles" than any of them. Plus, Paul was the one who pushed the others to do Sgt Pepper's & Abbey Road : not bad for "bullshit land".

i love many of Paul's songs but if you realize he started writing songs for Beatles that weren't about Beatles, just goof period piece songs that could have come from 1888 or so. They are fun but should have been given to other people to record not used in the Beatles. When I'm Sixty Four, Your Mother Should Know, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Martha My Dear etc, they are great recordings but not Beatles music to me.

@RayFeelaveR How can you say that? Ballad of John & Yoko, She's So Heavy, Don't Let Me Down, etc., were probably about Yoko - the furthest thing from the Beatles. Let's face it - they were growing up & apart. How do you, particularly at that time period, write a song "for the Beatles"? Very few, save for the early years, were actually Lennon/McCartney songs. A Song written by an individual is going to reflect that individuall's feelings/thoughts at the time

Interesting version...cool drumming...I read somewhere their manager, Brian Epstein visited them in the studio for the last time while they were working on this...he died a couple of days later...too bad this movie was not too good..
